I live in the village where David Brown tractors were made. They are simple to work on, reliable and long lasting. Unlike modern tractors the electrics are basic. Good luck with your project, I doubt that you will have many problems!👍🇬🇧
If there's any other people or companies you want to recommend, leave a comment and I'll update the description with the info you provide. Edit: As of January 2023, the David Brown Tractor Club site was hacked and the Forum is no longer available. Unfortunate situation where lots of knowledge on the forum was potentially lost. A searchable archive of the forum is available at dbforumarchive.com
Thanks a bunch for watching and commenting! Yeah, we've got to keep these tractors alive. If you're interested, I've got a bunch more videos on my channel where I'm going through the Selectamatic hydraulic system. Replacing all the o-rings since they're mostly all dry rotted, but taking the opportunity to show how the valve chest is removed, going through the valve chest, and a bunch of other stuff. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching and commenting! Glad this was helpful! Be sure to check out the rest of my videos where I'm putting together a series on the hydraulics and PTO stuff. Barry's channel is a wonderful resource. www.youtube.com/@manfromthemist1958/videos Lance at BundyBearsShed is about to start work on a 880 and he worked for David Brown back in the day. Be sure to watch out for those videos in the future. www.youtube.com/@BundyBearsShed/videos Thanks again for watching!
Well thanks to Barry I've come across your channel what excellent information you have and are sharing absolutely brilliant. I use David Brown parts company I've always found them most helpful I've never actually used Barclay Williams as off yet. I've subscribed to your channel keep up the good work
My name is David Brown and I have 3 David Browns, two 880 selectamatics and a 996. One of the 880's is in rough shape and has a flat tire so I will probably use it for parts, The other 880 needs work on the hydraulics and the 996 runs great and I have had is since 2010. I had a 990 seletamatic in the early nineties when I had a hobby farm and I wish I had not sold it. I grew up in the 60's and 70's working on a dairy farm and the the guy I worked for had Case tractors but the neighbor had a DB.
Thanks Shane I learnt a few things, I use similar places, I find some Facebook sites have good information in the files section as well. Blame Barry for my sub, lol.
Oh wow, thanks! I totally forgot to mention and show the db facebook group files section! Thanks for the reminder. I've been watching a bunch of your videos lately after Barry mentioned you in some of his vids. Sub'ed to you on this account now too. Keep up your good work, great videos on your channel!
I Just Found Your Site. Excellent. I have 2 David Browns. A 770A. & A. 1212. I’m in Pennsylvania. I Grew up on a Farm in Ireland. My Father had only DBs. 990s & A 1200. Fond Memory’s. Nest 🪺 I Flew Out Of. 😳🧐. I am Hoping at some point to Get both Back to Original. But I’m Illiterate on Mechanical ⚙️. But you have Given me a Great Starting Point. Thank You. I’ve Subscribed to All of Your Content. Good Luck 👍🍀
DB1200 was running, shut off. Won't restart, someone suggested timing gears stripped. I took the timing cover off, I can see 2 gears turning teeth look ok. But no fuel coming from IP. Injection pump of rebuilt from UK 2 years ago

You might want to give the David Brown Tractor Forum another try. The site was hacked recently and mostly recovered. The sign-up process is now working again.
Hi there, thanks for the comment! Firstly make sure you've got a good service manual for your tractor. I'm not sure what model tractor you have, but this link will contain many good options for service manuals: sites.google.com/site/deerebrown/david-brown-info-ii I've not taken my final drives out yet, but Barry over at the Man fromthemist RUclips channel is doing the refurbishment of his final drives and has many videos on it. Be sure to check out his channel. www.youtube.com/@manfromthemist1958/videos
Hi Shane I need to split my 990 between the axle and gear box , do I need to pull the pto housing first ? Or can I split right at the gearbox and rear axle ?
You have probably some the job by now, but in case you haven't... I'm removing my gearbox now and looking at it (I have a 12 speed 885) I think if you remove the transmission oil filter to hydraulic pump pipe, the steering wheel and then the gearbox cover you don't need to take the pto off. Having said that, I would take the rear pto housing off in order to give everything a good clean.
Hi there, I've got lots of videos where I remove the lift components, check them out, clean them up, get them installed and adjusted. Check them out on my channel. Thanks for watching!
