Anita's beautiful voice could bring tears of joy or sadness. It's fitting that on her gravestone it reads "On Tour With The Angels" I listen to her sing with or without her very talented family everyday. 'The Appalachian Angel"
"The Appalachian Angel" was really singing from the mountaintop on this one! A recording of imperishable beauty. When God was handing out the immortal singing voices, Anita Carter was among the first in line!👍👏👍👏😃
Patsy Cline is only a year older than Anita Carter but I almost feel like Anita's voice is even more crisp and perfect if that's even possible??? 😲❤ Both ladies were awesome vocalists!
Thank you for listing the backing band and the production info, never knew it before. This is one of my favorite songs by a really underrated singer. Supposedly Elvis had a crush on her but her family didn't want that bad boy hanging around.
The Carters were already nationally famous stars when Elvis was just starting out in 1954 and Elvis opened for them on the Hank Snow Grand Ole Opry Jamboree in 1954/55. Anita was married at this time to Don Davis a steel guitar player. Elvis did flirt with Anita and faked feinting into Anita's arms causing some sparks to fly for sure and June called him out on it giving him trouble for faking it. The Carters all liked Elvis and he was a gentleman around them. But they did see his frenzy "fans" chasing him down after every show. After Heartbreak Hotel hit big. Elvis was headlining the show and then he moved on to the Rockabilly show with Bill Haley and the Comets and Buddy Holly and Jimmie Rodgers Snow.
@@tonylupo1764 Not just Elvis I believe that every male who met her or simply heard and saw her perform was in love with her. So glad she rejected Elvis. Or should I say her mother rejected Elvis. And Hank Williams.
Of all Carter family she had by far the best voice. Her sister June got more attention because she married a certain Mr Cash. Anita actually sang the original “Ring of fire” song that Johnny Cash covered and made famous. Much prefer her version of the song. Taken much too young at 66yrs. RIP voice of an angel.
Actually June Carter and Merle Kilgore wrote Ring of Fire because June was in love with Johnny and she had Anita sing it for Johnny so they decided to pursue Anita recording it. Johnny and Merle had a vision of Spanish Mariachi trumpets in the background so he went in the studio with the Tennessee three and they did Johnny's version of it but didn't release it until a year later. Johnny Cash had Anita Carter on his show several times he was the only guy that could get away with being married to her sister and say that Anita Carter had the best voice he had ever heard in country music at that time. When I die if I go to heaven and the angels don't sound like Patsy Cline Anita Carter and Alison Krauss when they sing I'm going to be very very disappointed
No purer voice has ever existed.
