Alot of modern drum machines and synths have lo fi filters and saturation effects to emulate tape sounds+vynal Lo-Fi's a sound people who didnt grow up with it want, and people who did its nostalgic. I liked cassettes & made tons of mix tapes. I however jumped over to Sony MiniDisc in 1993 & never looked back. They were more expensive, but I loved music so much I paid up for a stereo(recordable deck) & the portable player unit. Only because they were digital & recordable just like tapes, but functioned like CD's after recording. Then could be recorded over 1 million times before losing degradation. So they claimed. I still have my tapes & MD's to this day! This was way before recordable CD drives. Just my experience, but I get it.

The mini disc was a thing that should have been respected but yeah the price was high i have two friends who still like theirs
