I hunted the same time as you guys, 2nd rifle in unit 78. Opening day we had sleet followed by snow; it was snowing & overcast that we couldn't identify if a bull was legal or not at about 200 yds. We were 10k feet up. It seems you guys had more snow than we did. Where you guys hunted is beautiful country. Did you hunt near 78?
It's good that you have a good sense of your limitations in the situation. Good call on your part to stay lower and waiting.
Being our first time in the mountains we were cautious…and I was a bit nervous as the snow came.
