Bizmatik - Not just a reactor. A genuine music critic. I love the way that you savor the music not just listen. Have you done a deep dive into the Gap Band?
I saw WAR just a couple years ago; they're still hitting hard! For a funky tune, try Slippin' Into Darkness; for a great summertime groove, go for All Day Music. Other great songs from WAR Summer Low Rider The World is a Ghetto the longer the versions, the better 😉
I love this band! This is one of my favorite songs by them. It's a crime that they aren't in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They are great musicians but they also have three or four members who are great singers. Eric Burdon was fired after the second album. Eric Burdon was with the Animals first.
Another song on the album that gets me in my feelings is "So". This one right here was the neighborhood motto for many young gang bangers growing up in Southern and Northern California. The music expressed feelings we were too hard core to say. Great reaction man!
WAR and SANTANA was what we used to call "The sound of the great Latin American Southwest. " You really want to get FUNKY ??? "BEETLES IN THE BOG" " SOUTHERN PART OF TEXAS" SMILE HAPPY" "CISCO KID" "ME AND BABY BROTHER" "HEARTBEAT" But their signature classic is "THE WORLD IS A GHETTO". Possibly the greatest Sax Solo EVER !!!! "DELIVER THE WORD" Baby !!!
Hey Biz, I thought I'd suggest another song by Eric Burdon & War, if interested. "Eric Burdon & War - They Can't Take Away Our Music (Live, 1971)" (by the channel: Eric Burdon Tribute Channel 6) --This song performed by Eric Burdon & War and featuring Sharon Scott & The Beautiful Newborn Children was released as a single in 1970. This was their last single before they split the same year. I read a quote from Burdon once about this song and I'm paraphrasing here but he said, "It's a need for change that drives us to join forces with our brothers and sisters all around the world...but change is slow." No truer words have been spoken. (IMhO)
Been a minute since I last heard this fine tune Biz. Thanks
