I just followed this method to get the throttle actuator working in my Mercedes AMG, essentially the same thing as this except larger carbon resistance strips. Saved me about $400 in parts, thank you.
those springy lids were loosely connected to the track, so the resistance jumps up and down as it got connected and disconnected. sticking them back up is the main method to be done
