As you said, Lucknow Junction is actually a Terminus with terminating tracks one one side and tracks to three routes/directions on the other side. It should have been called Lucknow Terminus. A lot of people especially from other cities who visit Lucknow get confused between LKO and LJN and at times even miss their trains because of being on correct platform but wrong station. Railways should merge both these stations to effectively manage use the 9 + 6 i.e. 15 platforms. Then only it would be a junction in real sense. As an examplem Railways did it in Sitapur by merging Sitapur Cantt + Sitapur = Sitapur Junction.
