- My heart was a Lion but now it is chained, far do I travel and with travel I'm stained.
This is the beginning of the movie Ivanhoe, 1952. King Richard Lionheart has been captured in Austria while returning from his crusade in the Holy Land. Most of his people believed him dead, but Ivanhoe`s feeling that his king still lives took him on an endless quest from castle to castle, until at last he came to Austria...
The best IVANHOE movie ever! Nothing comes even close!
Absolutely .... especially Taylor’s half hidden opening scene behind the beaded curtain ..... or maybe you were speaking of its historical merit .... ☺
YES!
I watched this when I was 12 and loved it
In sixth grade (2004) I loved this at age 12. When the class got to choose a movie to watch at the end of the year, everyone wanted Finding Nemo. I mentioned this movie as a choice. God bless her, one of the sweetest, most understanding souls I’ve been fortunate enough to know, my teacher decided we’d give this movie 20 minutes. Class didn’t like it, but they liked this scene.
One of the best film ever and thanks to my grand dad for giving me this movie culture
Robert Taylor was such a cool actor
I have waited years for that scene on RUclips! Thank you!!!
So had I once. You are welcome!
I make these words my own. :D
approximately from January 1193 until February 1194.
You're not alone!
he was captured in Austria but brought to King Leopold from Bavaria later. Then he was imprisoned in the Castle Trifels. Today the area and Castle belong to Rhineland Palatinate. I live about 10 miles away from that castle. Parts of it are still in good shape and you can see some interesting things ther
Music of the heart. And a heart of lyon.
Great song. I've watched this movie just yesterday... In Italian language. Very nice voices, both of them.
"My heart was a lion, but now it is chained, far do I travel, and with travel I'm stained
I travel, I travel in search of my heart
I vowed me a vow and I pledged this to be,
Far will I travel until thou art free.
I travel, I travel in search of my heart
My heart was a lion, but now it is chained, far do I travel, and with travel I'm stained"
More accurate than the posted blurb.
RUclips is a paradox. It can wonderfully dig up old clips you never thought you'd see again but it can also shut down harmless channels as well.
Robert Taylor was a great Actor
Good thing Richard had that satchel lying around handy. I'd hate to be scrounging around looking for a suitable box or envelope at that moment.
My heart was a lion, but now it is chained,
far do I travel, and we'll travel and sing
I travel, I travel in search of my heart
I vowed me a vow and I pledged this to be,
Far will I travel until thou art free.
I travel, I travel in search of my heart
My heart was a lion, but now it is chained,
far do I travel, and we'll travel and sing
Ivanhoe my favorite Knight
Totally accurate depiction of how Richard was found.
I vowed me a vow and I pledged this to be,
Far will I travel until thou art free.
My favourite film
great movie
Love this movie
same
Funny side note, Guy Rolfe, who plays Prince John is actually descended from the Plantagenet family and was a cousin of mine. I myself have previously been engaged to play another of our ancestors at the battle of Hastings, William the Conqueror.
That's cool that you can trace your family that far back. I also am descended from the Plantagenets through one of Prince John's illegitimate sons, Richard Fitzroy.
Great movie!
My heart was a lion, but now it is chained, far do I travel, and we'll travel and sing
I travel, I travel in search of my heart
I vowed me a vow and I pledged this to be,
Far will I travel until thou art free.
I travel, I travel in search of my heart
My heart was a lion, but now it is chained, far do I travel, and we'll travel and sing
thank you :)
Correction: it's not "and we'll travel and sing", it's "and with travel I'm stained"
Knights Cross for Ivanhoe !
Wouldn't sing it while strolling with my wife
They never talk about Ivanhoes brother Ivanpimp we need to hear his story
Presumably he's roaming Austria to find where Richard the Lionheart is imprisoned
If you've ever been to central Europe you know that 12th century castles literally litter the countryside, and the alpine geography hinders travel
I'm not saying this premise is impossible, I'm saying dannnngggggg the persistence of an exiled penniless knight from one of the last Saxon houses of Norman England seeking the life of his very Norman king!
Hence why he sounds horse of voice. Been singing that song for a good while poor blighter.
Sublime score
Jadore cette partie du filme quand il joue le ttoubadour
The three Lions.... England
Robert Taylor was great
He was, but he and George Sanders were too old for their roles. I believe Ivanhoe was 19.
@@robertbrandywine Yeah in the novel perhaps but you know the stories shown in movies are mostly much more different than described in novels
Far do I travel and with travel am stained.
So they both know the words to this song. Was it pre-planned, I mean was there some sort of fall back plan because King Richard knew he may be captured?
The next scene is a little disturbing. Ivanhoe sneaks into a monk's room while he's sleeping and forces him at knifepoint to read Richard's letter. He couldn't have walked into a church somewhere and just asked for someone to read it?
Miklos Rozsa firma la partitura. Despues, Ben-Hur, Rey de Reyes, El Cid....
shame that the song is not full
What?
it is shame that is not full song
Joze Butinar This is the full song. There is no extra part of this song.
shame becoze is very beautifol song
Imho the melody is simple and one could add any number of extra stanzas to sing, it just takes a little imagination is all 🙂
Anyone know the notes??
Como, Wilfrid de Ivanhoe prefiere Rowena a Rebeca? No se entiende, a menos que sea racista
Describing a married life???
it fills good to be me
👁️🥳💩💯✍️👌
😅😮😅😮😮😅😅😅😅😅
