Looks like you are ready for some crabs....good luck
Thanks. I might give it a go next week. We still have to plan a snakehead trip this year. I got on some last week. A friend of mine started catching them down your way.
TomyTek Outdoors sweet...I have been wanting to get out but between weather, work, and home projects there’s been no good time. I might try next week if the weather cooperates
Thank you for the video! Plan on using your setup as a model for how to rig my yak. have a 2020 outback but have been considering upgrading to the 360 12 or 14. Any thoughts or recommendations?
The 360 is awesome if you have a need for maneuverability. If you mainly fish open water and don't have a need to maneuver quickly, it might not be for you. It helps me a lot when I bass/snakehead fish in tight cover. It is awesome for crabbing, since I can quickly back away from my trotline if I get pulled towards it. I still have my 2019 Outback and it's a great kayak. The big difference you will notice is the weight of the PA. The Outback is much easier to manage when it comes to lifting and transport. The Outback is also much faster than the PA. The PA 360 was totally worth it for the way I fish and crab.
Hi Tommy, just picked up a new PA 14 last week, looking to kayak crab on the Chesapeake Bay.. What size PVC fits in to the rod holders? Thanks, and great video.
Thank you. Congrats on your new ride. You're gonna love the PA. The PVC for my prop stick is 1 1/4 inch. It's loose fitting, but I use the back bungee to help hold it down to keep it secure. I've seen someone use 1 1/2 inch PVC, but you have to heat it up and mold it into the rod holder. This will give it a tight fit. I'm working on a video showing how to make a prop stick. If you have any other questions or would like me to show something specific, let me know and I will include it in the video.
It’s getting close
This cold snap today doesn't help, but it looks like it's going to finally warm up by the end of next week. I might give it a shot with some traps.
What’s the best decals to use for the registration stickers? I just registered my pa14 I’m not sure what to buy.
To be honest, I just get whatever I can find. They will peel off and you will have to replace them at some point. I used something similar to these amzn.to/31lTidR
@@TomyTekOutdoors okay thank you, I’ll see what Lowe’s / Home Depot has
Thank for the tips bro I just got a kayak and I’m getting ready to use it
Awesome! Congrats! No prob. I look forward to seeing your first trip.
Looks great. I am using your videos to help convince my wife that I need a new kayak.
Thanks. It works really well. Especially with the 360 drive. A pedal drive is almost essential if you're planning to run a trotline from a kayak. I've seen guys run them with a paddle kayak, but they are not running 600 feet of line like I do. I might even try running 1200 feet this year when the crabs are running good. I've seen some great deals on older Hobies. One of them has your name on it 😁
This setup looks sick 🔥 great video bro and definitely enjoyed watching!
Thanks. I can't wait to go on my first crabbing this year.
When will you start to crab this season?
I'm just waiting for some stable warm weather. I might try running some traps next weekend, but we'll have to see how the weather pans out. It might too early to run a line. It's a pretty cold spring.
Looks like crabbing on kayak is handful... 😂
It's definitely a challenge in the beginning, but once you've worked out the kinks, it's a lot of fun and very rewarding.
too unorganized!
Do even you run a trotline from a kayak? How would make it better? You have limited space on the kayak and have to make do with the space you have. Once the line is deployed the deck to pretty much clear.
