As human beings we present ourselves in accordance with our nature and abilities.
So Trijang Rinpoche and Zimey Rinp;oche (who was appointed to be in charge of making available to lamas modern education ideas) so both from His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Tibetan people they held high seats in Tibetan society.
While being in the highest seats of power in the Tibetan government in exile, Zimey Rinpoche and some in the Gelug establishment thought the Dalai Lama's effort to bring ethics, morality and philosophical beliefs to be essential to religion was in conflict with Guru Yoga or the Testament of the Supreme Father.
Shugden worship is replete with personal and individual benefits--but for society as a whole and for monasteries and countries that embraced Shugden worship it has been a story of shame and destruction--why was the holy seat of Gaden Monastery ruined by enemies--because shugden adherents held sway some say.

Shugden followers sent a letter to His Holiness the Dalai Lama: We made three flesh offering to mark the Tibetan New Year--if you are not careful you will be next.
This murder of a Gelug Geshe and his two attendants was a turning point--my beliefs is that before this His Holiness was giving advice but after this murderous display of Shugden power the Dalai Lama became stern.
