I discovered your channel less than an hour ago, and this is the third video I've watched. I enjoy the little bit of history thrown in on your drive to the event pitch!
This was such an enjoyable video!!! Thank you so much for sharing this weekend with us!!! I absolutely LOVE seeing where creators sell their products. Showing us your country was just AWESOME!!! Battle Abbey is just stunning!! I love seeing historical buildings, they're just mesmerizing!
Thank you Cindy and you are welcome! I expect we shall do some more videos at fairs in the future as this one was a lot of fun to do! Battle Abbey is gorgeous, we are lucky to have so much history around us! Today we are off to the woods to do a Q&A - we thought it might be nice to do a regular Q&A but in a prettier location than our house! So you will hopefully see some more of our countryside soon!
Thank you for sharing such a BEAUTIFUL and educational video! I appreciate it very much! How I wish I can be there! England is SO PRETTY! I love your eye shadow, at 9.21 till 9.43, it matches your complexion and the colour of your hair as well❤❤😍😍 Have a good rest! Once again, thank you🙏🙏🙏❤❤
Thank you so much May. Yes, we have some very beautiful locations around here (we also have some not so nice, often due to the way some people treat the planet unfortunately, which is sad). Thank you for your kind comments on my makeup too! I was very tired when I filmed that bit, so glad it doesn't show too much! :-)
It was a lovely video. Enjoyed the travel to the fair ground. If you go out to source tools or herbs or anything, then do consider shooting a video about your travel through English countryside.
Hello and thank you. We are actually hoping to film a video in the countryside today. It will just be a Q&A video, but we thought it would be nice to do it in a pretty location!
I always enjoy watching your videos Anne, thank you for the work that you put into them. You asked about questions. Could you share a bit more about how you did the PET testing for your sugar scrubs and what was involved? I have been putting off getting my own whipped soap base assessed as I'm so nervous about the process. Thanks for any advice you can give. xx
Sleep! I know this sounds so simple (and perhaps a little silly) but never underestimate how important a good nights sleep the night before the event is. I can't tell you how much better the day seems to go when I have had a good sleep! Also, make sure that everything is organised well in advance. We have a show this coming Friday - Sunday and we will be starting to gather everything together for it on Monday/Tuesday just so we are not rushing to get things done at the end of the week. Make sure you know the route to the event (check Google maps if it is not somewhere you are familiar with) and work out the route, how long it will take to get there and then allow a little extra time just in case of any unexpected hold ups. Also, have the organisers phone number on hand, just in case something does happen en route and you are running late. Be sure to remember things like getting change in case any customers pay with large notes - it is easy to forget something like going to the bank to get change and if you don't remember until the night before the event then it is too late to do anything about it! We do have a video with some more hints & tips for craft fairs which covers a few other things that I may have forgotten to mention here, if you want to check it out, it is here: ruclips.net/video/9yI_lQspw7U/видео.html
This might be a daft question, but when making soap for sale, what is the margin of error when weighing ingredients? I thought about selling the ones I make, but I wasn't sure how precise you had to be - other than just a general concept of being precise, that is.
Hello Andy, I am honestly not certain on what the exact margin of error is. I know that there is one, but have never been able to find out exactly what it is! All I can recommend is weighing the ingredients to the nearest 0.1g and keeping records of everything that you make so if you are ever asked you can produce documentation showing the steps you have taken to ensure you are weighing accurately (this is just my personal advice, for more in depth knowledge I would recommend asking your local trading standards, as I know their advice can differ depending on what part of the country you are in!)
I know! I think it is our job to make it all look incredibly easy when in reality, anyone who makes any kind of homemade craft knows how hard it actually is!
How much stock in terms of soaps would you recommend taking with you to a craft show? I really want to book one but I have no idea how much stock to take or make etc :p
Really enjoyed your video. The fair looks just like our local Three Counties fairs, although I've never seen craft stalls in one of the barns! And I too tend to gravitate towards the food, whilst my DH heads towards the beer and cheese!😆

What are your top tips and tricks to be prepared for a craft fair? (Newbie and my first fair is end of June)

Oh Anne. You're so tired now we'll done to you both. ❤️ Iris
Thank you Iris, I was so tired by that point! I bounced back after a good sleep though! x
