We tow a 23 Ft. camper (4,000 Lbs) using a weight distribution hitch & electric brake set-up with our Ridgeline, the ride is great while towing and it handles the load very well even up steep grades, It,s awesome in the snow, it fits in my garage, enough room for a mechanics tool set in the under bed storage space, great for tail-gating especially with in bed stereo speaker system, It’s pretty fast no F-150’s or any other truck have been able to pass me on the highway, lol
I really like the Ridgeline and yet feel the Trailsport could be so much better! Honda is one of those car manufacturers that goes 7/10ths.... They do some weird things and it takes them years to implement a design or feature that actually makes sense. Look at how long it took them to revise the center arm rest. No real under body protection and not much of an upgrade in ground clearance. Off-Road tires do not make it "trail ready". However...the best part of this truck is the bed design and naturally aspirated V-6. That alone..... But for heavens sake Honda... please BUILD a real Off-Road version of this truck with skid plates and ground clearance!!! Just do it Honda!

I have a 2024 Ridgeline Black Edition and it is really nice. It drives so much better than the 2016 Tacoma TRD Sport that I traded in. It is has ventilated seats and AC controls in the back. It also has lane keep assist, so when driving on the highway you can take your hands off the wheel for a while. I have been getting over 25 mpg on the highway. It is a great truck for city driving.

Had 2006 Ridgeline until 2020. I went with good looking “real truck” Toyota Tacoma Off Road in 2020. Just traded it in for 2024 Ridgeline Trailsport. Happy to be back in Honda. Always missed the in bed trunk, massive rear seat storage and car like ride.
Interesting new trim level. Additional benefits or changes (Trail-watch system, more ground clearance, Sport mode/Econ consolidation, digital speedometer, etc…) are likely on Honda’s radar to include in future models or new trim levels.
Drove an RTL today. I'm more interested in the Trailsport but they didn't have one in stock. Really nice truck. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna downsize from my 2017 Silverado in the next week or so. Just gotta track down the color I want. I've had an Avalanche, and two Silverados since 2004. They all had reliability issues. Time to jump ship on Chevy.

If this had a 10-12 inch clear would be great. Then had a lower street tune suspension would be cool. I'd probably go street tune since i don't see much mud or snow.
Given that the bed is of composite material, is it possible to place a rail system? Similar to the utili-track system found in the Nissan Frontier or have a DIY rail system as in the Ford Macerick?
This and Nissan Frontier are the only V6 left for mid size truck market... I was gonna get Tacoma but made in Mexico and turbo 4 made me stay as far away as possible from it.

I really like the RIdgeline and I try to root for it. I do totally agree with Raiti in saying it needs a bigger infotainment center and front facing camera as well as 360 camera I think would help. To me, the dash seems dated compared to other newer pickups. The exterior of the car I really have no complaints.
If Honda raised the front end by 2in and the back by 1.5in from the factory I would be sold on this truck. Oh by the way I bought this exact truck and put a small lift on it. now I can do a little offroading with confidence.
IMO this is really a city boys (lets go camping or jetskiing) truck, first off I absolutely love that lockable storage in the bed with the spare tire as you can fill it with ice and drinks and some food to cook on the fire but it goes downhill from there for me. Its not really a Trail or Offroad pickup so I kind of chuckle with the Trailsport name badge on it. For the same or less price of $46k you can get a 4X4 Ranger offroad or Tremor pkge or GMC AT4 you get full skid plates and offroad tires and lifted and ready to actually go off road without having to buy skidplates extra. (Note - I didn't not include the AT4X or Zr2 Bison or Ranger Raptor etc. as those will be alot more expensive.)
The only reason to buy anything else is if you routinely tow over 5k lbs, or if you routinely do serious off roading. Most RL owners do not (which is totally fine)
You can also buy a full-size Raptor. Obviously, it's not meant for any of those things you mentioned. Keep rollin on those 35's, I get it being a fellow hunter.
Great truck! The interior needs a little updating, not a big fan of the push button transmission, all in all still a great vehicle that checks many boxes!
all models have the same ground clearance, the trailsport is not higher.. you can have the back up camera in full screen mode. you did not have it in full screen.. the Black Edition has HVAC controls in the rear and usbc ports in the rear.
Joe, I can tell you I like this truck. Enough so that I bought one. With that said the technology in this truck is atrocious. For a 2024 Honda it still has last gen Honda sensing equip. It doesn’t have low speed follow for its adaptive cruise control, it doesn’t have led interior lights, no electronic parking break, no brake hold, no speed sign reading, no lane follow, and it’s auto high beam feature is just atrocious. Half the time they won’t turn on, the other half it’s just blinding passing cars. And as you mentioned the backup camera is horrible. Also there is a sport mode, you just press the drive button again, that’s why it says D/S.
I understand your sentiment, but that said the rest of the interior is a massive improvement over the 2023 and earlier. Better screen, wireless carplay, better digital gauge cluster, real center armrest, updated steering wheel buttons, etc. The safety stuff is disappointing, but not necessary IMO, I usually turn the lane stuff off. The rest of what you said are minor inconveniences, not really necessary. Could definitely use a 360 camera though, that’s frustrating.
Honda is inching ever closer to making this desirable - it finally looks like a truck. Some odd decisions - full LED is an easy win (or loss), not sure why Honda couldn't prioritize these few extra pennies on a vehicle that never was lacking in being a good car, but always has been lacking in desirability. It's still hard to really imagine this being used for true "truck stuff" (towing, off-road, etc) - but that softer, more suburban niche could be be an interesting - and profitable - alternative to the truck-y competition if they could just get it right. At least it will be reliable, comfortable, and hold its value.
I'm not sure what we are meant to do with the space "freed up" by using a push button gear selector. Set a pie on the middle console so I can snack on while driving? 🤔 Use it as a center seat for another passenger? 😵💫 I would just prefer a traditional handle on the gear selector. I hate my Mercedes' gear selector too.
Thank God it didn't use the Honda interior, from the CR-V or the Civic or the Accord. This actually looks good, sophisticated, and ergonomically correct.
The problem is you can get a 23 F150 STX 4x4 for the same price. The 2.7L gets the same mileage (epa rated at least). However, Honda usually exceeds their listed highway mileage in real world driving. I got the F150 because of the bigger cabin and slightly better capability, but now I'm thinking I should have gave the Ridgeline a fair chance. Essentially a base F150 or a loaded Ridgeline for the same price 🤔
I heard on the news, thieves are stealing the tailgates from trucks. Are ridgeline tailgates easy to steal? Gonna search now. Wish I got money. If I did I’ll choose a Forrester or this Trailsport
Both had issues, I trust the ZF9 more than the 10 speed though. ZF9 might have some weird shift points but it’s still made by the best transmission company in the world.
FYI there is no extra ground clearance in trailsport ridgeline 7.64 inches on all trims…unlike pilot trailsport which has 8.3 inches- makes no sense to me!
I had a 21 Ridgeline ... is it the best??? ... nope ... it had issues ... the 9spd ZF is wonky ... MPG wasn't great ... and I know in mine the bedliner (If you call it that) was starting to fade and get blotchy .... though having said all the not-so-good stuff the iVTM-4 could NOT be faulted it is the best I've ever driven ... Thanks Keith Chicago IL
@@billseiler4952 ...HI ... I sold it a few months ago and so far no replacement ...at the top my list (but also the most pricey) is the Chevy/GMC full size pickup with the 3L I6 DURAMAX Diesel ($60K) ... going towards the cheap the Nissan Frontier PRO-4X is a good robust vehicle (that gets really poor MPG) ($42K) ... and the elephant in the room is the Tacoma ... somehow Tacos have become famous overnight and are no longer inexpensive and I'm not really all that ga-ga about any 4cyl turbo motor in a truck. As for the RL being "comfortable" ... yeah but my 2019 RAM 1500 (w5.7HEMI V8) was just as comfortable and hauled/trailered significantly more and "on a good day" you might have seen 20MPG avg on the highway v. 22-24 with the RL .. hope if nothing else this was entertaining ... I'll wait for the fully BEV version of the BYD Shark. We are getting screwed, when it comes to vehicles, in the US. Kia also has a new truck coming out.
If its so great, lets see it crawl out of the bottom of the dumpster from a sales figure perspective, 52K out of 2.35M truck sales a year is TINY, I wonder how much in Influencer pay is made to you from Honda for being such a great shill, as you mentioned, it's a great crossover with a bed... BTW, if you go off roading with this and then a Ford Maverick Tremor, the Ford will smoke this thing for 10K less. Plus, Maverick has only been around for a few years and they still sell double vs. Ridgeline... I'm not a hater, JUST stating FACT's, so to the fanboys, zip it
So there are a lot of hate about the ridgeline but what about those ugly pos ford merrick or Hyundai cruz or even the ford ranger? I'll take the honda all day with better value and reliability
Given that most drivers are not doing serious off road activities so why not buy a Trail Sport and switch out the grabbers for a set of smooth riding street tires. You get the benefits is a smooth ride , stronger shocks and perhaps even better mileage figures. Anyone else agree?
One thing to know as a Ridgeline owner...You have to defend a lot of Ridgeline hate in comments. I love the Ridgeline, so bring it on!

100% agree, I have this truck as well. I came from a 2020 sonata, I know this truck is 10 times more reliable but i do miss the tech of my sonata
Interesting. Another online review of a Trailsport. None of the dealers in this area stock them. Mostly RTLs and a couple of Black Edition.
I'm not sure what we are meant to do with the space "freed up" by using a push button gear selector.
Set a pie on the middle console so I can snack on while driving? 🤔
Use it as a center seat for another passenger? 😵💫
I would just prefer a traditional handle on the gear selector.
I hate my Mercedes' gear selector too.
Good review with one zonk...the Trailsport has the same worst in class 7.6" of ground clearance as the other Ridgelines.
Legendary Honda
So tired of the pilot with a bed not a real truck bs
Yeah we get it
Great overall utility vehicle
Best not a truck, truck I’ve owned
There is a sport mode
Thank God it didn't use the Honda interior, from the CR-V or the Civic or the Accord. This actually looks good, sophisticated, and ergonomically correct.
It looks like the interior of an Odyssey from 2018. The interior is long overdue.
@@ArizonaHotSauce interior is nice, it is funny to see for some people if the front display is not sticking out "it is long overdue"...
@@olegklenin451 the iPad on the dash is the antiquated design. People don't see it.
Stupid question can a small plow for a driveway be put on the back of the ridgeline
You probably could find someone to outfit you. Especially if you live in WI with those winters.
I live in upstate ny
The problem is you can get a 23 F150 STX 4x4 for the same price. The 2.7L gets the same mileage (epa rated at least). However, Honda usually exceeds their listed highway mileage in real world driving.
I got the F150 because of the bigger cabin and slightly better capability, but now I'm thinking I should have gave the Ridgeline a fair chance.
Essentially a base F150 or a loaded Ridgeline for the same price 🤔

just make sure you watch the video below before you buy Ford...
No crossing solid lines?
Nope
I heard on the news, thieves are stealing the tailgates from trucks. Are ridgeline tailgates easy to steal? Gonna search now. Wish I got money. If I did I’ll choose a Forrester or this Trailsport
06 for ridgeline
Not until when they replace that junk ZF 9 speed box with their own 10 speed as they did to the new Pilot.
Hopefully in the next refresh.
10 Speed has issues
ZF9 2nd Gen is much better
Both had issues, I trust the ZF9 more than the 10 speed though. ZF9 might have some weird shift points but it’s still made by the best transmission company in the world.
is it ok for off road?
The shoulder maybe.
Way too expensive for what it is. Don't wanna pay extra 10 grand for few badges and different tires
FYI there is no extra ground clearance in trailsport ridgeline 7.64 inches on all trims…unlike pilot trailsport which has 8.3 inches- makes no sense to me!
Will there be a HYBRID version of the Ridgeline in the NEAR future??
Time for Redesign
I had a 21 Ridgeline ... is it the best??? ... nope ... it had issues ... the 9spd ZF is wonky ... MPG wasn't great ... and I know in mine the bedliner (If you call it that) was starting to fade and get blotchy .... though having said all the not-so-good stuff the iVTM-4 could NOT be faulted it is the best I've ever driven ... Thanks Keith Chicago IL
What did you trade it in for?
Thank You Keith Chicago IL
It's good but it's not for me I go deep wood hunting and this would not cut it just got a zr2
The Ridgeline has been around since 2006
I like the Ridgeline but not for any type of off-road functions.
Hey old fashioned light bulbs are the way to go...They are cheap to replace....WHO THE HELL WANTS TO PAY $1500 TO REPLACE AN LED TAILLIGHT?
So this color called blue sky?
I thought they called Sony grey
Maybe I wrong 😂
Looks like Sonic Grey Pearl.
Yah he called it wrong color. He also said 1 inch taller the standard Ridgeline. Doesn’t have the orange Ridgeline TrailSport floor mats . I think he made video in December before he got all facts . Just released video today.
Sure, but make fun of this truck all you like. My friends dodge, I and his Co workers Ford are always in the shop. This thing runs forever.
Funny how grown men think your toughness comes from a vehicle you drive.
in 2048 ill own one of these who can afford a car payment
That sounds like a plan!
Joe the Ridgeline was first introduced in 2006 shame on you LOL
Love your car video 📹
Time for a redesign
Time for 12.3 infotainment in the pilot
Time for redesign passport
Time for a hybrid option.
Come on Honda, step it up
I don't want a hybrid. Keep the V6
@GPG7754 Read!!! I said hybrid option
Like armrest in 2021 better
How come you say that Charles?
These are great for senior citizens, who need a little extra storage to haul multiple cases of Campbell's Soup home from the grocery store when they go on sale.
You really wasted your time to write that pathetic comment
Green valve caps. Still bs’n people on nitrogen filled tires huh. 100% pointless on anything but a race car
Great review as always.Bro .....but ...... With that ridiculous transmission......honda should call this the poser package
For years I’ve been waiting for Honda to offer a Ridgeline Dually. Maybe I should just give up hope. Great review as always, Joe!
Yes! Don’t let your dreams stay dreams!
It’s too expensive
Given that most drivers are not doing serious off road activities so why not buy a Trail Sport and switch out the grabbers for a set of smooth riding street tires. You get the benefits is a smooth ride , stronger shocks and perhaps even better mileage figures. Anyone else agree?
