The pirate ship ride is the most popular ride in old Orchard Beach. It has been there since I was just a little boy. I remember that thing when I was seven that is my first memory of it at least. I grew up in Saco the adjoining town I had many great times in old Orchard Beach. When I grew up from a little boy I started going there as a teenager again. I would go there every night after work.

I can’t believe I never visited OOB when I lived in Boston, given that Maine was the place we went to in Summer to escape the heat. We always went further up to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park…or Camden where the Shakespeare Festival was. But, OOB is more my style with all those classic Fair rides. Especially the Matterhorn. Rode that forever as a kid at the County Fair. They used to blast Slow Ride by Foghat when we were on it. Will never forget it. Thanks D for sharing as always. I’m ready to hang out and drink plenty of beers there with ya!
