In my humble opinion, I always found it incredibly poetic the way At World's End left off with Jack. In the final scene, we leave Jack the exact same way we were introduced to him at the beginning of Curse of the Black Pearl. After a series of life-changing, unforgettable, legendary adventures, he sails off into the sunset on a rickety dinghy with nothing but a bottle of rum and a thirst for more adventure. To me, it came off as the ultimate testament to his character. It showed that no matter what he may go through, the choices he makes, or the impossibility of tomorrow, Jack Sparrow always finds a way to bounce back and continue living the pirate's life.
Not to mention by the time we get to Pirates 5 Jack is unrecognizable as a character. He’s an idiot who gets lucky that whole movie. He use to make people believe he was stupid so they would underestimate him but he was always one step ahead of everyone. That’s how he survived.
Can’t really blame Depp too much for playing his role like that. The movie was made during his worst days with Amber Heard which had an immense effect on his daily mood. The poor guy was basically terribly depressed by what was happening in his personal life and, oh boy, does it show in Dead Men Tell No Tales.
Jack really did get what he wanted at the end of the third movie. He never actually wanted treasure or to be captain, he just wanted adventure. Whenever he got what he wanted, he didn't just throw it away because he's a good guy, he threw it away because the game would be over if he didn't. Even when he was doing good things, it was for selfish reasons, which is why I agree that no conclusion is the best, since nothing could ever satisfy him.
I’d agree with the nothing satisfying him part, but I do not believe he throws everything away just so that he has something to do. He wants something to do, but he never actually throws anything away for it. When he came back to the kraken for example, he came back knowing that he may be sent to the locker, which defiantly doesn’t have anything for him to do.
I agree that 3 is the perfect finale for the character, but I think Depp's point is that since disney DID continue the franchise, he wanted a movie to wrap it up nicely. Not a perfect comparison but imagine if we only got the phantom menace and attack of the clones after the original trilogy; yes, RotJ was a perfect finale already, but it wouldn't be unreasonable to want a conclusion to the entire series.
Originally, POTC5 by Rossio was supposed to have a sorceress as a villain. Will and Elizabeth are not involved. Jack teams up with a sassy little girl who can fight with a sword (!) and the priest from 4 (who is now a cartographer). The Trident of Poseidon works a bit differently - they have to find and place small colored crystal balls on each tine to make it work. They're in competition with the Queen of Spain, no less, who already owns the Trident. Syrena comes back too - we have a glimpse of what her seaworld looks like. Barbossa has a storyline where he falls in love with a prostitute and his scenes are really funny. Jack's intro scene depicts him, actually attached by his feet with two pieces of rope to two sea turtles who are dragging him under the sea - so the legend is real. He ends up getting the Pearl back with Barbossa as first mate. The post credits scene sees Barbossa setting up a mutiny. It looks like the only idea they used in the final movie is the Trident as a McGuffin and an action scene happening between two big waves (which is bigger and better in the script). It needed some extra work but the characters were more consistent with what we see through the franchise.
So like, the mermaids have some magic to restore the pearl or barbossa just does what he did in the 5th film? Also, I guess they kinda kept the sorcereress, but she sided with the British who then got obliterated by Salazar. Also, wasn't the priest in the 4th movie turned into a merman by syreana at the end?
@@samcochran8203 At first, they're searching for the Mermaid Trove which is a gathering of all kinds of treasures found in sunken ships. This is the reason why the priest became a cartographer. He didn't stay with Syrena - from what I remember, their love story was not well perceived by the other mermaids? The sorceress is more of a zombie/ghost called the Sea Widow. The bottle is lost into the ocean during a sea battle. The Sea Widow says she can't do much about it but toward the end, she makes the Pearl emerge (full size) to lure Jack to her as she's the one controlling the ship (and she makes it fly through the clouds!). And while I'm at it, the Trident (Poseidon is refered as Neptune in this draft) allows its owner to control the winds, the tides and the creatures of the sea. There is no mention about lifting any curse.

I agree here, but they had to go and open that door again by teasing Davy Jones's return at the end of 5, and I don't like unresolved cliffhangers (Ash vs. Evil Dead Season 3 finale is a huge example). If Disney could make a good sixth and final outing of this series, please do it, but not before offering Johnny Depp the greatest apology of all time. On a side note, At World's End is my favorite of the POTC movies. I know a lot of people dislike it, but it had things I really enjoy, such as teamwork. As far as I'm concerned the Pirates of the Caribbean Franchise ended with At World's End. I simply ignore On Stranger Tides and Dead Men Tell No Tales because they were completely unnecessary and felt more like Cash Grabs.
Johnny Depp made a good point about Jack Sparrow and the can only go so far....at least with Jack Sparrow but he's been a actor long enough to know if Disney wishes to continue with a new character the will. same goes with any Franchise movie.
I said that about Dead Men Tell No Tales. Most of it is stupid, like retconning Jack's origin, but there's one story kernel I think needed further exploration: Poseidon's trident. The Salazar ghost plot aside, this interested me a great deal, because they said it was the cause of all the curses in the sea. This connects to the first film, when Barbossa mentioned the heathen gods cursing the Aztec gold. Maybe they used the power of the trident to do it. In fact, I would show a flashback of the gods using it to curse the coins as Hernan Cortes is transporting them on his ship. Also, Poseidon was dead. I want to know more about this! Who killed Poseidon? Calypso? Did she and other gods conspire to do it and then take turns using the trident? Take this plot, combine it with Cordery's Old Man Jack story, have Jack join forces with Will and Elizabeth one last time, feature Davy Jones as an antagonist, and we have the final Pirates of the Caribbean adventure.
One thing about that stupid trident piqued my interest: now that the curses at sea are broken or whatever, maybe we see Davy Jones returning in his human form (from POTC3) to exact revenge on Jack? good opportunity to see Davy Jones go up against Jack without his kraken or any of his other magical tricks.
Ehhhh, Jack is a selfless hero in actuality. The brand he's given is given to people who would free slaves. That's a massive piece of character detail that a lot of people don't know about or ignore. But that says a lot about Jack.

Jack Sparrow is kinda like Murdock from The A-team. He's an interesting character but doesn't deserve to have an entire movie centered around just him.
I liked the first three best. The first one has an great introduction and i love the music of all the three films. I also like the Pirates with Carmen Luvana it`s a different one but so sexy.
I sort of disagree with what you said regarding Jack's clothes in the fifth movie, because it's more than just a backstory for his accessories. All the pieces that made up his attire, from his hat, to his head decor, to his weapons, all came from the crewmembers he saved. Tributes from the men who fought and died by his side. That's why he's always seen wearing them, and why he treasures them so much.
I absolutely love the ending at worlds end! Elizabeth and Will have a final goodbye kiss! Jack sales the seas with some rum on his next adventure. Without the full context acknowledging 4/5 Happend! Those are filler movies. ☠️☠️☠️
Just as an FYI there's a 6th canonical 'movie' for potc by way of the pirate's life DLC in sea of thieves, I feel like that ending is fitting for Jack and the other characters and ends on a really positive note, but unfortunately it was made after Depp was cut from the series.
With the compass stuff i think he was more like lending it, but he changed it for rum.... naaaaah the compass would be like im gonna fall on a bucket, the horse will drop it somewhere and jack would be like oh there u are
They should have stopped after the first three movies. They worked together beautifully and required no extension of the series. Johnny Depp pretty much has worn out his welcome in Hollywood with his eccentric lifestyle and movie choices. He starred in quite a few massive bombs over the years. His only real claim to fame was Jack Sparrow and working with Tim Burton. Nothing later in his career ever really worked for him or the general public. And Disney has planned for quite a while to reboot the series with a female cast centering on other pirates. So whatever his sentimental wishes about giving the character a "proper" send off, it was absolutely never going to happen as he blew his wad by sticking around too long in the series. No one is really interested in seeing him anymore. He's kinda like Robert Downey Junior with Iron Man. He's a one trick pony and that pony has died.
Good point, I never thought of him as a bad captain... but he is. I hated how every. single. myth/urban legend turned out to be true. Calypso "Goddess of the sea" wasnt enough, they had to introduce Poseidon? f*** off. It's weird that they asked Depp all those Pirates Questions during a trial about domestic violence, but i guess they needed clickbate YT videos to keep people interested...
No no it’s relevant to the case because he needed to describe what he lost because of Amber and he lost his favorite most important role I’ve never seen one of these movies but still sad man

The last two films are not as good as the trilogy. I agree with every point you make, but I still enjoyed them. They're still more fun than most action-adventure movie releases, warts and all.
10:45 I will never understand how companies like Disney who have billions of dollars choose to make scenes look cheap & fake by filming inside w/fake lights….use sunlight! It’s free! They had no problem doing that w/ the 1st 2 films! Same problem The Hobbit movies had.
Yeah i would love for another pirates movie as an apology to johnny depp so he gets paid a fuck ton of money but narratively i dont think it should happen
11:34 Since Hollywood is so arrogant in knowing what the audience wants then lecture us about how bad we are for liking that thing, I fully support the audience gaslighting Hollywood, Morbius style. Maybe we can convince Warner Bros to release Batgirl.
I found enjoyment in some form with all 5 movies. I am not a purists when it comes to this series. HOWEVER there is no pirates of the Caribbean without Jack Sparrow. Good luck Disney.....assholes
I personally never watched 4 and 5. As a standalone film, the original was great. As a trilogy, it was maybe as cohesive as Matrix. Anything after that just screamed *cash grab*, and life's too short. Agree the Logan idea might work if Disney weren't Disney.

What happened to this channel? Nothing new? Did they take some videos down? What happened?
Full Length PotC series retrospective/analysis when?
Even by the 3rd Pirates Depp wasn't exactly stellar. Davy Jones stole the show and ran with it.
Jack was literally the mastermind behind the whole plan that folded out in the end, alongside william and Elizabeth too ofc.
The compas he lent to others never trded it way. So it seemed only when he treded it for the rum was when he messed up.
What I _really_ want is more Master and Commander.
Just as an FYI there's a 6th canonical 'movie' for potc by way of the pirate's life DLC in sea of thieves, I feel like that ending is fitting for Jack and the other characters and ends on a really positive note, but unfortunately it was made after Depp was cut from the series.
With the compass stuff i think he was more like lending it, but he changed it for rum.... naaaaah the compass would be like im gonna fall on a bucket, the horse will drop it somewhere and jack would be like oh there u are
Where are you @CORDZ
COME BACK
11:30 I love THAT Pirates. 🖤
Is this the darkest chapter in the conjoining universe?
That liar took Captian Jack away from us. DONT LET HER WIN!
No no it’s relevant to the case because he needed to describe what he lost because of Amber and he lost his favorite most important role
I’ve never seen one of these movies but still sad man
Bad captain? Did u forget the finale of at world's end?
Also what's wrong with Calypso?
The point of this franchise is litterally to make the legends of the sea real.
@@victornewmanforever Davy Jones, Calypso, flying Dutchman, black pearl, Blackbeard, trident of Poseidon. What else?
Oh and also, i would also many good characters as well
@@victornewmanforever no. the point is to make money by churning out adventures. the problem is they need to keep upping the ante by introducing more outrageous stuff. the first movie only had zombie pirates and it showed that this was a novel situation that no one had encountered before (jack was surprised that the curse was real, which if you made a deal with davy jones why would you be?). the second movie then introduced davy jones and then it escalated to freeing calypso from her bonds would doom us all! now Greek Gods are a thing? its getting too muddled for the sake of escalation
Pirates II: Stagnetti's Revenge is my favorite of the series.
WE DO NOT NEED A 6TH MOVIE WITHOUT JOHNNY DEPP
Hi CordZ if you ever come back, could you make a video on shows like my haunted house and Paranormal Survivor? As their honestly so bad their good. Also where's part two to your amazing Ash video? Anyway I love your channel, as your great content was able to get me through some really hard times in my life. So If you don't come back, than you for all the amazing content over the years!
And the channel died. :/
Couldn't agree more with the statement!
The last two films are not as good as the trilogy. I agree with every point you make, but I still enjoyed them. They're still more fun than most action-adventure movie releases, warts and all.
I must be dumb. I actually quite enjoyed 4 and 5.
I recently rewatched all the films 1 is the best but I loved 2 and 3 a lot more than I remember 4 was crap and 5 had ist moments.
The only movie I enjoy is 1. I didn't understand what happened in sequel
Miss you Cordz
10:45 I will never understand how companies like Disney who have billions of dollars choose to make scenes look cheap & fake by filming inside w/fake lights….use sunlight! It’s free! They had no problem doing that w/ the 1st 2 films! Same problem The Hobbit movies had.
When are you coming back
Notifications on RUclips really sucks. 8 days late...
besides no jack sparrow no pirates movie for me
Yeah i would love for another pirates movie as an apology to johnny depp so he gets paid a fuck ton of money but narratively i dont think it should happen
James cameron for the last pirate movie let see what happen
I personally never watched 4 and 5. As a standalone film, the original was great. As a trilogy, it was maybe as cohesive as Matrix. Anything after that just screamed *cash grab*, and life's too short. Agree the Logan idea might work if Disney weren't Disney.
Great video.
Is Pirates 5 can someone explain to me why Barbosa is the only character that have seemed to age in the 20 years between this movie and the third one?
I've never actually watched any Pirates of the Caribbean films before. Any ideas where I can find them?
Disney+
Didnt know there are five movies, I thought its a trilogy. I have seen only the first film.
I agree with the Logan rout!
I only own the first 3, I totes get that!!!
You changed your channel name???
What will we do with a drunken sailor?
Reboot him.
What will we do with a drunken sailor?
Early in the morning?
part 3 though ended like there were more down the road didnt it i mean they already hinted the fountain of youth storline they use in on stranger tides
You could say jack had ‘leverage’ over other characters.
part 4 sucked. part 5 was great but they should have ended it there. Not bring Davy Jones show up for a possibility.
Old man Jack would be really gibs would be the professor x of the movie
