For the people annoyed with the "Olé" phrase not being mexican: listen to the lyrics, it´s talking about losing a love in madrid, so it´s fitting with the theme.
Being a Mexican-American that plays classical music but that also enjoys Mariachi very much, it feels like botha sides of me have been united and it makes me so happy
Proffesional orquestra musician here. It seems to me that people tend to think mariachi is just a simple type of music anyone can play and that classical music is harder and that's completely wrong. There are lots of mariachi musicians in the world that excel in any type of classical music and yet they preffer to play in a mariachi. There are dozens of songs and melodies from the mariachi folcklore that are way more complex than many classical pieces. So yeah, there's not a better or harder one, is just a type of music and of course doesn't compare to "despacito" or any bullshit like that. Don't under estimate mariachi music, search for "mariachi Vargas" which is one of the best on the planet and has musicians with classical background. Also, México has a very rich culture of classical music. Search for "Revueltas".
dude yesss, i play classical guitar and have mastered some pretty difficult pieces, but holy moly my teacher is also a professional flamenco player (known in the flamenco world as Jeremías el Valiente) and i've been trying to learn some of those songs and it's so hard! (cause a lot of mariachi is inspired by flamneco and stuff)
THE GOOD CONTENT same reason I argue for bluegrass and slide blues. "Classical" musicians tend to turn their nose up but untill a person takes the time to experience them they will never realise the Challenge. Like the quartet said. The classical musicians rely on their sheet music where slide blues comes from the soul. And the blistering speed of bluegrass will leave some to the best pianist struggling to keep up.
Mariachi music is beautiful and sophisticated. It’s basically Mexican classical music. What’s amazing is that most mariachi musicians are self taught and that’s pretty incredible .
Before they played a single note as the Mariachis stood behind the Quartet, I began to tear up. It was a beautiful performance. A wonderful mixing of cultures. I loved this one, it hits home as I am of Mexican decent. I loved seeing my culture appreciated and that you picked a female Mariachi band was icing on the cake!
This was so beautiful! Mariachi is such a nostalgic factor for me that brings me great pride and I’m a total sucker for classical music, and to hear them combine was just gorgeous. If I ever get married, I’m about to ask for this version!
I love mariachi and I'm glad you gave the genre a chance to be seen in a light they don't get usually. These ladies are awesome, the fact that it's an all woman band, and their talent, and they were all so pretty! This was a great fusion...fun and beautiful!
This is so beautiful, I was so moved by the process of creating the music collaboratively and with such deep expression of emotion. To all the musicians, thank you for blessing me with your music.
This video made me cry, when I was little being raised in Mexico I would hate mariachi and all Mexican music. But now that I'm almost 30 living in the states it always makes me feel very sentimental and reminds me of my childhood listening to Mexican music. This combo was so perfect it should be a genre itself, thank you for these joyful tears! 😭
This is so beautiful. Their interaction, music bringing out joy in everyone, the two of my favorite genres combined! This video has filed a part of me with so much happiness! Thank you for making this!
This is amazing, my tears are running down😭 I’m a musician my self. Music brings people together, and does not discriminates, or knows any boundaries. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
im mexican and i started crying in this video. i feel like people only see mexicans as criminals and it makes me feel so happy to see a part of my culture finally appreciated. i hope you can do the same for other cultures because i want this feeling of happiness spread to other cultures. this can totally be a series.
Esmeralda Llerenas a majority of people dont see anyone that is Mexican a criminal.... where do you live? Here is America, Mexico is known for their beautiful culture, traditions and amazing food!
i guess it's because i live where gang violence is prevalent. even mexicans see mexicans as criminals. ive come across a few racist people talk about my family in a negative way.
Esmeralda Llerenas I'm from California myself and its beautiful... at least in the parts where I am. LA is a 50/50, you'll find the most beautiful of place as well as a really really stinky place but that's with everything really
This made me tear up too! When two "minority" cultures fuse, work, create and break down walls together, you can't help but to feel proud, touched and hopeful...Specially with it sonds this beautiful!!
Dude i almost did in the sense of being a fellow musician love how in way or another music can be fused to create something special. Like this for example
This is incredible! I am a classically trained pianist and grew up in a Mexican family with so much appreciation for mariachi. Watching the two brings tremendous amount of joy to my heart! Music is a universal language.
I think I've watched this 100 times now and I cry my eyes out everytime! I grew up surrounded by classical trained musicians/music and now I can't get enough watching this beautiful mariachi band! What a wonderful wonderful merging of music!! Thank you so much for this beautiful collaboration!
that's awesome! im Mexican American i love mariachi music i get goosebumps everytime i hear it lol. what's your ethnicity? if you don't mind me asking.
I love how even with how completely different they are and their music is they sound amazing together and they all laughed and had fun in the mix. It really shows that people are people and great things can happen when they work together.
This is beautiful. The joyous conversations both groups had were enlightening. I loved the collab. It was emotional, mellifluous, ahh I could listen to this all day.😭😍
Wow. This was beautiful. Could you imagine full-on concert with this mesh-band?! But I'm also sure Mariachi already has classical side to it. It just depends on which song is played at which occasion.
Pardon my French but holy fuck this was a beautiful video why this video isn’t #1 trending is sadistic. I love it when you bring two genres of music and create a symphony and I love it even more because the two cultures of music is so unique from on another and it’s just resplendent to hear a marietta of sounds overlaid together to creat musical bliss ❤️❤️ 10/10
Pretty cute, the best 10 minutes invested! It was quite interesting to see the mix of these two types of music, and I loved the attitude of the Cello boy.
It is impressive as far as the beautiful culture of the Mexican mariachi goes. I have always loved the joy that accompanies each of the songs and knowing that these great women have come so far is without a doubt something incredible.
First: This idea is beautiful. Bringing together different groups to create is a breath of fresh air. I want to see more, throughout different disciplines. Second: I would have liked to see more 'fusion'. They performed two separate songs with a cello bridge, and the only fusion that happened were some generic background accompaniment pads. It wasn't so much of what I felt was intended as it was, 'Let's take turns and help out in being flavor in the background without making an impression on the other.' Final: I feel that if you do this experiment with music again, either a) get two genre groups that know how to improvise, or b) give them much more time to work on the collaboration, or c) both a and b. Arranging and composition outside of your field of study takes tremendous effort, and the payoff is only going to be as great as the amount of time put in. Maybe film them meeting each other and their brainstorming, then let them get together 1-2 hours a day for a week, then film the final performance after a discussion of what they did and how. That would allow them rehearsal time to interweave well known melodies, find songs with similar chordal or form structure, similar bass lines and rhythms instead of taking turns.
Undomaranel Most people are not willing to devote so much time in a week for a RUclips video. The way it was now it was accesible for the musicians and just a fun afternoon.
It was impressive how they managed to combine two musical genres that at first glance look so different from each other and that the result of this collaboration was a song that highlighted the best of both.

I love how respectful both of the groups were to each other, no one thought they were better then the others, there needs to be more of that in the world ❤️
Mariachi music is so beautiful. Those ladies are awesome and so lovely! I thought it was a very interesting and pleasant combination. Laughed a lot at the grito part.

Music is the first step to people getting along and respecting each other. LOVE this video, LOVE these artists!
But the string quartet...is only three people...
I believe it's because the Mariachi group had the second violin or the viola.
Team Nein I was thinking the same thing!
G-Man Bond 007 but then they said in the beginning that they are a string quartet and showed the three of them before meeting the other group
my hypothesis is that the 4th was just busy or didn't want to come
They said that they were all /part/ of a group, so the fourth probably just couldn't attend.
