I saw Scotto, Caballe, and Freni in this role at the Met. They were all fantastic, if a bit overwrought. I like Tebaldi’s monologue; she is more inward, letting the words speak for themselves, rather than spitting bullets. They were all great, so no use in wondering who’s better.
Scotto Adriana is rubbish, like everything Scotto did in dramatic roles. Scotto, beyond having an ugly and shrill voice, Scotto does not have the color for the dramatic repertoire, Scotto is a lyric-coloratura soprano with a flawed voice.
Commossa ,ferita ,nobile ,fiera, vendicativa , tutto queste sensazioni nella voce della Tebaldi .
I love this interpretation of the monologue. All the colours of the text and shadings. A more introvert performance than her other ones.
Superba...aulica.... meravigliosa
Impeccable interprétation !!!
Voix splendide, inégalable !!
Immense Renata Tebaldi, la plus grande soprano lyrico-spinto du siècle.
She sounds quite subdued compared to other of her declamations recorded. What I hear mostly is fear over her vocal condition.
This scene was written for _the other_ Renata !
Absolutely not
@@Thearchivebeyondimagination :: Ok ! Find someone who can recite this scene better than Scotto. It sure ain't Tebaldi.
@@cliffgaither now, that's better.
