What Entering a Dream Through WILD Feels Like (For Me)

  • Today I want to talk about how it feels (for me) to enter a dream using WILD. Typically there are two different ways the WILD process goes for me. Note that in the video I'm referring to WILD performed without entering sleep paralysis. When entering sleep paralysis during WILD, the experience is quite different and there's an intense stage during which you can experience all manner of hallucinations and sensations. This stage is skipped when sleep paralysis is also skipped.

I just had a lucid dream!! I tried randomly putting my finger through my have and it worked!!! I ate a cinnamon bun and it tasted just like the real thing!!! I imagined my dream place with mountains, the cool air, the sunset. Then I was there. I knew I want going to fly if I tried, so I jumped off a ledge and spawned a wingsuit on me. I was gliding through the cool air, and it felt like I was really there. Then my brother woke me up. You guys have to try this. Keep practicing, you will succeed.

So, I accidentally did the WILD method last night (I kind of just woke up early in the morning). When I went back to bed, I felt like I was awake and I was questioning if I was lucid dreaming or not. After sitting there for about 15 seconds or so, dreams starting to show up as if they were windows opening on a computer. They eventually all formed together into one. Remember how I mentioned that I was questioning if I was lucid dreaming? Welp, I was. Boy was it a first experience.

It's very interesting to hear others talk about how this feels. Interestingly it's completely different for me. I have tried WILD for a very long time and succeeded at the end.
First was the usual sleep paralisys. Body stopped to react to signals like moving anything. Then after a while my heart rate increased and I stopped to feel anything. Basically no gravity anymore and no bedsheets. Just like in outer space. That lasted for some seconds until I feelt a quite strong acceleration that pushed me forward trough what I'd describe as a "bright tunnel". Then I just stood on the streets somewhere in a desert like environment. At this point gravity was back to normal. I instanly knew "ok well that's it I did it". Very vivid, as realistic as it could possibly be and lasted for 20-30 minutes.
I always read that people hear voices, start to halucinate or feel vibrations (that one confuses me). I never ever experienced something like this. Also I never heard about this zero gravity feeling. Is it just me? I'm curious about that one.

Yeah. I get a falling sensation, I'm tumbling through space. I can control the direction of the tumble - like skydiving. I get a whooshing sound in my ears. I land softly of the ground and the dream renders around me. It's a really good feeling when you get used to it. Enjoy.

OMG I have discovered this on my own! I usually see blobs when my eyes are closed and the blobs start to form images .. then it transforms into almost like a movie. Usually at that point I either become too aware of starting to dream and end up pulling out .. or I just drop down the sleep well. I have considered the possibility of trying to maintain awareness longer and seeing if I can remain lucid while my dream develops. This tells me you're legit! I have been interested in lucid dreaming for many years.

I like the kind of videos where you talk about your personal experiences with it instead of just making a universal tutorial for WILD. I think more people should not only talk about the steps for everyone, but also their personal experiences for how it works for them!
I, for example, have never really succeeded with the official WILD method. What often happens for me instead is my mind eventually falls asleep, but happens to wake up when the actual sleep paralysis process is happening. I can feel the normal vibrations from it, but I can't move. If I visualize myself moving instead of actually trying to move, that works! If I visualize something, it suddenly vividly comes up. If I think about a song, I'll actually start hearing it. If I don't visualize anything, I tend to focus on the vibrations because I love the sensations! Eventually the dream actually starts showing up but I still feel myself laying on the side because that tends to be the sleeping position. The imagery keeps changing, but it actually looks realistic! At first, the imagery is as if I'm a drone camera hovering over a setting. Eventually an actual setting comes up at ground/height level. As soon as I move, I snap from that laying position to actually standing there. Kind of an awkward transition, but I'll take it if I'm in a lucid dream now! It tends to start in my room every time pretty much! I am now immersed in a dream at this point! Sometimes if I'm really tired, this sleep paralysis process can happen within a minute! This is basically a cheated version of WILD in my opinion. I had sleep paralysis twice today! Sometimes this happens without even trying!

I'm curious to explore the connection between Narcolepsy and WILD. A symptom of Narcolepsy is falling asleep within a couple minutes and going straight into REM sleep.
WILD had always been part of my life.
I explored this through the perspective of the Shaman journey, through lucid dreaming, and through the lens of narcolepsy which I discovered I had last year.
I have a strong feeling these things share an unexplored connection.

    • @Tipharot

If you naturally let is pass (try not to actively resist it) then you’ll be super close to your lucid dream! Note that I’m no expert thought so take what I say with a grain of salt- try researching a little more if you’d like. I know it’s been a while, but if you’re still interested, don’t give up! I've tried WILD a few times, and have not yet gone past the paralysis.
One time i heard a demonic laughter and instantly woke myself up. Yesterday i tried again, and i had the most uncomfortable feeling where i was actually dreaming but i thought i was awake and trying to sleep. It just went on and on, and i looked at my phone but noticed strange things like that i was low power even though i remember it being fully charged, but i still didn't think i was dreaming yet. It was extremelt hard to wake myself up when i finally noticed. But Several times during the 'dream' i felt some kind of extreme relaxed almost orgamsic feeling in my body. It was very weird.
It was not terrifying, but i was scared to go back to sleep for atleast 20 minutes, as i had been so confused about if i was dreaming or not when i woke. What i should have done was to do reality checks, as i believe i would then have been capable of transitioning into a lucid dream

What’s worked for me a few times is using my imagination to “feel” around the darkness, and sometimes, I will begin touching the surroundings with my dream hands. Like you said, often rough surfaces: grass, gravel, asphalt. But sometime the sensation will be objects: walls, tables, chairs. I’m not imagining anymore. I just feel these objects as if they were real. Then the blackness pulls away and I’m in an environment that might not connect to what I was touching previously.

I almost slide a WILD a few days ago :| I started seeing images after sleeping for something like 5-6 hours and they started becoming super realistic and it felt like I was actually in the images. But after one image that felt extremely real, I had one or two more but I think I accidentally fell asleep :/ Also after I slept I experienced SP for the first time, it was cool :)

I have to use this method as I have PTSD and sometimes it can take ages to fall asleep. My difficulty drove me to alcohol, sleeping pills. Gradually I am doing better. I love lucid dreaming as an athlete aiming to get lean I use it to find foods that I can use to meet my goals and even the best solutions to problems.

The dream was, I was in Batman the animated series on a roof top. Everything was red and blank below, everything was drawn. I ran and jump on another roof top and woke up. But I woke in sleep paralysis still.

I've only lucid dreamed maybe around five times (and they don't last long), and the two things that happen to me is either A, I start in the dark and I tell myself "it's dark because I'm and my room and the lights are off" and I get up and turn the light on, or B, I just start out laying in my bed. But anything before that is kind of a blur.

I was kinda halfway listening to this video while at work yesterday b/c it was on my list of videos that I listen to while working... and then last night I had somewhat of a WILD lucid dream! I was figure skating and became aware I was dreaming/realized I didn't have to be such a shitty skater because I could take control of the dream and do whatever I wanted. But I started feeling too excited & started waking. I ended up in that dark dream void and kept telling myself to stay asleep. I could feel that my body was paralyzed & I kept trying to put myself back into the dream. The paralysis lasted for a few minutes and the dream kept fading in and out and eventually I lost it and woke up.

Sorry I just vomited my thoughts everywhere, it’s a big comment xd
It takes a lot of practice and mental conditioning. Meditation helps a lot, without it I personally probably wouldn’t have ever experienced WILD. Or maybe I still would’ve, but it’d take a long time. Try meditating every night before bed (people say differently about how long to meditate, Mat says 20-30+ minutes) and then do WILD. It probably won’t work the first few times, just keep practicing and you’ll get it. Most people say how they just got it one night, but for me it happened in stages. First seeing these images in my mind’s eye, and then nothing. A different night I’d get a little further like actually seeing the images in front of me, and then nothing. And another night I’d nearly make it into the dream, and then I’m at where I am now. Just working on pulling myself into the dream, though it’s taking me a bit to understand haha. Just keep going, and you’ll get it soon 👍👍

You will not always be 100% lucid, not until you’ve been LDing for years and years (unless you’re super lucky). Lucidity fluctuates in dreams, just like your awareness does in physical reality. And you will remember the lucid dream if you keep up with dream journaling.

I only can get close to get lucid while Day (at night I only remember my dreams) and always "wake up " in a position I fell asleep because of my friend coming back home ( or he comes after I wake up). Last time I said to him that I have A little paralyzed eyes and I think it might be a drem so I'll make a TR. He got angry, said that it's not a dream for sure and not to do it but I didn't wanted to listen - so he grabbed my hand away from me. I shaked it back ( I was a little angry but I realised that it for sure us a dream and all I need to do now is get a look at my hand). I felt that it's just in ront if my head but couldn't see it. I said that I can't see my hand and then he started to laught so I repeated. After I panickly told him that my hand is gone and I don't have a hand he started laughing more more creepy. I completely got freaked out, lost any lucidity and clear mind, I couldn't take a breath, fell down from my bed and woke up (this time for real). Fact is that I were terrified in there but I felt like I decided by my own to wake up and after that felt any bad fillings about it but problem is in that since then ( 3 days ago) I can't make my dream last even till this false wake up. Do you have any ideas of how to solve it or why's that so?😕

Just keep writing dreams down. If you don’t remember write “I don’t remember any dreams” or something. Eventually you will start remembering dreams, but you still have to try to remember them yourself. It’s not like they’ll just pop righin into your head when you awaken. Most people say to write down your dreams as soon as you wake up, but I usually can’t start to remember any dreams until like 5-20 minutes after I wake up idk why xd

25 Games I think the reason why I start to astral project is bcuz I’ve learned how to do it so I accidentally apply the techniques to other things. If ur trying 2 astral project tho then don’t give up! It takes years for some ppl to get it. The trick is to really clear your mind and only think abt astral projecting. Clearing your mind completely could take a couple tries and a couple minutes, but once u get that then all u needa do is concentrate. Don’t give up!

This afternoon I probably had a lucid dream event. It was a wierd dream but then suddenly I counted my fingers and viola I had 5 fingers and I told myself 'I am dreaming'. Then I remember following someone and suddenly I feel vibrations in my body . I remember I felt like my hand was up in the air and was calling someone from behind but I literally felt my hand up in reality as if it happened automatically. But it was very bright and the moment I realised I was dreaming and I am conscious about it my body was vibrating I felt floating , relaxed. But couldn't last for long and got up. As I opened my eyes I felt tired and took a minute to understand what happened.
And guys recently from past few months my dreams are directed more towards having sexual pleasure with someone I don't know or I can't remember. I literally felt something down there.
    What is happening?

Do you have any tips on how i can keep the pre frontal cortex awake while falling asleep? I have tried counting breathe and focusing on a guided meditation while falling asleep, but i either just fall asleep or i am not able to fall asleep. My father first try with WILD today ended with me not being able to fall asleep. But when i opened my eyes and moved my arms i noticed that my arms were really heavy. It was really weird. They are not usually that heavy. Does that mean anything? Was i close to achieving something maybe?

  • @emedentes

Hi Matt - I am wondering, if one can do the WILD technique successfully - why bother with any of the other DILD techniques? It seems like if you could master this technique then you could lucid dream more-or-less on demand since you can use your conscious volition rather than "hoping" that you realise lucidity from a non-lucid state within the dream. Do you think it is possible to lucid dream every night using WILD, if the technique is perfected? Or are there other factors which will cause WILD to fail on some proportion of attempts, regardless of the amount of practice you put in? I have had sporadic success with DILD but seem to have been putting in years of considerable effort for very little result, so I have recently been working on practicing the WILD technique, which has so far worked for me a handful of times but is still hit or miss. Many thanks for all your work and videos.

    • @Tipharot

Other people may feel differently, but for me personally it's just a matter of what I want to do, and am able to do, in a given situation. I tend to use a wide variety of techniques for this reason.
Sometimes I wake up and it's clear that I'm relaxed enough to rapidly enter a dream with WILD, or DEILD, so I will. Other times though I can tell I'm not relaxed enough, and so if I'm eager to get back to sleep, I'll do a simple mantra or intention technique/something simple like that.
Sometimes I'm taking a break from waking myself up mid sleep entirely, so I'll just rely on meditation, reality checks, hypnosis tracks, and visualisation before bed.

I keep trying different ways to get lucid dreams but I have a hard time falling asleep and the intention one but that doesn’t work, and I keep seeing people saying these are amazing and works so well but I just can’t do it. Is there a way to do it without waking up besides the intention one?

Hey i was trying to do WILD and I need your Advise. I have some Questions.. When i‘m trying to enter due Sleep Paralysis can‘t i move my finger a little little bit at all? Just to check if it already happened and i entered SP? And can i open my eyes? And then there’s the problem with swallowing.. I’m sleeping on my side, but it doesn’t help much, i feel like i have to or its gonna build up more and more..
The second question was, when i was performing Wild it was like, i could feel how my body was vibrating and i could hear a sound of like „shhhh“ getting louder and the vibrations getting more and more intense. I was nearly shaking.. but it was like that i couldnt get sucked into a dream bc i was not creative enough to create a dreamworld. Should this happen by itself or do I need to create one.. Bc a little bit before i got this feeling with getting sucked into something, i was like in a scene, but i always like went back to REAL LIFE.. But this scene was with an old teacher and i wouldn‘t say i created this on purpose.. Please Help

Is it okay to be thinking about things during this process? Because when I’m in sleep paralysis my brain just keeps thinking about things and I can’t stop it

Yes that’s normal. When you fall asleep your mind will shifting between thoughts and images. Don’t focus on them just let them pass on by and give in to the feeling.
