2002 ... I was broken with 4 children. Loved like I should and lived like I shouldn't... I sold /gave away all my furniture... Packed a bag for each of my children and we took a taxi to the greyhound. Best decision of my life ...
This song helped me through the absolute most difficult times of my life (late 90’s to about 2005). I never struggled with depression until then and I’m still trying to keep at least one nostril above water to this day. Not sure how much further I want to go. A lot of it was self inflicted and a lot of it wasn’t. I’m just tired.
Does not matter that this was the song in 2002. This song will be forever make an impact in life “so yes we all can relate to Moving On in life. Thank you
I thank God for this song. It gave me strength when I needed more than I could've imagined. Thank you for writing this. You have no idea what your song means to people. Thank you again.
RASCAL FLATTS ARE MY FAVORITE COUNTRY BAND!!! THEIR MUSIC HAS HELPED ME THROUGH MY LIFE. IN GOOD, AND BAD SITUATIONS. I WISH I COULD TELL THEM THAT IN PERSON. BUT I KNOW I CAN'T. IT'S MY DREAM TO MEET THEM, AND TELL THEM HOW MUCH THEIR MUSIC HAS HELPED ME THROUGH OUT MY LIFE. I'VE LISTENED TO THEM THROUGHOUT THEIR CAREER. FROM THE BEGINNING, UNTIL NOW. I HOPE THEY GO ON UNTIL THEY ARE OLD AND GREY.
Thank you for this song. It is timeless, no matter where you are in life .....starting out, mid way...pushing towards the end...it's all relevant :) God Bless.
I find myself coming back to this song often. I love Rascall Flatt's version, but the writer adds a certain something that's not in the other version. I wish this was out as a single that could be downloaded. I would definitely buy it.
This song meant a lot to me! It came out the year I left Nashville and I listened to it all the way to Puget sound! Not too many songs move a songwriter so profoundly as this!
2002, this song confirmed my decision to divorce after almost 20 yrs ...Almost 20 yrs later, I have been married to my preteen crush for over 7 yrs... This song described my situation perfectly and I have never been more blessed..... At last.... I can finally see....
That’s the songs my kids used as phone notification on their phone for me mom. Then later was unhealthy. Told them I’ll accept the first but no way the second. Even though I like it too.
As much as I love this song, the writer's lying about the song helping them sell. Their first album was already GOLD long before this song came out, and this song didn't even go to number 1, it went to number 4. It sound like it's the other way around, that Rascal Flatts made HIS career, he's only had THREE legit hits (number 1s) in TWENTY YEARS. "Pride comes before a fall."
Ah that's interesting. maybe memories just fade & all humans have a way of remembering their glory days as the star qb in high school playoffs in some way or another.

This is the song of my life...I never dreamed home would end up where I don't belong...put words to what I had been feeling for so, so long.
