Best OffRoad All Weather Tires?? Michelin Crossclimate 2 Off-road Review after 100,000 miles

  • The grip is amazing, but are the Michelin Crossclimate 2 tires good off-road? That is what I'm going to be answering today as we talked about the best all-weather tires available.
    Designed for year-round use in both the rain and the snow, the Michelin Crossclimate 2s were a powerhouse when they came out. By being able to satisfy triple snow peak rating, while at the same time being functional in all climates, these tires glazed the path for other all-weather tires..
    However, with all that grip and aggressive styling, one might assume that these would be the preferred tires on a Subaru or other off-road vehicle. Today, I want to go over a couple of the pros and cons of this situation, including how I think these tires have the best grip and rain or snow of any tire.
    With aggressive styling and insane weather ratings, we already know that these are going to be one of the top tires for breaking, acceleration, rolling resistance, etc.
    However, does all this style give us false confidence Are these tires really that great if you take them on the trail?
    After you watch my video, let me know if you have any questions I'd love to answer!

    I have noticed a trend the last couple years, off road doesn't seem to mean the same thing as it used to mean. These days "off road" just means off pavement. It used to mean no road or at least high ground clearance 4x4 required. There are even adventure motorcyclists who think a gravel road is off road.

      Hahaha I couldn't have summed it up better myself brother. That's what I was trying to say. They are slightly better, but by no means "off-road"

    So many people misusing what off road really means re tyres. No doubt big improvement over a cars summer tyres but not genuine as with 90% of todays SUV’s of all sizes that think going onto a kerb or simple gravel track is off roading, not! Excellent on my estate car for minor leaving of tarmac.

      Couldn't have said it better myself brother! That was the point I was trying to make! Just because of the design, they have to be a little bit better. But if you have a Subaru and you think these are going to give you any sort of off-road capability for the price, it would be a total waste of money.
      Don't get me wrong, these are still the best tires on the market. But I just wanted to give an honest opinion for all my Subaru guys out there wondering if they should put these on before their trip to Yosemite or Yellowstone.
      Might make a tiny difference. But not enough to justify anything.
      Exactly like you said Gary

      Brother, you are the reason I do this… I have been running these videos on these tires for almost three years. And getting comments like this make it all worth it. From the bottom of my heart, thanks for the views, comment, and support my brother!!!
      Like I said, they have the best grip in the game. Literally, no comparison on the road (any conditions). However, like stated, the 2% increase in dirt road grip isn’t worth it. It’s better than a pair of summer slicks… but that isn’t saying much.
      So yea, unfortunately the “tractor tire grips” don’t do a whole hell of a lot off road.
      I might have made it out of a few spots in Yellowstone that I may not have with slicks though.
      Man, happy I could help you make the decision. Are you liking them so far?

      Hey Jake!
      Got the tires installed today. They look great! Tire shop said they were unable to get it properly balanced due to 2 of the wheels being bent, which I was unaware of. He ordered me 2 more wheels and I have an appointment to have them switched next Saturday.

      Hey brother, so I definitely wouldn't say anything bad about them. You can just look at the grip, and common Sense is going to tell you it has better grip than your regular summer tire! But if you're going to be buying them specifically expecting some sort of fantastic off-road experience, I wouldn't. So just being honest!
      Once again, I can't say anything bad about the tires LOL. But I hope they honestly helped a little bit. By the way, awesome to hear! Huntsville has grown so much, I bet you wouldn't recognize it when you came back if you ever had a reason to

    well my friend your videos have been great through a chain of fortuitous events I had to replace the tires on my vehicle immediately same day no waiting so I went to Costco but they did not have the cross climates in stock so I had to go with the Bridgestone weather peaks the direct competitor to cc2, so we shall see how it goes One thing I can say is I remember when I first got the cross climate dues on the other car they felt squirmy and I could immediately tell my rolling resistance was reduced however that's not the case with these bridgestones I will be quite interested to see how they do in the rain as well as how they hold up as they age

    • @jakeofreshly
      @jakeofreshly  3 месяца назад

      Man is great to hear it. One thing I'm interested is when I have to replace these tires. It looks like I have a long way to go, but I think I might replace them with a pair of regular tires just so I can try and see how much smoke I was blowing in these videos. As of right now, there's no tire better. But I would like to test it against a regular Tire just to see if something I wasn't expecting happened... Like they were super quiet, or something like fantastic gas mileage.
      Because those were my two biggest complaints

    I live somewhere where it rains a lot. I need tires that are decent on the road, but will not let me spin helplessly on muddy unpaved roads or water-saturated grassland. These tires so far seem to be my best bet, considering getting them soon.

    • @jakeofreshly
      @jakeofreshly  5 месяцев назад

      Yeah man. I'm just trying to give a really objective, fair opinion on what I think. I wasn't trying to beat the tires up at all.
      If you just look at them, you can see they have the most aggressive grip on the market. By default, that means they're going to have fantastic grip off-road. Better than any summer tire out there, and better than your standard radios.
      However, if you had a set of standard tires on your vehicle. And you wanted to go mud riding. I would go buy some mud tires. Because these are not going to give you some 200% increase in mud riding.
      So all in all, I haven't found a situation these tires don't have good grip in. I think you're going to love them.
      However, I wouldn't go and buy them for a Silverado to go mud riding. There's a lot better tires for that

    I recommend Falken Wild Peak tires if you want an all-weather tire that might be better suited for offroading since it's an All terrain all-weather tire.

    Hi. Do You have the Michelin cross climate 2 SUV version of these tires? Because as i see, for Suv tire sizes like 265 60 18 - for example Jeep grand Cherokee there is version with SUV in the tire name. And on producer site thay say that it have improved sidewall strength.

      So I have a Mazda CX five for front wheel drive. It’s not like I’m going anywhere on trails. I’m not going necessarily off-road. But if you ever been up to Banff or Yosemite or Yellowstone.… Or even if you go to the Smokies a lot of times you can get up some really really tricky Trails. And when it’s snowing… You wish you wouldn’t have even gone. So I haven’t gone off road trying to tear my vehicle up. But I have not been restricted to smooth Payment like most people have.
