750 is the European mark for 18k.. much like sterling and the 925 hallmark, 750 represents that the piece is 750 parts per 1000 (75%) solid gold. similarly, 14k can be marked 585 indicating 58.5% solid gold content.
You cannot get the rhinestones wet. It will turn them black (dead stone). Sometimes when you repair a stone, if the gold backing is gone, you will get a discolored stone, since they will not have the reflections. Sometimes the original glue will also yellow with time.
Dead stones are caused by water getting under the stone, damage to the stone’s foil backing and damage to the metal the stone is set in-flaking of finish, oxidation or verdigris. Another possibility is that some of the stones have been replaced and the replacement stones are not the exact same color as the original stones.
ALL Trifari Jewelry is signed! It was part of their advertising. Alfred Phillippe was one of their most famous designers and you can look up the patent numbers to verify his designs.
Some people avoid eBay and find Mercari a more user friendly platform. Mercari is also much smaller than eBay, so categories are less saturated and there is less downward pressure on prices.
This is an important point. It can be hard to tell if spots on metal are tarnish, damage, plate wear or schmutz. Depending on the item and the discoloration, I try rubbing, examining with a loupe, spritzing on some Goo Gone, waiting a minute, then wiping with a cotton pad, gently washing, and/or wiping with a silver polishing cloth.
19:19 Prong-set stones are attached by tiny metal claws. Glue is not generally used with prong-set stones. The stones in this piece are not prong set. They are held in the piece by glue, which you can see in some spots on the back. There are some little pointy elements on the front of this brooch that resemble prongs, but these are just decorative and do not hold the stones in place.
Thank you for another excellent and informative video! I was excited to learn about mechanical brooches! In the past, I have come across brooches with parts, such as flower petals, that are sort of loose and floppy and moveable. Now I know to double check these items.
10:40 I did some quick research and it looks like Kendra Scott jewelry is mostly “attainable,” or reasonably priced costume using semi-precious stones. However, the brand does some limited releases of fine and very high-end-$1000s-pieces.
I learned something the very very hard way. Had a Set of Vintage Lion Knocker Clip ons that I sold Very very cheap. Buy reached out to me after she received and let me know they where Coco Chanel un marked. I sold for $30 and worth about $400-$500 😢😢😢😢😢

I just got a lovely (and possibly rare, because I didn't find a lot of them) 1960s Crown Trifari necklace at a yard sale this morning. Gold tone and Finnish crystal. Hoping to make a profit! I do wonder if I should hold on to it and see if I can find a matching bracelet, but the only one I've seen is $70.
If its one of those rare sets of Trifari, I would hold on to it....they just keep going up in prices with time....its smart way of investing....and if you can collect the sets it doubles or triples in value.
I don’t think it’s a Julianna. Think that’s why they didn’t put it in title. I would have to see more of the back. Also, they should have put in description how they determined that. Example, Book Piece

On the Trifari piece, that isn't plate wear because it's marked sterling, meaning it's solid, so it isn't plated. I believe that is tarnish.

Trifari ALWAYS signed or marked their jewelry. If there is no signature it’s not Trifari.
Kendra Scott has brick and mortar stores for her designed jewelry
Someone told me that when a stone darkens it’s because moisture got behind it?? 🤷🏻♀️💞
Amazing pieces
2:41 Excellent job on one that’s hard to pronounce!

Very interesting video. Thanks!
There is a family of Jensen that Georg was the most sought after.
Boucher = Bo-shay (I think that's this one)
Like in that movie Waterboy (main character was, I believe, named Bobby Boucher).

Anything over 20 years is considered vintage.
If you don't know what the gold mark represents why are you doing this video?
It’s a research video. Everyone is welcome to help out in the chat.
