A realy clear and simple how to video. Was looking to increase memory on my E5400 but wasnt sure how to install it. As an added plus, it showed me what do with the fan box, drive or whatever it is called. Now I have much better performing, much more quiet laptop.
A jeweler's screw driver set works fine. Quite easy to find. To make your screw drivers magnetic just line it up with a bar magnet. Then run the screw driver length across the length of the bar magnet a couple of times.
I just scored a used one of these laptops in an eBay auction for £19. Just needs a battery and hard drive, and I already have a spare SSD waiting to go in. 🙂

Thank you for this excellent no nonsense how-to video. I wonder...... could you have just put the SSD in the optical bay and left the HDD where it was then set the machine to boot from disc (now SSD)?
I know im way too lte to the prty but I love this video very clear and to the point. I upgraded my RAM and want to upgrade my hard drive to the crucial SSD you linked. Now my only question is how can i clone windows 7 OS? I don’t really care about my files but I need the OS because as you probably know Win7 is no longer supported. I have tried finding ways to create bootable USB but they all install with no drivers. The version of windows 7 pro that i have now has all updates including firewall, windows updates and drivers. Any advice at all would be appreciated. Please help, i really want to upgrade to SSD. Thank you!
Thanks for the information. Can I go ahead and just upgrade my HDD to the 2TB Samsung you recommended without having it at 120GB and then have the 2TB as a second storage? Another question, do you have any link to a replacement keyboard for this? Thank you again.
Amazon does not have the Vic Tsing caddy in stock and do not know when it will be. There are a slew of other brands. Which other caddy would you recommend for Latitude E5510?
Anthony Reyes You will either want to clone your old system onto it (watch my medium deflect video) or just pop it in and have your windows installation media ready for a clean system install
Thank you for sharing these information. I've Dell latitude e5410, and I will change processor to İ5 560m from İ3 350m. I hope my computer will be better. I will write here what is the difference about performance of computer.
StasiuX7 I'm pretty sure you can, I've just moved from i3-330m to i5-560m, 50% performance increase. I7-640M is too expensive as top model (80$ on eBay), and gives only marginal improvement over 560m I bought for 20$. See passmark CPU list for details.
This video is awesome - I never knew I could upgrade this laptop to 8GB ram or install a second hard drive. I have just installed windows 8.1 and an SSD - and even with 4gb ram it is more than capable of the tasks I need it for - surfing the net, word and netflix - Thanks so much - going to order 8gb ram and swap out the optical drive for a second hard drive - will adding a second hard drive slow the laptop down? Thanks - brill video!
@@GadgetClass tried 8GB this evening but amazingly I forgot a 32bit laptop maxes out at 4GB. Anyway I'm thrilled to have refurbished it with a fresh Windows install and SSD - thanks again!
Thanks for this very helpful and informative video. My Dell Latitude E5410 came standard with a 2Gb DDR3 Ram. What I want to know is, can i add onto that with a "Crucial 4GB 1600MHz DDR3 SO-DIMM Laptop Memory" (totaling 6GB of RAM), and secondly, does it have to be 1333MHz, or is 1600MHz fine ? Thank you once again
I too have tried the listed RAM in a machine previously upgraded to Windows 10. I'm getting consistent BSOD on startup. I've tried two different 8 gig sticks from NewEgg, neither worked, now I'm just going to go with whatever Crucial recommends. Thanks anyways for the otherwise informative video.
+GadgetClass The diagnostics pass until the memory begins getting tested, then the entire test suite disappears and I believe the machine tries to boot. Sorry, I'm not near it at the moment. I observed that behavior with both sticks.
If I try (Crucial MX500 250GB 3D NAND SATA 2.5 inch 7mm (with 9.5mm adapter) Internal SSD) SSD in my latitude e5410 laptop with 8 gb NANYA ram, it will work better or not?
Some questions: can the memory be 2+4 GBs? When taking off the bottom cover there are many tiny claws that can break down from the cover and fall onto the motherboard. What can I do about it? Is there a way to upgrade the GPU?
Yes but be sure that the dimms are both at the same frequency. I tested my other rams inside this E5510 and it worked perfectly. It was one 2GB and one 4GB.
The GPU is built into the processor. If you want a better GPU, the only options are to get a usb GPU or get a better laptop. You can get replacement covers off of ebay. Just be careful when taking the cover off and putting it back on.
hello, im planning to buy one from ebay which has HDD , and their description says its SDD is not applicable. Is that true? no reponse from the seller. I am wondering if they refurbished it to the way I can't get SSD ? or just poorly written description?
You need to buy a pcie to m-pcie adapter like "EXP GDC Beast" and "External Monitor" because it doesn't work on the laptop's monitor, you'll lose a lot of performance because of "CPU Bottleneck" like 40±20% and you're only using 4x1 m-pcie instead of pcie 16x slot, with my GT 1030 2g GDDR5, it's very unstable I get 20-30 fps on "gta V online" and "enlisted" Valorant/CS:GO are unplayable because of CPU Bottleneck

Opinions and suggestions are highly appreciated.
