  • There goes those Bitcoiners again claiming Bitcoin fixes everything! They even say Bitcoin will end wars! Well leaning on some simple budgeting and incentive principles, Ser Ulric posits that in the future Bitcoin would very well impact the cost benefit of forever wars we are so used to since the beginning of the Central Banking Era. Bitcoin's unforgeable costliness will bring consequence back to the Business of War.
Food for Thought: "Be not one of those who give pledges, who put up security for debts."

Just gave another rewatch. Makes even more sense. My conviction in Bitcoin is even stronger. What’s the alternative? War and despair. “Bitcoin is peace in a sly round about way. “

bitconers need to remember and ask this one question why does it get its value in fiat currencies? It did not invent money only innovated it; which is genius in the digital age. Yes the money is flawed but that is due to policy not what it is or does. bitcoin is the money of the digital age but the others will and should still exist to keep value decentralised not controlled by one entity. keep to how money works and what stored value is. Remember bitcoin is electronic money which holds value in its parts. It gains it's value from other currencies, its utility and it's demand. It cannot replace money and should not. We dont want a world of the one currency, which is bad, because each country values it's resources etc differently. Think gold and how it works, gains value and keeps value over time.

You're close, however, Bitcoin gets its value from the fact that it is decentralized, has rules with no rulers, and democratizes energy. The hard-coded algorithms pigeonhole miners toward efficiency, which is terrific news for world energy consumption. It is hard money for the same reason that gold is denominated in every world currency, and at a favorable rate. It is no accident that the reserve currency of the world, USD, was removed from the gold standard. Commodities are limited, and thus their values increase over time with demand, enabling every day people to retain their purchasing power. Try holding USD and saying you have fair purchasing power 5 years from now, or any Federal Reserve note for that matter.
Letting the world value standard stand in Bitcoin, a commodity, is not centralizing value, because no policy can corrupt it via supply increase or change to proof-of-stake consensus. Changes to block size requires a global consensus that would be detrimental to the high accessibility of operating personal nodes. Bitcoin is a commodity and stands the test of time as a store of value just as gold did, and improves upon gold's shortcomings by also providing an accounting network and medium of exchange for value. It's highly portable and can be taken anywhere, and does not require war to maintain its value to the world.
The community behind Bitcoin has shown through its own internal struggle that it wants to solve one task: settle property on a single layer, and remain open to expansion via lower-layer protocols. We can't print Bitcoin to fund a war, so where do our intentions lie ultimately and how do they differ from that of the Fed's?

@@asamcclellan2721 Tell us about Banks and how they work? Or tell us about supply and demand then explain the principle of who has the most controls the price!

@@davidabraham5325banks receive loans from the Fed to create their own loans to the public as well as private companies. The Fed is the sole controller of the money supply at the end of the day.
Bitcoin, gold, and other valuable commodities go up for two reasons: either everyone wants them (demand up) or there are too many dollars against the commodity (supply up).
Bitcoin has a fixed supply, and with increasing demand over the years as well as no end in sight to the printing of USD (a currency which denominates the BTC), BTC is your best store of value.
