I tried the La Roche-Posay Anthelios sunscreen & didn’t care for it. I might try the other ones (especially the Avene) but most likely will go to my Japanese standbys.😬

I personally think this one even feels better on the skin than the blue Skin Aqua, which i also love. It also comes in a 100 ml bottle and is only $11.

I see many skincare youtubers posting "My Best Sunscreen of 2021" series now but this got to be the most trustworthy and informative! The only review with tons of explanation not only on the texture or whitecast etc but also in-depth input from ingredients/filters standpoint.
I have oily skin and finally found that Neutrogena Clear Face/ Breakout Free/ Oil Free Broad Sprectum SPF 50 (I also have SPF 30 for indoors) works fantastic for me! Although at first it did bother my eyes...I was willing to sacrifice that because it felt matte, yet moisturizing on my skin! After wearing it daily for about a year now my eyes are now used to the sunscreen and I'm no longer bothered by it. (Unless I accidently get it in my eye(s). It took only a few days for me to realize that it no longer makes me uncomfortable near the area. If I had to go back, I would suggest a thin amount around the eye until you can tolerate a thicker layer. Also, it is a chemical sunscreen. Edit: It also looks great under makeup!

Thank you so much for reviewing and recommending chemical sunscreens as well as mineral. Zinc Oxide gives me a red, flakey rash and I have to avoid any sunscreen with Zinc Oxide.
Heliocare, which is an european brand, specifically from Spain, has a wonderful variety of sunscreens high level broad spectrum UVB, UVA, blue light, with antioxidants and much more, they show their studies too. I'm latin american but their brand is sold here, and in my country is the most recommended by dermatologists.
I have always known I need to wear sunscreen and why and that it’s one of the biggest contributors of early aging, but I think the way the information is delivered really makes an impact on an audience and she certainly got me to stop being lazy.
Has someone already dubbed you the Queen of Sunscreen? You definitely are. I have the issue of super sensitive eyes. I was dedicated to mineral sunscreens, Australian Gold being my favorite, but have been trying some chemical and hybrids. I do like the Canmake Mermaid Gel and am curious about more Japanese and Korean options. Happy Day Dr. Dray!
I have the super sensitive eyes problem as well. And the Australian Gold, which used to be my favorite, unfortunately started to irritate my skin after starting to use a retinol on a regular basis. I've now settled on the Cetaphil Redness Control spf 30. That's enough protection outside summer, where I live and both my skin and my eyes aren't bothered by it. It's all mineral (zink + titanium nano) but the cast disappears within minutes and it's neither drying nor overly shiny (I'm on the oily side, naturally). And while it's not cheap, it's still in the affordable range, imo. Definitely recommend it to anyone with sensitive skin or eyes.
If you love Japanese sunscreen, please try the Kose Cosmeport Perfect UV Gel. It's the best sunscreen that i've ever tried, and it comes in a 100 ml bottle. The other great options are the Skin Aqua UV Super Moisture Milk which Dr Dray recommended a few weeks ago, Bioré UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence and Verdio UV Moisture Essence. They're all very affordable, even compared to Korean sunscreens. In my country, Skin Aqua is only $3, while both Bioré and Verdio are only $6. Bioré contains alcohol and fragrance, though, and Kosé contains alcohol, but it's fragrance-free.
I agree that we need to see more tinted sunscreens at the drugstore but one that I really like is the all good tinted sunscreen, it has a neutral tint that looks good on olive complexions and doesn't feel too greasy or matte
I LOVE the la roche posay spf 100! i'm on my 4th tube of it! it is super moisturizing and glowy if you like that sort of look. I got off accutane about 8 months ago so I wear it every day and am comforted knowing that it's protecting my sensitive skin. NOTE - while i usually use this as my moisturizer, on days that i add a moisturizer before i have noticed that it might pill over top. However it doesn't pill when i use the la roche posay moisturizers. i stick with those.
Hi Dr. Dray, I still use and love La Roche Posay Shaka SPF 50+ fragrance free sunscreen! Thanks to you for reviewing it. I also use the Drmtlgy Universal Tint sunscreen around my eyes on top of the Shaka.
EVY has been my go-to sunscreen brand for the last year. I recommend anyone who wants to try it to buy the kids sunscreen since it is a lot cheaper and has the exact same ingredients as the adult version, minus the pretentious, price-upping ingredients like collagen or vitamin c.
Before I tried sunscreen I had almost flawless skin but apparently I have a sunscreen allergy that causes bumps, redness, and itchiness on my face especially forehead (which can be mistaken for fungal acne, heat rash, acne rosacea, or closed comedones etc) and my bumps leave hyperpigmentation so I have no choice but to put on makeup which causes yet another irritation. And yes I tried all kinds of SPF including tinted iron oxide oatmeal baby face sensitive skin 100% physical sunscreens. I know SPF can do a lot of good for a lot of people if they don't mind the breakouts, looking like Casper the ghost, or don't mind looking like they used Crisco as a moisturizer but for those like me scarfs hats visors and shades are a better option...
I love European Sunscreens, I my hyperpigmentation faded 10x faster. Now I’m hook for life lol plus they also add so antioxidants which I love since I don’t like to use something in the AM. My favorites are Vichy UV Age Daily and Isdin Spot Prevent
I am still in love with the Walgreens Sensitive Skin (purple bottle) sunscreen you suggested as a dupe for Elta MD. Can’t beat that $2.99 price point! Especially since you get 3 oz of product too.
I tried that because of her video also! Loved the way it looked and the price but it burned terribly. I can’t believe a sensitive sunscreen still burned my sensitive skin :(. Now I’m just sticking to all mineral.
I have not tried another sunscreen since I discovered the ISNTREE HYALURONIC SUNSCREEN !!! This stuff is good. Does not sting, even when used along with Tretinoin anti/aging... Dries down... I wear it under make-up. And, it has the newer sunscreen filters that we don't get over the counter here. Highly recommend!!!!!
I've been watching your videos for years and gotta say thank you. I have a good idea of your workload as a physician and your channel helps so many more patients than any individual could in an office. That's for being consistent with your videos and continuing to provide excellent content!
I would like to recommend Cotz as a great tinted mineral sunscreen that feels very hydrating and is even great as a primer. It’s not ultra cheap but it’s a great mineral sunscreen.
When you said this was the best for dark skin on your last video I ordered 10 bottles thank you so much for your help I am a driver and in the sun constantly and I need really good sunscreen
My favorite sunscreens from this year were Aveeno Protect & Hydrate SPF 60, Black Girl Kids SPF 50 and Sonrei Clearly Zinq SPF 60. I'd love it if you could review Aveeno and Sonrei! 🥰
I wear only mineral-based sunBLOCK that has moisturizing and priming qualities, so I have only ONE layer of product under my foundation/BB Cream or other base. Oh and it should be fragrance-free and give a good finish if I choose not to wear any base at all. I've just discovered BLISS brand Block Stop SPF 30, it's cheap and easy to get at Target. It does have a light lavender scent fresh out of the tube, but it dissipates before you finish rubbing it in. Slight tint, velvet finish and no white ghostly cast. And the little bit of scent doesn't kick up my rosacea. Now, what excites me are Dr. Dray's earrings...!
Unseen Sunscreen from Supergoop & Elta MD UV clear sunscreens are the bomb! They are both black girl friendly with no cast. Elta MD is a mineral SPF. Supergoop is chemical. Supergoop works the best under makeup, but both are good and non irritating if u have acne prone skin
Do NOT put Netraguena Invisible Sunscreen on forearms and then wear a white lab coat. My lab coat is still orange 🍊! I like it on my face - it DOES sting my eyes.
My sunscreen of the year is bioderma photoderm max SPF 50+ creme...it is very moisturizing, gives dewy finish but it will not make you look like a grease ball even after reapplication... doesn't Sting around the eyes.....it might not look good on deeper skin toned beauties but it works great for me...
I agree the Cytaphil mineral sunscreen is the best mineral water resistant drugstore sunscreen I have been able to find in the USA. I just ordered the Avene one I am crossing my fingers it doesn’t irritate my skin like US chemical sunscreens do.
I bought the Avene sunscreen when I was in UK last month. It worked amazing since my skin really became dry because of the cold weather. Now I'm in the Philippines and I can't use it without looking very greasy 🥲
The MD SolarScience lip spf is fantastic, agreed a favorite, the red is beautiful! I used the Cetaphil a ton this summer outside running and gardening when I didn’t want something with a tint.
Yay Avene intense protect is my fave too on my deeper skin tone. It has never rubbed off on my clothing. Love it 💜 please could you review Inzincable by Dr V (RUclipsr). It is a mineral for darker skin tones. Would be good to get some mineral suggestions for us. Thank you and have a great week.
There are Italian pharmacies that ship internattionally... but the shipping is pricey, 20 dollars or more... you need to do a big order with friends or family
My favorite is always Murad city skin age defense sunscreen SPF50 (Physical and free of fragrance). Although it's expensive, I always end up going back to it no matter how many others I have tried.
Neutrogena Invisible Daily has become one of my favorite sunscreens of all time and Im brown and live in s fl. I also enjoy neutrogena clear face/body spf 30 and lrp double repair spf 30.
After hearing Dr Dray said about Neutrogena Sunscreen is so true, they sting so bad around my lip area! I do hope the Daily Invincible sunscreen comes available in my country. 🤞
Epionce is my holy grail. I use Australian Gold botanical on my forehead b/c I get oily there, but that is too trying elsewhere and Epionce is perfect....it also helps me use a bit of cheaper sunscreen.
I’ve tried EltaMD UV Elements tinted, but the tint is all wrong for my skin. I have since moved on to one you previously recommended, Colorscience Sunforgettable with SPF 50. The tint in this one looks better on me and it’s comfortable to wear. Once I run out I’d like to try the Epionce. Thank you for all you do! ❤️
My favorite is the Skin Aqua UV super moisture milk SPF 50 because it really dries down better than the others mentioned. It wears well under makeup and is lovely. Pricey though.
I use the spf 60 Laroche Posay and it's so good. I'll try the 100 once I'm done with it. My only thing is that it has the US filters only for the one sold in the US so that's why I'm not too crazy about it and will keep using imported Korean or European sunscreens for the better filters.
It's so pricey, but Eczema & Dry Skin Moisturizer, Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50+, Newborns to Adults, Face & Body Cream, by Pharmaceris, 75ml is my go-to. I am fair skinned, so it dries with no cast and looks like a high end foundation. This is a sunscreen I will wear and treat like part of the beauty routine and not grudingly apply like a health care must-do. 5 stars!
Thank You Farmer Sun Protect Water Sun Cream SPF 50+ I found this this year and is my absolute favorite ever. I even repurchased, which I have never done, as I was continually searching for one I loved. My fave makeup artist Andreea Ali also uses it. Makeup sits great on it.
The La Roche Posay 100 did not work for me…. It did burned my eyes?! Not only that it rubbed off my other face products or rubbing it off itself. It turned into eraser like and left that gunk on my face. I used the cerave in conjunction with the sunscreen and the eraser was the results…
I found my best sunscreen of 2021 several months ago...SVR Sun Secure Fluide SPF50+ ...i was a little skeptical at the beginning but after 6 months I just adore it...no strong fragrance 4 different types of filters very lightway on the skin and it absorbs all the oil during the day I love it. It claims also to respect the environment especially the marine ones. I m happy with it😊
I am 63 Andrea and that (sunscreen and physically keeping out of the sun) is the only thing I have done and with my mum and grandmothers genes its all I have ever needed! I tend to just use whatever is unexpensive, from a well known source and available when I am shopping. Notably Nivea or Boots Soltan both in factor 50. I also use makeup with sunscreens on top of that.
Hello Sunday - The One That's Got It All spf 50. Hands down my holy grail find of 2021 for my oily leaning skin. Definitely a brand that is worth a try. They have spf primers, serums, lip and hand creams.
My favorite has been the Cetaphil sheer mineral sunscreen that you mentioned! it is so light weight but still moisturizing and makes me feel as if there’s nothing on my face which is key thank you so much it has become my every day spf! (I’m a light medium skin tone with combination/dry now that it’s cold in NY and have sensitive skin as well and it barely leaves a cast thankfully)
The neutrogena sunscreen in that pink and orange sunset packaging is my nightmare. I got the tube not the pump so maybe that’s different, but I wore it for a few days and it felt a little burnt for a second or two. But one day it just felt like I had my face on a hot iron and I was crying trying to wash it off, but the friction from my hands hurt. NOooo thank you. I’m never using neutrogena again.
my favorite and best sunscreen so far is the Illuminare Sun Protect SPF 50+ PA++++ from Japan. it has octinoxate, tinosorb s, and uvinul a plus. good for oily skin, absorbs quite quickly (it's got alcohol), and leaves my skin a very healthy look.
I love and rotate between the Colorescience Sunforgettable Total Protection Face Shield SPF 50 and the Supergoop Sheer Screen SPF 30. Sunscreen has finally become an EVERYDAY habit for me this year and I'm happy to have found not one but two formulas that I love to wear!
Can’t believe how much money I’ve saved because of your videos. I use sunscreen everyday, reapply once in the afternoon. My skin is better than when I was using ‘high end’ products🥰
I am using the Neutrogena Oil Free Facial Moisturizer with SPF 15 Sunscreen. I don't like it because it burns my eyes really bad and leaves a white cast. It taste bad too if it get's in your mouth. I'm defeinelty going to buy some of the products mentioned. Especiallly the lip balm with spf.
Yes I also tried the Neutrogena serum sunscreen that you talked about on this video. It has been absolutely amazing and I have been using it for about three months thanks to your review. I am absolutely in love with the sunscreen. My make up goes on beautifully with it as well.💕
My favorites of this year would be the La roche Posay melt in milk sunscreen 60 spf as well as 100 spf. Also the Elta md Uv shield 45 spf. Both are excellent and great on my skin. I switch between both from to time to time. I do want to eventually find a tinted sunscreen but I agree that they are really at high price point currently so I’ll wait until more come out.
My current favorite is still the Cetaphil moisturizer with SPF 50. I've been using it for about 6 months and absolutely love it. I also like Jack Black sun guard with SPF 45 and Walgreens sensitive skin sunscreen. Thanks for sharing your favorites. I wish we could get the Avene one here in the US. I'd love to try it. Happy Wednesday, Dr Dray! I hope you have a beautiful evening. 💕
The avene sunscreen does stain my clothes yellow and is extremely greasy on my skin, not just “a little shiny” no, it’s like a film of grease that never dries :// i wish i could like it because of the uv filters and all but it’s just so heavy
My favorite is La Roche-Posay Anthelios SX with Mexoryl. I prefer the look and feel of chemical sunscreens but am sensitive to avobenzone. This product has avobenzone as well but I can tolerate it because of the lower percentage.
Love the Epionce, have been using it for years. I have light-medium skin tone and it’s a perfect match for my skin, more beige than yellow. Only downside is you can’t tell when the bottle is empty, so I always have a back-up, and it does transfer to clothing but washes out. The bottle is a bit bulky for travel, too. I want to try the untinted, too.
I tried The Inkey List SPF 30 sunscreen (100% mineral UV filters) this year, and I love it. It is tinted and leaves no white cast on my face. I live in a humid tropical island so I love how matte my face is after applying the sunscreen, but people with dry skin may need additional moisturizer beforehand. It is a little bit hard to apply, but if you take some time, it will blend into your skin perfectly without peeling or balling. Also it is quite affordable.
I love my elta md uv elements tinted sunscreen; plays well whenever i apply makeup. But for a everyday sunscreen i use the walgreens sensitive skin 50. Only 3 bucks!😊 i wouldnt have known about if it wasnt for Dr. Dray❤😊

@@raraavis7782 Definitely will give that one a try, sounds perfect. Thank You!
What do you mean by "pill" 💀
Hi Dr. Dray, I still use and love La Roche Posay Shaka SPF 50+ fragrance free sunscreen! Thanks to you for reviewing it. I also use the Drmtlgy Universal Tint sunscreen around my eyes on top of the Shaka.
I’m in Sweden and I am in love with the ENVY mousse Spf50. It’s perfect for mature dry skin!! It also is amazing under foundation.
I ORDER IT FROM SWEDEN AND LOVE IT !!!
EVY has been my go-to sunscreen brand for the last year. I recommend anyone who wants to try it to buy the kids sunscreen since it is a lot cheaper and has the exact same ingredients as the adult version, minus the pretentious, price-upping ingredients like collagen or vitamin c.
Does Evy sting the hell out of your eyes like mine? 😂
Same, love it as well, but I do get very shiny from it 😅 gave it to my boyfriend, he works outside all day and it offers great protection
@@choky6144 It doesn’t, and I do used it around my eyes. I’m sorry to hear it stings you.
So exciting!!!! Yes!!! I use this Avene sunscreen as a moisturizer!!!that Epionce sunscreen is also a winner!!!
Your Betsey Johnson earrings sure caught my attention ! So pretty !
i feel the best sunscreen is the one you can afford after the current one finishes, sunscreens can get pricey
Before I tried sunscreen I had almost flawless skin but apparently I have a sunscreen allergy that causes bumps, redness, and itchiness on my face especially forehead (which can be mistaken for fungal acne, heat rash, acne rosacea, or closed comedones etc)
and my bumps leave hyperpigmentation so I have no choice but to put on makeup which causes yet another irritation.
If you will travel to Europe stock up on these French brands, they are affordable here, especially in France
i stock up on la roche posay at CDG airport. 😂 i cant believe the us vs euro price difference.
Black Girl kids SPF has been a favorite !!!! It’s perf!
U give the smartest skincare advice on RUclips, it’s why I love this channel.
I've been watching your videos for years and gotta say thank you. I have a good idea of your workload as a physician and your channel helps so many more patients than any individual could in an office. That's for being consistent with your videos and continuing to provide excellent content!
OMG! You are by far the best skincare advisor I’ve ever seen!! There is science behind the things you say
That is so comforting
I would like to recommend Cotz as a great tinted mineral sunscreen that feels very hydrating and is even great as a primer. It’s not ultra cheap but it’s a great mineral sunscreen.
Love Cotz sunscreens!
i was just searching around for a new sunscreen to try out and then this video pops up! it’s going to be a good day ❤️
Same! 😁
Thanks for watching
I ordered this chemical sunscreen today. It will be my first time using sunscreen! Can't wait to get it. I hope 🤞🤞I wear it.
I bought the Neutrogena. It’s awesome , less than 12$ , spf 60 and goes on nice !
I definitely want to give it a try!
My favourite sunscreen is SVR AK Secure DM Protect! moisturising and skin is super soft after applying!
Love your Betsy Johnson earrings!
I would love to get the Avene sunscreen! The US needs to approve these amazing filters! I wonder if there is a way to sneak it in here. 🤔
You can order it online to the US legally its just a little pricey for the shipping.
I ordered it online. Definitely worth the price. The bottle is big & can be used on your whole body. I love it.
I really wanted to try this and the US doesn’t carry it. All the websites I was considering ordering from look a bit sketchy.
There are Italian pharmacies that ship internattionally... but the shipping is pricey, 20 dollars or more... you need to do a big order with friends or family
Well if people can seek those terrible drugs and illegal I’m sure there’s a wsy
My favorite is always Murad city skin age defense sunscreen SPF50 (Physical and free of fragrance). Although it's expensive, I always end up going back to it no matter how many others I have tried.
It was good before they changed the formula.
5 stars!
I still have so much sunscreen left, but will be buying 100 spf water resistant. Think it’s worth it. Thanks for this
Thank You Farmer Sun Protect Water Sun Cream SPF 50+
I found this this year and is my absolute favorite ever.
I m happy with it😊
Love my Black Girl Kids Sunscreen. It makes my skin look better and leaves a nice glow.
Im from Australia and the Bondi Sands Hydra Face lotion and face fluid are the best sunscreens I have ever used!
My favorite sunscreen that I discovered this year is Bondi Sands.
Europe here, Dr. Dennis Gross light-weight SPF 50 - hugs!
I like the Avene tinted moisturizer. For my skin tone it looks the most natural and it doesn’t burn my sensitive eyes.
No breakouts? I did the neutrogeena mineral zinc and i broke out badly, I also have combination
COLOR SCIENCE new Flex is my new favorite!
Dr. Dray you're getting prettier and more glowing. ❤️
Yes I also tried the Neutrogena serum sunscreen that you talked about on this video. It has been absolutely amazing and I have been using it for about three months thanks to your review. I am absolutely in love with the sunscreen. My make up goes on beautifully with it as well.💕
What is the point of reviewing and stating Avene is the best if it is not even available in the USA especially if you yourself are located in the USA?
My favorite is still Drmtgy. The tinted one is perfect for my skin tone. And I also use skin Aqua gel. I stopped experimenting.
As someone with super dry skin, you introduced me to the Pipette Mineral Sunscreen SPF50 and I haven’t looked back since!!
Look on Amazon!
Why aren't other filters allowed in the us like they are in other countries?
This sunscreen def makes your skin look airbrushed and so nice! I have been wondering which one you were using. I’m going to give the Epionce a try!
Our queen has spoken 👑
A sunscreen that I really like, and which I don’t see much advertising for, is Tizo’s Ultra Zinc mineral sunscreen.
Surprised that Isntree Hyaluronic gel spf was not mentioned
Me too. That one is my favorite
Me toooo
I love my elta md uv elements tinted sunscreen; plays well whenever i apply makeup. But for a everyday sunscreen i use the walgreens sensitive skin 50. Only 3 bucks!😊 i wouldnt have known about if it wasnt for Dr. Dray❤😊
So sad none of these are available (at least not at fair prices) in Canada!
Why is Canada always SOOOO behind? :(
