The life requirement is only 200 graze. Not that hard to meet in most patterns on Lunatic. There is already a TAS of LoLK Extra (www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm27943915 ) but no TAS of the main game yet. I wonder if it's even determined if Reisen or Sanae is better-- I'd suspect Reisen for the giant hitbox from bombing, but then again that hitbox might interfere with TAS phasing through bullets (which relies on being on opposite sides of the bullet in two consecutive frames)... I suggest you try watching non-TAS Lunatic scoreruns if you enjoy seeing absurdly high graze counts in the main game, though: score.royalflare.net/th15/level15.html#L3
For future people: Looks like there is the use of Hourglass for save-states so that Reimu can be in the randomly placed bullet spawns and at least some of this was done frame by frame for that TAS bullet trick that was mentioned. Doesn't look like there's any luck manipulation present though. Probably took the person 6 months? Thanks for sharing this video with us.
I'm pretty sure there is luck manipulation, actually. Boss movement in EoSD is random, and if the boss is in the middle it's better for bullet cancels (since the bullets take longer to leave the screen).
Tool-assisted scorerun. Or tool-assisted superplay, a more general term. And many of the places this TAS uses aren't safespots. There's a TAS trick where you can pass over a bullet if your hitbox is on one side one frame and on the other side the next frame.
@Vavada sorry for reviving 3-years old thread, but you're wrong on this one - EoSD was made by ZUN and pbg (+ beta-testers), and there is a chance it was pbg who made that counter. See credits ruclips.net/video/txh0_jdYzgw/видео.htmlm22s
Tool-assisted superplay. This run was created using savestates and slowdown to create movements that are humanly impossible in real time-- this allows for every frame (1/60 second) to be manually adjusted at the TAS-er's own pace, to optimize grazing etc. See tasvideos.org/ for more about TAS-ing in general (as well as TAS speedruns of a wide variety of console games), or en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/User:Arcorann/High_Score_Almanac for more Touhou TAS scoreruns.
You all thought this was a TAS but it’s actually just ZUN playing touhou casually

Now imagine TAS-ing Touhou 15, where you have to graze to get lives.
Hilarity ensues.

KarisaMirisame there is none, almost no cancel in this entire run is optimal
cactu I have no way to tell the difference, but I guess I'll believe you. Sure.
smurfton94 is that sarcasm lol
cactu A little bit, but you agreed with me and sound more sure so I'm actually going with that.
Who would've thought it's possible to stop the graze counter in stage 1
I wonder if one could dodge rain by TAS-ing the world
sorry
Probably not, our hitboxes are too big.

You can always write that one off to the particle-wave duality. Perhaps Renko taught Reimu that concept in one of her dreams.
Three minutes in and the graze counter is maxed... Guess the producers didn't see a TAS coming any time soon, lol.
...Producers?
Everything in this game was done by a single guy.

when it break your best normal score in stage 2 :/
It's unknown, but presumably Hourglass was used to have savestates and varying degrees of slowdown.
Congratulations, you just won the Touhou series.

TAS error in stage 3 bruh
It doesn't necessarily have to be a speedrun. TAS is used as more a a general term for all things.
I would want ex stage more than any other stages
Cirno may be “smart” but she can’t outsmart the TAS.
So much score that the game menu isn't made for it lmfao (25:00)
So much Graze wow.
Too much graze? In stage 3 in normal mode I got a graze level of 3000 and I was not TASing or nothing.
Is the retexture patch make EoSD more HD?
How can I get the retwxtjre patch used in this video?
What is TAS
Tool-assisted superplay. This run was created using savestates and slowdown to create movements that are humanly impossible in real time-- this allows for every frame (1/60 second) to be manually adjusted at the TAS-er's own pace, to optimize grazing etc.

atleast that dude could force tas to move in more curvy patterns with irregular speed
It would have taken him months. At that point all I would have cared about was doing the most amount of damage possible (which is what he did)
+Deego the Great
Don't you mean maximizing the graze and bullet cancels? I don't think this TAS ever finished a boss pattern as early as possible.

This is a TAS? I just thought it was otaku who spent 3 years of his life in ig time.
Well this game being played this well could only be done by someone who was put into solitary confinement for a illicit act. I guess.
