So glad you compared the clay with the hard court version - I have both! I actually prefer the clay court version, it's more supple/comfortable. I used to use the hard court on clay but really happy with these clay shoes. As you said, stability, grip, bounce and controlled slide. I wish the laces were a bit wider though as you have to be careful not to garrot your ankles. Will try the cats cradle for sure.
I liked the clay as well- maybe that extra tread thickness made them more plush- yes Asics laces are terrible for sure - im actually doing a best shoelaces for tennis soon so hopefully that will give you some ideas for new ones- thanks for the feedback 👍
Big thanks as ALWAYS for the effort you make to create these videos and pass on all this amazing free information. Truly brilliant and I hope companies like Asics and Nike etc get in touch or are already in touch to have you work with them. Brilliant stuff mate and thanks again.
Hello Zack! Great vid! I knew the cat cradle as “runners’ loop”. Good point on pressure points when just normally lacing the further back eyelets. I can see the loop taking that away 👌🏼
Great review as always. I've always had a different shoe for clay and for hard court surfaces since I find all-court shoes too slippery for clay. My current clay shoe of choice is the Solecourt Boost Clay and for hard courts I use Gel-Res 7 (with Court FF2 waiting in line). The Solecourt Boost clay treads are showing a bit of wear after 10 months of use. I only wish Asics would sell Court FF2 in clay version in U.S. (they do, only in Europe).
Yeah the states has issues getting the mod shoes - court ff 2 original is great for clay though I had no issues with the treads so you should be fine - thanks 👍
hmm interesting I have the gel resolution 8 and I thought the pocket on the tongue was to pull the tongue for a better fit while wearing the shoe but saw you hide the shoelace knot and ends under it, dont know if that is the intended function for that pocket but what you did is pure genius
That Gel res 8 just proved it is extremely unstable at ankle. MR. Gaston while playing Thiem fell on his knees as his ankle turned and slipped, could see it for sure on slow mo replay
What would you recommend for astro courts/ synthetic carpet with sand courts?? I play in Dublin and they have these all weather courts. What sole to use...hard, clay, all surface? (Some people from a local shoo recommend Clay because of the sand that is added). Thx 😊
For sure a clay court herringbone with a solid upper because sometimes the threads catch the shoe and you don’t want to roll - also you want a wider shoe in the forefoot - solecourt boost, court ff 2, GR8 clay, even the vapor x is a good tweener tread - stay away from hardcourt shoes like the gp turbo, wave exceed, ubersonics
The Tennis Pro Doc For the moment I use Nike Vaport Cage 4 All court ( kinda slippery), Adidas Solcecourt Boos all court (they do the job, new insole in there) and Adidas Barricade Boost all court ( they are pretty old and it’s time to say goodbye). I wanted to go for Nike vapor x clay, nike vapor cage 4 clay or ff2 clay. I don’t fancy the res 8 (don’t know why, they are not appealing for me 😂). Any suggestions? Kindly appreciated.
I’d go with ff 2 clay then- I’m not a huge fan or VC4 - the vapor x is fast and nice feeling but won’t be as stable as FF2 - just kinda what you’d rather have- feel or stability
The Tennis Pro Doc and now you tell me 😂....missed a really nice sale 90€ / pair. 🤪Thank you and keep posting your content...really helpful and nicely done!
Hey! I mostly play on carpet and clay. However I want a clay shoe bc the tournaments are on clay. Which should I buy the adidas sole court boost clay or this one? Thx for the videos😍
It depends - if you have a higher arch I would go either the boosts, if you have a wider foot the boosts, if you want more of a lighter feeling shoe then the GR8- glad you’re enjoying the content!
I tried these in a store and the dynawrap felt like it was pressing on the inside/medial side of my feet. Has anyone with the Gel res 8s found them to cause pain or does the dynawrap "soften" up? I have the solution speed and I need a more comfortable option.
I haven’t found it to cause pain but you may have a more prominent navicular bone that’s causing that and in that case may need something with a more forgiving collar like the court ff 2 or something like the Ubersonic 2
Good Morning. Could you let me know if there is a difference in the traction of the asics tennis soles (clay) in relation to color? white minus track and black plus track.
Do you switch to the pure strike? Great video and also would like to know if this have the same heel slipage as the 7s? I love the cushioning but Nike fit me way better. Thanks
I bought the shoe and had to return it...it’s actually strange, the frontal top part is not as flexible as it seems and too plush or fluffy that it makes your slower on court...traded it for the sole court boost
Hi Zach! If possible would love you to also do a review for the clay version of court ff novak/2! Just got them and wondering between the court ff clay and gel reso 8 clay, which one would be better. Loving the reviews, shoutout from Indonesia.
Just picked these up. Wondering if you would rate them as more or less cushioned than the hard court version. Only asking because of my metatarsalgia and I read all over the internet that a softer outsole = less plush comfort level. Is that true here too?
@@FootDoctorZach thanks for your reply. I meant by my question specifically the Asics Gel Resolution 8. ruclips.net/video/LXVtZ1b4sNw/видео.html in this video you meant that the Asics Gel Resolution 8 all court should also be fine on clay courts as long as the clay is not completely dry. Did I misunderstand anything there? Thank you again for the amazing content
@@FootDoctorZach the only thing bothering me on the resolution 8s is the pieces on the mid upper sole in between the laces (the orange pieces on your shoes) because I took out the original inlays and put my othotics due to flat foot. Now my othotics are thicker than the original inlays so that the pieces is pressing on my foot. Are they gonna expand with the time? they looked to my as if they aren't gonna do that becauce of their stiff material
Hi there, first of all really love your breakdowns on all the shoes.. really give great info and your personal opinion.. However I would like to ask you and other users for your opinion.. I don't play tennis. Never played actually.. I play basketball.. However I burn through soles very fast because i only play outdoor courts.. I have been using tennis shoes for the past 5 years and they are the best performing shoes for my use case.. I had multiple baricades, 3 resolution 7s and currently a cheaper adidas gamecourt clay version.. in my country Malaysia, its hard to get tennis shoes and harder for clay shoes.. I love my gamecourt clay shoes the grip is excellent and very durable.. I need the most grip for basketball but my gamecourt fits too lose and has no cushioning. I do like the extended soles to the side that prevents ankle rolls tho, gives a lot of confidence. My Resolutions 7 (all court) fits best, most comfortable, and has the best cushioning but seems like the grip is lacking compared to clay gamecourt and easier to roll my ankle due to the lack of extended sole base.. Anyways, what do you guys think I should get? 1.) Asics Court FF 2 (cheapest and on discount, best color) 2.) Adidas Solematch Bounce Clay (don't like the color and have to import, safest option, still slightly expensive) 3.) Asics Resolution 8 Clay (most expensive and have to import, dont mind the colors) Thank you for your feedback. Good work on the reviews! Comparable to other high profile basketball shoes reviewers..
shoe laces are absolute garbage as are the lace holes on this shoe. I like my shoe tight and these laces are like fishing line and they cut through the plastic top holes after a few days. hasn't fallen apart but asics accepted to replace them contact their warranty dept if happens to you. Do yourself a favor and buy standard laces before first use remove the crap fishing line lace. i had some nike fluo orange ones lying around happen to be the same color as part of the shoe so look great. note the front "brace" some people are cutting the lace inside the shoe for more comfort because it makes getting into the shoe hard esp with thick socks. i agree the ankle support isn't perfect, boost is better

It’s called the “shoelace garage” I can’t take credit, it’s Asics design- although it is one of the coolest things I’ve seen on a tennis shoe

I’ll put them on my spreadsheet 👍
Great channel man, thanks for all the information!! Which do you suggest me to buy for clay game? Gel Resolution 8 Clay or Solution Speed FF 2 Clay?
Thanks! I personally like the FF2 clay

In your personal estimation which do you feel would be the most playable shoe on clay in the between the Solution Speed in the Resolution 8?
The SSFF2 for me personally - with the clay treads, theyre both useless with the all court
