Always like when you let us know if the site is snorkel friendly too, I watch all your videos with that in mind cuz we are snorkelers only. We Love Bonaire thanks for your videos
Thanks for pointing out to keep away from the mangroves. They’re so important to protecting the island during storms, and providing shelter for so much life.
Agreed Caleb! I remember when the big rocks blocking that area were not there and people would drive their trucks all the way to the shore. I'm so glad they're there now. We've got to tread lightly and protect Bonaire's (and everywhere) landscape whenever possible. Thanks for watching and taking time to comment!
Kevin and Liz Grogan STINAPA and everyone in the island has done a great job improving the marine park, and partnering to work on the island top side too.
There’s a LOT involved in answering that question. What’s most important to you in selecting a place to stay? Do you prefer a resort, hotel, apartment/condo or villa? Do you want to be within walking distance to restaurants? What’s your budget? Will you be shore diving? Wind surfing or kiteboarding? Are you traveling alone? With a family? A group of friends? We’re happy to point you in the right direction if you can answer these questions. There are all sorts of options. We hope to have a video about this subject in the future. Thanks so much for watching!
@@KevinandLizGrogan Thank you for your response. Sorry for such a vague question. We will be shore diving. We would like to be out of town. Beachfront would be preferred. Trying to stay around 100-150 per night. One bed and one bath with a kitchen. Thank you
@@danvarella1243 given your criteria I believe Belmar fits the bill belmar-bonaire.com/. You can find some of the apartments on airbnb and local agency websites too. They get good reviews and repeat visitors. We’ve not stayed there, but have stayed in the house that shares a fence on the southern side. It’s a good area, convenient to town and all things South. The diving out front was better than expected given that it’s in a “populated” area. It proved to be be a good location for an ostracod dive too. Check out bellafontebonaire.com/ too. It’s close to Belmar and is very nice. It’s on our list to stay one day. Not sure if their rates meet your criteria, but worth a look. Have a great trip!
Hi Dan! I believe some of the dive resorts like Buddy, Captain Don's and Divi have buddy sign-up boards (for lack of a better term). It's always good to ask in the dive shop too as someone else may have inquired about a buddy. If you're not staying at a dive resort, check with the shop providing your tanks. Also, I see people posting all the time in online forums like ScubaBoard, Trip Advisor and even Bonaire FaceBook groups looking for buddies. Maybe give that a try? Enjoy your trip!
I see that you use a trek pole in many of your videos. Is there a particular one that you recommend and how many inches is it when you collapse it? Where do you put it while diving. Thxs!
Great video series. Thank you for making these. Do you recommend wetsuit, wet skin or just shorts? Is the water warm like say Cozumel? Is there fire coral to avoid? Any recommendations for night diving? Do you need or recommend a dive flag?
Thanks for watching Turtle! I’m happy to answer your questions. Exposure protection is personal preference. Depending on time of year, in my experience, the water temp ranges from 79 to 84 degrees, although many divers may dispute this wide of a range. Sep and Oct offer the warmest temps. Jan - Apr will have the coolest temps. Liz is cold natured and wears a Bare 5mm full suit plus a skin. I hate wearing a full suit. Hate it. I wear a long sleeve Frogskinz top (similar to sharkskin) under a 3mm jacket. There are times when I wear just a thermal rash guard under a 2/1 long sleeve neoprene top (both O’Neil). Yes, there is fire coral. You do not need a dive flag. Plenty of great night dives. The Hilma Hooker is pretty cool at night, as well as the Salt Pier (it’ll be crowded). Of course the best night dive on Bonaire (potentially the planet) is an ostracod dive. If you’re on island 2 to 5 days after a full moon, it’s a must do. Here’s an article www.diveoclock.com/destinations/Caribbean/Bonaire/Ostracods/. Thanks again!

Thank you for so much great content and video footage. We will be in Bonaire in November. Any recommendations on places to stay?

Great video! Can you send me a link for that walking stick if it’s collapsible?
Thanks for watching Doug! There’s a link to the walking stick/trekking pole in the video description.
Great video. What does she do with the hiking stick once she is in the water?
We attach them to our tanks with latex tubing. I show you how in this video bit.ly/bonaireshoredivingtenthings .
