These things are so ridiculously good. My dad just got them and holy crap they are so damn good, was on a flight today and they completely drowned out everything including engine and air noise in the aircraft. These things are totally worth $350
My MDR-1000x are now 2 years old and I use them almost daily. For anyone wondering about the longevity of the high end Sony headphones, they don't disappoint.

I guess comfort is a personal taste as I think my M3's blow the comfort of the Bose out of the water, but again, personal taste. Otherwise, agree on all points. Made the mistake of doing a call and yeah, never again, will stick with the phone or swapping to the Airpods I always have in my pocket.

I just bought this. They’re very good. Punchy bass. For portable, noise cancelling, this is very good. At home I already have the wired Audio Technica MT50 but that’s not sound cancelling, and too heavy to be portable. The wireless function, swiping feature, and especially the palm over right ear to allow ambient voice, are innovation bonuses in wireless headsets.
Just bought a pair, thanks to your review! It's great to see how fair you treated this review and I didn't get bored watching it. You and Marques got the video game on point, dude.

SO then, a different question: Have you been poking around with Ingress Prime? I remember you were a player of the OG Ingress and was curious to hear your thoughts on Prime so far. :)
@@TheMrMobile For an 'upgrade' the Prime UI is disappointing. It's a resource (and therefore battery) hog though, so that the UI is questionable doesn't really matter.
@@TheMrMobile Personally speaking, I'm enjoying the UI. For me it's the performance that's a bit of a struggle to work with. It's pretty laggy most of the time and it just doesn't have the polish that OG Ingress did. Here's hoping that Niantic continues to keep ironing out the kinks.
I absolutely love these headphones. I traded in my M2s for them and the weight and comfortably is a huge deal for me to stay mobile and wireless. USB-C too 💪
I would love these, but can't get to $350 from here. The USB Type-C Pixel Buds surprised me with how fun and useful they are, and while not wireless, I find myself reaching for them when at home and need to listen to something without the house intruding. Great review Michael!
I bought these due to the noise cancellation and I can confirm these are the best ANC headphones in this segment, call quality was a bit of an issue for me as mentioned in the video, but surprisingly none of the people whom I spoke with through these pair of headphones said anything about the call quality, everything was pretty clear to them, might be due to the fact I was sitting in a quiet area, but call quality has not been an issue with me. Would definitely recommend
Used my set of these this week for my flight from Edinburgh to JFK and the return journey. Still got 80% charge, and I hardly heard a thing, they were incredible! It’s amazing how loud a plane is when you have to take them off for your food etc.. really worth the high price even if you’re just doing 1 or 2 long flights.
We disagree on the phone calls but we used almost exactly the same line on USB type C! By and large, the same opinion. :) Nice to see a reviewer that really uses the products he / she reviews. On the ambient sound - a really neat feature is that the customizations (level of noise cancelling and focus on voice) are remembered even AFTER restarts. Underrated, but extremely valuable feature.
Your first mention of these in your 2018 awards video sent me on a review frenzy and 2 days later I had them in my hands. I regret nothing. These are simply the best headphones I've ever tried. While the bose qc35iis are minimally more comfortable, the sounf quality amd noise cancellation on the m3s is insane. Especially ith ldac connection
Thank you!!!!! You actually included the worst part of these headphones in this review instead of glossing over to the lack of multi-bluetooth paring. For me, it's the biggest problem with this set and a deal killer. It wouldn't be so bad if you could pop these back into pairing mode easily, but I'd rather spend another $50 on the Bowers and Wilkins PX for sound and build quality. But thank you for not hiding the lack of multi-bluetooth pairing.
I have the first generation of these, and they're great! Used them at work for anywhere from 8-12 hours a day, 5 days a week or about a year, and never had any complaints. Started teleworking about 6 months ago, so while I still listen to music all day, now it's on one of Sony's Bluetooth speakers. Just don't have any need for the noise canceling feature now, and even though I find they sound awesome, I prefer not to be isolated from things when I'm the only one at home. If I was still commuting to work though, I probably would have picked up this 3rd gen model though, as I've heard nothing but good things about them.
I find your videos are the perfect length Michael. While I'm not personally interested in these headphones, I still watched the video, because well it's you and you create fantastic content. Thanks!

Hi Mr.Mobile its great to hear your voice and your channel time to time. Kind of a fan of your work. Your speech delivering style is unique and your background music and your voice really sounds good everytime. Keep it going, will follow you as well as.
I just bought myself a pair, and testing out real quick before I go in and catch a movie at this movie theater, and I gotta say I'm really pleasently surprised at how much I'm loving these headphones. Definitely worth the money.
I bought the (much) cheaper and poetically named WH-CH700N (99 on AMZN) but the NC is almost unnoticeable. 😢 Voice Calls suffer from the same problem. The battery life is awesome and the sound is good so it's not a bad buy... just wished I had 250 more 😁 Great review Michael !👍
I've been using my 1000XM2 over the past year (and counting) and they have served me well. The 1000XM3 definitely looks to be a very worthy successor with more chops. Also, you forgot to mention one thing. Unlike prior generations, the 1000XM3 can be used just for NC without being connected. Prior generations couldn't do the same because it would shut off after 5 minutes if it does not detect a connected and paired device. The NC/AMBIENT button can also be remapped to act as a Google Assistant trigger on the Headphones Connect app like on the M2, but I wished they'd just given the M3 a dedicated button
I've been using the M2's for a year now and I love them my friends all get quite impressed by them the battery sound quality and ANC options are just amazing on this headset my only 2 complaints are like you the can only connect to one device thing and the battery indicator being low, medium and high !

While I balked at the price of these cans (and for good reason), I just couldn't ignore all the rave reviews they were getting, so I went ahead and bought a pair. And man am I glad that I did! These things are fantastic, and without question the best headphones I've ever owned. The noise-cancelling is insane, they're incredibly comfortable, and the battery life is the best I've ever seen. The little extras are great too, like the USB-C, the deep Google Assistant integration, and the long list of codecs it supports (LDAC!). I do wish they could pair to more than one device at once since I regularly use them with my PIxelbook and my Pixel 3, but that's mostly a nitpick.
Well bought them....cause of this and all other reviews I could find on RUclips. As awesome as advertised, but I am glad to say the mic isn't any issue for me at all. Working beautifully over calls. Sounds like you may need to get a replacement headset as that seems to solve the issue for other than have had the same complaints on call quality. Thanks for turning me into these bad boys 👍👍👍
I bought a pair about a month ago and am super glad that I did. Don't let the price deter u because the headphones are worth every penny. Before the xm3s i used airpods on the bus ride home from school everyday and outside noise leaked right through, even on almost full blast. With the xm3s i can have them at low volume and block out literally every noise. I can go several days without charging them (i used them for several hours each day) and once u use the touch controls u wont be able to go back. Very comfortable, u can easily go several hours with these on without any fatigue. Bose might be a little better in the comfort department but not so much as to sway any opinions (my friend owns the qc35ii and i tried them out). Glad i spent the $350 on these.
Shpawn I’m debating between the two! You know where I can test out the Sony’s? I’ve tested out the Bose and was really impressed but want to try out the Sony’s before deciding which one to buy.
Excellent review as always. Ditched my otherwise great QC-35 Mk1s for these for same reason as you, USB-C. And I concur with each of your criticisms, the lack of smart Bluetooth device switching, poor outgoing voice quality and 'clampier' feel around my melon! But the noise reduction is so awesome it's worth the niggles. Hope a firmware upgrade will fix the first two issues.
Truly and its a great headset! Manage to get below USD260 during 11.11 sales. NC is great during my flight, and after 3hr continues use the battery still 100% as i show my friend, no joke! Its comfort, audio can tune to your liking via the app. Recommend for Anyone looking for a great NC headphone!
Your review has convinced me to buy a pair and I’m listening to this video again using the headphones. Thanks MrMobile! These are magnificent headphones indeed. :)
I Am still using my sonySBH20 as my daily driver, sounds great, voice calls are clear and comfortable, and one thing i really love about them the best battery life in Bluetooth headphones..
I finally got round to trying these today and the noise cancelling blew me away. My ears saw the light, if you can bear the mixed metaphor. I had previously tried other headphones with some noise-cancelling capabilities, but they were only able to filter out the background drone. Sudden, harsh noises - not so much. But these WH-1000XM3… whoa. I guess I'll postpone a new iPad and get these first!
@2good2be4gott Surface is too new to have comparative reviews yet, wait a bit if you can. Sony M3 got 5 Stars ⭐ and an award from What-HiFi, which is always worth checking before buying headphones.
I only now noticed that you haven't reviewed the WH-1000XM4 yet, I just ordered mine and I was binging reviews for it cuz I just couldn't wait for it to arrive
Picked up the M2 version of these in the black Friday sales. Love them! The sound quality is great and there is much more bass than the MDR version. The adaptive noise cancelling is quite accurate as well when venturing around London. Only thing I wish this version had that the M3 has is the USB C charge connection.
Michael, I'm still rocking an older version of the 900X, but I can't convince myself to out over $300 bills for a pair of headphones, even with my weekly air travels. I am very intrigued by the Microsoft headphones so I'll wait for your review. Marquez seemed to like those a lot, as always thanks for the review.
Great review! I'll take comfort over touch controls especially over long distance traveling. so that's why I'm sticking with my gut with the Bose QC35 II still.
Sound and noise cancelling is better in the sony's. But comfort is key and after testing both the mx3 and qc35 the Bose aren't much more comfortable than the qc35 . Not much of a difference. Fortunately I picked the Sony xb950n1 for 99 USD instead of 249 USD. I'll probably keep it untill a better bass anc headphones will be released
I just received my pair a couple days ago. Haven't used them much as my Sennheiser PXC 550 are my current daily drivers. Though I have to say I really enjoy the Sony's in my limited use. Really good sound, as light as my PXC's. NC is even better than my PXC's (which was already good) and it comes with USB -C (Not the biggest need for me, but it is nice to carry around less cables seeing as my phone uses USB-C). Will start using them more often. Happy that they seem to have better build quality than the version 1 and 2's which had the headband cracking issue.
Mr. Mobile you need to review the surface headphones. I could never wear headphones like that because my head is so small and I don't feel any compression and they fall off my head very easily. Great review Michael.
Hello these headphone's are really really good in a lot of ways. I've had them for a few week's now and I can now give a honest review on them. I've have the Bowers and Wilken's Px's,Sennheiser px 550's and the parrot zik's and now these here. The build quality of them has gotten better from the last model mainly the fit. The noise cancelling is simply outstanding. The call quality isn't the best either. The sound signature on them is really good! My ear's did slightly sweat after a few hour's of wearing them though. These are The only headphone's I've ever owned that didn't cut out when I stepped into best buy! The touchpad you have to be precise with the gestures on it or you'll skip a song quite frequently. I also don't like the double tap to answer or pause you have to get that right to do either one of those. And other gripes are the long press of the power button on or off and that dang short ass charging cable they come with. It's like 2 or 3inches....
Great review, Michael! I love my 1000XM2, and I'd consider upgrading, but it's too bad that they still haven't fixed the Bluetooth issue. When I use them with my laptop in the evening, switch them off, switch back in the morning hoping to use them with my phone, I end up having to run back to my laptop to disable Bluetooth there, which is a huge pain. As such, I'll probably wait for the X4. What are the other headsets which allow connecting to multiple devices or switching between them more easily?
I found the H.ear ON2 to be more comfortable to wear it for long hours and it sounds almost similar. However, it doesn't have USB C and Pressure Control. And yes, it does have touch controls.
I just got a pair the other day, I love them. My only gripe is the left cup has no function other than nfc. Very tiny nitpick. I agree on the connecting to a single device. I bet the 1000xm4's will fix that.
Love my XM3's. I had the XM2's but found them a bit uncomfortable, but these are great for long listening sessions. ANC is next level and they sound great. Haven't tried the Bose or Surface but I feel I don't need to as these are so good!
Great review, agree on all points! These cans make me look forward to my next flight! My wish was for better call quality, I’m surprised they didn’t address the issue of the mics, since they do NC so we’ll, perhaps it was a tech cost issue to keep them at $350. For me, the comfort improvement over the M2s made me pull the trigger over the Bose. I can use $50 Anker earbuds for calls...
Hope to get these for Christmas, amazing review as always, I love your videos and they first got me into tech and now, a few years later I'm a total tech geek and in computer science at university 😉 anyways nice review
I've had these since last week and agree the bass is a little overdone, but they have a built in EQ. I was able to get them under control by lowering clearbass to -3 or -4 and boosting the high end a little.
I still use the Sennheiser Momentum wireless. And while I hate, that they are still micro usb, they last so long that I never actually worry about running out of charge and I don't travel enough long distance. The reason I prefer them is that they are controlled via buttons and can easily be connected with a wire, both are features I do not want to miss and so I will stick with them for a while.
Can you absolutely guarantee that its noise cancelling is better than any other bose headphones? I want to buy the ones which completely block the outside noise
anupam appar I have them and with no music at all you’re hearing about 5-10% of noise, with NO MUSIC, throw on a podcast music etc you’re isolated completely, absolutely amazing headphones

With All Respect, You're One of those guys that make Anything Look Good..😊
I bought the M2 at Target for $104 and they are fantastic. Gave my QC 35s to my wife and do not miss them.
I got the Bose qc35ii. Never been more happier with my pair. Loved the xm3s too but returned them to best buy.
everytime i see a mrmobile video on the home page it's always going to be the first video to play
Joden Paolo Peroy you know where I can test these out? I can’t decide between these and the Bose quiet comfort 35ii.
@@8kings23 You can usually test on Sony concept stores inside malls. That's where I tested and bought mine.
Replaced my Sennheiser PXC 550 with these and was amazed by the noise cancellation. The best in class.
Now you made me get up and go to the nearest Frys Electronics!!!
I bought them when they were released and I love them
Aiaiai is still my go to brand, the modular aspect is a great selling point, I love that I can just buy the one new piece when I want to upgrade
thank you for covering the wired performance of these cans...none of the other reviewers did
Just unboxed my surface headphones and opened RUclips to test it and there is your video about Sony 😀
How are they?
Pretty good. Having used Sony and Bose, I would rate surface to be somewhere between Bose n Sony.
@2good2be4gott Surface is too new to have comparative reviews yet, wait a bit if you can. Sony M3 got 5 Stars ⭐ and an award from What-HiFi, which is always worth checking before buying headphones.
Just got these, trust .....They deliver completely 👍🏻
I only now noticed that you haven't reviewed the WH-1000XM4 yet, I just ordered mine and I was binging reviews for it cuz I just couldn't wait for it to arrive
Picked up the M2 version of these in the black Friday sales. Love them! The sound quality is great and there is much more bass than the MDR version.
The adaptive noise cancelling is quite accurate as well when venturing around London.
Only thing I wish this version had that the M3 has is the USB C charge connection.
I have the MK2 and even they still hold up extremely well.
Thanks!
Based on your in-depth review I am purchasing these babies!
I still have the first generation and they are almost perfect. Best pair of headphones I've ever got
Couldn't agree more. Comfort is the paramount aspect of consideration when choosing a pair of nc headphones.
Great review Michael.
checking this Review with my 1000XM3, by far best NC on the market right now
Gonna start using these this week. I'm a big fan of the Voyager 8200 so I'm wondering if these will pull me away from them. Great review!
And which are better after one month?
Hey Mr.Mobile. Great job on this video.
I was wondering if you were going to make a review on the XR? Will you?
Before watching this review I was already convinced to get one. After watching this, I already ordered 3 of them
Loved these headphones since version 1. Mark Three is the best yet, Sony made a good one with these!
Bravo. Another outstanding review.
If I see a MrMobile vid, I immediately like!
I just got a pair the other day, I love them. My only gripe is the left cup has no function other than nfc. Very tiny nitpick. I agree on the connecting to a single device. I bet the 1000xm4's will fix that.
Got a pair of WH700’s a few days ago. Great pair of headphones for under €100.
Just got mine today ! .. there pretty bulky , coming from my VMODA , but they sound amazing and I love that they went with Type C ..
Get these RIGHT NOW! Amazing price to performance.
Hope to get these for Christmas, amazing review as always, I love your videos and they first got me into tech and now, a few years later I'm a total tech geek and in computer science at university 😉 anyways nice review
At 3:33, I think that clip comes from Into Darkness, not Beyond. Great review as always!
Thanks for the review Jeremy. Very insightful.
I intensively a/b tested the first generation against the Bose and those were already so much better. Can't wait to get my hands on the M3
Nice rev. How many microphones to the phone calls does they have ? What is the quality of sound of incoming/outcoming calls ?
I've had these since last week and agree the bass is a little overdone, but they have a built in EQ. I was able to get them under control by lowering clearbass to -3 or -4 and boosting the high end a little.
I still use the Sennheiser Momentum wireless. And while I hate, that they are still micro usb, they last so long that I never actually worry about running out of charge and I don't travel enough long distance. The reason I prefer them is that they are controlled via buttons and can easily be connected with a wire, both are features I do not want to miss and so I will stick with them for a while.
One of the few reviewers that I trust 100%
Can you absolutely guarantee that its noise cancelling is better than any other bose headphones? I want to buy the ones which completely block the outside noise
anupam appar I have them and with no music at all you’re hearing about 5-10% of noise, with NO MUSIC, throw on a podcast music etc you’re isolated completely, absolutely amazing headphones
