My grandson is obsessed with the solar system right now - these will make adorable planets for him to play with. Thanks!
Awesome idea xxx
What a cool idea!
Thank you for the clever idea!
I’ve been watching a fair few tutorials on crochet over the past couple of weeks and yours are but far the best! Clear, concise and very friendly! Thank you!!
Wow, thank you so much!
My daughter is pregnant with her first baby and my first grandbaby. We're all so excited. This looks like a nice little toy for when baby can grasp a toy.
Yeah, it does! And since we’re making them, we can make them washable and stuff them with whatever we feel comfortable with, eh😉
Indeed! I made several with the little jingle ball inside for my grandsons. Now that they're walking they like to play kick.😊
Great project during lockdown. Also gift for my kittens 😊
yea, for my puppy
OMG IM HERE FOR MY KITTEN TOO
I’m making this as an worry pet coz they r so cute!
sameeeee

Hi Nicholas! Thank you for watching 😊
I couldn’t find a video to make a ball that explained it like this I am very happy I just made my first project!! thank you so much:)
Wonderful! Thank you for watching!
I finally did it! Thank you so much for this tutorial! Plushie yarn is so hard to work with as a beginner, but this tutorial made it a lot easier❤❤
We're so happy to hear that! Thank you for watching 😊
I love this! I live in Springfield, Illinois, and the we have had rain, ice, and snow all in the same day today! CRAZY!
Hey there! I'm from Monmouth but moved to Massachusetts 30th yrs ago! Stay safe!
That's awesome! I will try!
Stay safe! Im in rockford!!
Thank you for your instructions. I enjoyed making it for my grandsons. I'm a beginner I was able to master the decrease stitch.
Hi Wendy, we're so happy to hear that! Thank you for watching 😊
Love it. Took a long time but DEFFINETLY worth it 😂
Hi Kaia! Thank you for watching 😊
I made a jellyfish with mine!!! I’m in loveeee
thanks for this fun safe ball for everyone and every dog or cat to enjoy :D I've never used any yarn bigger than a 4 weight. Now I can :D New subbie today.
Hi Sabrina! Welcome to the big, crafty community!
I used to make these for the kids to play indoor bowling lol. And now for the dogs haha and friends cats
Sooo many good uses for a soft ball!
Nice quick project. This would be good to make as a stress relief ball . Thank you for sharing it with us 💜🧶
It would! They're fun to squeeze :)
Just love your voice can cheer anyone up 😁also very cool ball everyone around me is getting one now 😂
Thank you for watching!
I agree, I love her voice. She sounds as if she's smiling when she's speaking. ☺️
@@JaydaInStitches I just found your channel I have not yet had a chance to check out your other videos. I've been wanting to make a large ball that I could use as a sofa pillow. Have you made anything like that?
Also, where can I find your Stitch markers?
The ones I use require three hands 😂
Great idea, I have 10 grandbabies and 6 are in one family so being bored is going to drive our daughter crazy and what a great way to harmlessly toss the ball around next 2 weeks off school won't be so bad. Have a fantastic evening and thank you 😊
Yes! Some indoor games are definitely in store for most of us :)
Thank you for your wonderful video! Will be making these!Cheers!
Enjoy! Thank you for watching Deborah!
I LOVE it. I need to make these for kids but also my dogs would love them! Great video...as usual...so easy to follow you and so mesmerizing to watch.
Thank you so much M'Lisse! 😊
Great dryer balls! Thanks Jayda!
You are so welcome!
Thank you so much for your great clear instructions. I especially liked knowing the number of stitches I should have at the end of each row. Well gone, Helena Marie
Hi Helena! Thank you for watching 😊
That would make a great stress ball. Somthing for me to squeeze or throw in the air. 💙
Absolutely!
Good to do to use up your scrap yarns !!!💖💖🧶🧶
Nothing goes to waste...and they're fun too!
Thanks again for all you do 💕🙏Awesomeness. Going to make some now!😁
Thank you so much for watching :D
Wish I had made some of these ahead of time. To cure the boredom of this quarantine! Will make some now.
We hope you enjoy them :)
Love it!! Great for the indoor tossing
Yes! Nothing gets broken ;)
Wow I did it it turn out lovely thank you for that project awesome
Thank you for watching Mary!
This couldn't come at a better time. 💖😊
Thank you for watching!
I have made these balls for my kittens but I used plastic grocery bags so they would make some noise for the kittens.
That is so smart!! I love it.
Try adding a bit of catnip as well
Very Creative, I also LOVE IT
Genius!! My cat had this favorite ball, the only toy he likes and it got stepped on. It made a noise and I was gonna crochet around it, but I think I’ll try your idea with the bag. Very smart! 🧶😽
I would be careful with the plastic. If they were to get into the plastic and rip it up into small pieces they could choke on it. Kitty safety lol
I love your tutorials ❤
Thank you for watching 😊
@@JaydaInStitches
Always 👍
Last night I was watching a September 2019 formerly streamed video. You stressed the importance of counting your stitches. Today, this great video ! While watching this I figured out what’s going on with my “Doll” from one of your older videos. Her head looked too big. (?) so I went back to her unfinished head and counted. Oops, her head was supposed to go to 16 or 18, not 24....32 before the decrease!! Guess I’ll make a ball now and a small doll later.....count Chris, count !
* giggle * You'll hear me say that a LOT! Counting stitches is usually the easiest way to make sure your pattern goes according to plan :)
Thats why I love it when the instructor continually reminds us of what our count should be...so impt and helpful for us
Use a stitch marker
Made this for my dog and he lvs it xx
Thank you for watching Nicola :)
I watched every stream u do xx
Super cool thanks Jayda
Can you also make these in Smaller weight yarn, Like acrylic yarn?
Yes! You want to use a smaller hook, but you can use this pattern for any sized yarn and matching hook. The ball will size up or down accordingly 😊
@@JaydaInStitches thanks so much!
I have a silly question. Can you increase this a few more rows to make it a bit bigger? Like can I go 2,1,1,1,2 and then 2,1,1,1,1,2 etc. then would I increase my single chain rows? Would decreasing just work the same ? Single 2 together, 1 single, single 2 together each round to close? Or am I best leaving this alone? Lol
Hi Maurie! You got it 😊 You might want to add a few more rows of the straight sc before you start decreasing just to even out the sizing, but yes, that's it!
@@JaydaInStitches thank you so much. I made my first and it turned out great. Wish I could show you a picture. The Bernat yarn I used made it look like a globe of the world. Lol
Not a silly question at all! I had the same question! Im glad someone asked and I could find the answer! I'm using this as a base to go off for making stuffed animal/plushie heads ! Im making a cute dino plushie for my nephew! IM gonna make one big ball for the head and then a half ball for the snout part 😁
Let's play!!!!!!!!! Thank you my dear teacher!!!!!!!
Hello jayda, I have to make a few for my cats and my neighbors too, they're so pretty 🌹🇬🇾
Thank you for watching Stephanie, have fun!
This is a good in door project
Lovely tutorial thank you very much
Loving this and making some!
Hi Linda! Have fun :)
Thank you for sharing this amazing little project cute fun , enjoy your precious weekend keep smiling. Kind regards swift hug from England hope you all keeping well. :- )
Thank you so much!
Wish I could have been here to participate in the live chat when it premiered! These look so squishy and cute! I think of babies when I see these. I feel like they would enjoy a big soft ball!
They're soft, squishy and won't hurt anyone's noggin!
I made one of these balls over the weekend for an Easter present for my expected grandson. My puppy loved it, too! (Mental note: do not leave kids’ toys where the pup can reach!) At least, I hadn’t washed it yet! 😂😂 I love it and plan on making more for the older grandkids for indoor play.
* giggle * yup! Puppy will think it's for him :)
I love them. Going to make some
Thanks
Thank you for watching Tricia!
Thank for teaching 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I made a few of these for my dogs they love them
Easy to catch and drop at your feet ;)
Gonna make one of these for my puppy. 😊
If you REALLY want your puppy to go gaga for it, use strips of your old t-shirts. It'll smell like you.
Well that's a great idea. Thank you. 😊
A perfect toy to go into the kids tote you made a while ago LoL I was just looking at the bag
Hi Brenda, agreed! It's a safe little ball to play with on the go too, so they can take it with them :)
I’m planning on making the entire solar system to hang up on my ceiling this pattern will come in handy
What a neat idea!
Hi @jaydainstitches !! If I wanted to make it 1 size bigger by adding 1 extra increase row, would the regular sc rows (4 of them) still be 4 rows or would I have to increase by 1 regular sc row as well?
Hi! It all depends on how it looks, you might need 1 extra row of regular, possibly 2, but you'll have a better idea when you get to that point...try stuffing it too (you can take the stuffing back out while you work decrease rows if you need to) to get an idea of how it will look when finished 😊
@@JaydaInStitches great!! Thank you!!
Very nice. Thank you
Oh how fun! Thanks again, Jayda!
You are so welcome!
Thank you for sharing, great tutorial 👍.
You’re welcome 😊 Thank you for watching!
I love these! So much fun!
I made a Dragon Ball for my brother❤ Thank you for this video!
Awesome! Thank you for watching 😊
Cool idea! 😊
Thank you for watching! 😊
I think I’m going to use this to make Christmas balls
Great idea Starla!
Thinking my Cat might play with one of these. Maybe Mom's Cat. :)
I don't have any bulky weight yarn, will this pattern work with regular size yarn?
Karen Twardowski You could hold 2 or 3 strands together to make a bulky yarn. Jayda has a video on that.
I don't have an 8.0mm hook, can I use a 6.0mm hook instead?
Hi! You might find that your stitches are on the tight side with the smaller hook, but yes, you can use a smaller hook. Try to keep your tension a little loose 😊
Love it
Thank you madam 👌
Thank you for watching 😊
Easter is coming up soon. These would be great to make and hide them around the house or outside. When your kid or kids find the color they chose then they get a prize for find it. How much funny would it be?
Fantastic idea!
Mine came out oval shaped rather than ball... which is great for the amigurumi head i'm making!
If I were to increase to the point of 2sc, then 1sc in the next 8, how many sc rows are necessary?
Hi Leslie, 2 plus 8 is 10, and on a base multiple of 8, you should be at 80 sts around.
Hi Jayda
Love these
Great video, great instruction! Thank you 💜
Thanks for watching Gail!
Hi jayda. I have attempted to make this ball 3 times and although I think I am doing everything right I am obviously not as when I get to round 5 I have 34 stitches. The start of my ball to the end of my ball does not look the same.
Hi Sandra, it sounds like you might have added a couple of extra stitches somewhere, but a different of 2 sts isn't too big a deal :) Once you being the decrease rows, you might want to work an extra decrease stitch in each of the first two decreasing rows just to get the stitch count back down again. Then, it's just a matter of stuffing it into a ball shape :)
Jayda InStitches Thankyou for getting back to me. I have now made 5 and although not perfect they still look great. Many thanks 😀
i'v found its easier to use a safety pin to mark my work! but if you feal more confertable with a clip then thats totally fine! : )
Hi! I have a question, why is this pattern have 8 SC in the first row compared to the other crochet balls? Is it because of the chenille yarn?
Hi Christelle, 8 sc as a base works nicely for the size of this ball pattern 😊
Great idea!!!!
What kind of yarn do you use? It looks so soft
Hi Lynda, this is blanket yarn by Bernat :)
@@JaydaInStitches thank you!!
Could you possibly help us with a bigger ball too?
Thank you for the suggestion! 😊
Thank you‼️‼️❣️❣️❣️❣️
Any time Connie! :)
if i were to use size 4 acrylic yarn, would the pattern change or stay the same?
Hi Kim, size 4 yarn is much smaller, so you could use 2 strands held together, this will be close to a bulky weight sized yarn :)
@@JaydaInStitches okay, thanks! :3
So do you have 8 total stitches for the first row or nine ??
Hi Elisa, 8 :)
could i use this to make a stuffed animal? like puting one ball on top of the other as the head and body?
I would say yes! You might want to try our Snowman tutorial here: ruclips.net/video/sl1G6Pi2cnk/видео.html
Can you make a frog like with this ball
Thank you for the suggestion😊
@@JaydaInStitches a round froggie if possible!!!
Hey could you make a video how to make a sinch cricle im new to crochet and i cant see what your doing that well! Please you dont have to do it if you dont want to im just asking because im a little bit confused at the start!
Hi! We have a mini tutorial on the cinch circle here: ruclips.net/video/P87GpDPExsU/видео.html
how do you di the magic circle?!!
Hi! We have a quick mini tutorial on that here: ruclips.net/video/P87GpDPExsU/видео.html
can we use regular yarn or does it have to be bulky?
The soft, bulky yarn helps make this ball extra squishy and soft - but you can use 3 strands of medium weight yarn held together to get a ball the same size :)
@@JaydaInStitches thank you!
perfect, thankyou!
Followed all instructions and it still looked good just not as long as this one for some reason not sure why
Hi! Tension, yarn weights and even individual hooks vary between us all which is why everything we make, even while following the same pattern as another, always come out looking unique. It's like a signature 😊
I am not good at crocheting at all but I’m trying to make this for my boyfriend…it’ll be janky but it’s the thought that counts😂
The secret to roundness is all in the stuffing 😉
Can I do without a stitch marker?? Because I don't have it, and also don't have a small clip.
Yes! If you need to mark the spot, you can also use a spare piece of yarn :)
@@JaydaInStitches ok thanks
Nice ♥️ 🥰🙏✋
Thanks 🤗
Perfect for a Christmas ornament! It can hold potpourri! To deter cats from eating the tree.
How can I make this the size of a basketball?
Hi! You'd have to keep increasing until your circle reached just under the circumference of a basketball, then work several rows straight until it was large enough, then decrease in reverse increase order 😊
@@JaydaInStitches I'll give it a try🤞🏾thank you.
Just a little reminder for myself: I just did row 4 which was 32 st
What brand of hook are you using? I haven’t seen it before!
It looks like a Tulip (gold) to me. I don't see them very often they're really expensive. I think they have pink Tulips as well. I don't know much about them though.
Hi Alina, that's a Knitpicks hook, size 8.00 mm. They're often found in independent yarn shops :)
Everytime i start it off it keeps forming into a bowl instead of a flat circle. Can u help me out?
Hi! In this case, a bowl is fine since we want to turn it into a ball anyway, but this is a common issue with circles. You can either use a larger hook (to ease your tension) or use lighter weight yarn :)
good
JAYDA I NEED YOUR HELP SO FOR THE BALLL I AM AT THE PART WHERE YOU START TO DECREASE DO I DEREASE FROM THE OUTSIDE TO THE LEFT OR TO THE RIGHT PLEASE HELP!!!!
Hi! We are always going in the same direction, so if you were crocheting to the left, continue to the left :)
Quick question, why is your stuffing always green?
Hi Jessie! I've been busy using up the stuffing in a pillow I bought ages ago and never used. It's a Laura Ashley pillow and apparently , they used green stuffing!
4:38 round 1
how do u get in to the etsy written pattern
Hi Coco, the link to our Etsy shop is in the description box of our videos :)
These may be good to take to nursing homes! They can be washed. I'm going to make one for my husband who has Parkinsons.
Great idea! Thank you for watching 😊

When I decrease, the bottom isn’t round, instead, it’s flat. I did everything in the video... I’m confused
Hi! Try stuffing it, you might just need to "stuff" it into shape :)
