What steps are YOU going to take to jumpstart your coding journey? Leave a comment below letting me know!!👇 😊
yes i want do
Hi
I am shaun, age= 16
I took IP (informatics practices) it about python idle
I have questions by learning this python program can I become software engineer?
Also I really want to work in google or Microsoft or Facebook
So can you please give tips
Just started my interest and I've gotten myself into coursera for it support and I've been watching vids on RUclips. Thanks for video.
what computer do you recommend for coding ?
Could u take me under your guidance as a mentor?
As a self taught React developer, I know how hard it is to be a developer, I am a frontend.
Starting with Html, Css and Js was a good starting point for me, then with React I added more power to my projects. I think it is important to experiment, create projects and understand which language or library we like. There are no shortcuts, no recipes, I think it takes a lot of willpower, and the care of many aspects, which also go beyond the code. Great advice and great video 😊
Absolutely! It takes a lot of experimentation and just trying different languages/frameworks to start to get more comfortable 😀
Can, you tell me a source for learning JavaScript.I am having a hard time learning it.
@@atuldwivedi3959 You can see on RUclips, there a lot of great things ✌🏻
@@universecode1101 I will be more than glad if you could suggest the name of anyone of them?
@@atuldwivedi3959 What specific area of JavaScript are you having trouble with? General syntax? Basic understanding? Data structures? Using it for programming/web development?
I would say a own modular Project like a game is one of the most efficient way to learn programming (even C++) with a lot less pain, than solve abstract problems. For example, when you created a world and you see there is a problem with your performance, because your object handling has a bad algorithm, you will learn more effective that your current algorithm is bad and you will improve it. Solve coding puzzles can be very frustrating especially for beginners. To understand for example a 2D array as a world map is more intuitive than a matrix of values.
Very interesting video Pooja. I have to say, when I learned how to code, I couldn't stop. I was completely addicted, though I hardly write any code now. I think what really helped me learn was trying to get to the answer for a financial markets model and nothing other than learning to code would get me there. So personally I think besides all of your excellent tips, it really helps to construct the end product in your mind and fall in love with you. You either end up a developer or a Product Manager/CEO, and both are fantastic outcomes.
this is actually refreshing. most others tell newcomers to pick a language, learn data structures, and apply for a job 😅
Glad it was helpful! 😀
@Aaron Corleone I started to learn today I saw something called pyton I tried to learn that I saw xy I was like whatttt 💀💀
@@nizia7z i would recommend you C++ or another language with standart syntax, because languages like Python and other types of scriptlanguages are sometimes very frustating, because the lack of intuitive logic.
@@thenilusss4911 ok thank you for the recommendation
Excellent video!!! I would recommend all would be programmers to watch it! It is very informative and educative! Thank you Ms. Pooja!
Thank you so much!! ☺️
If you want to make Android apps, you should prioritize Kotlin not Java. Most jobs will want you to know Kotlin over Java. Java knowledge is helpful and you should familiarize yourself with it.
I am an aspiring Software Engineer and I totally understood nothing of what you said. I hope I will understand it someday though 😢 Btw I am starting uni this September and taking SE!!!! ❤
It’s okay to not understand - you’re still taking steps to expose yourself to this type of content ☺️ I felt the same way! I made a video about this as well: ruclips.net/video/GvBgPBVcjEM/видео.html
I am in my early 30s and looking to make a career switch into software engineering. I already have a decent job but the work-from-home/remote aspect of tech is something I desire so much that I am willing to completely transition fields at this age. Now, the youtube tech community says that the 'self-taught' route is viable. Taking their word for it I started learning last month in June. I have learned html and css, and I am about a week into javascript. It seems easy so far but I feel like I am barely scratching the surface ...........
That’s a great start! But yes, you may expedite the learning process by learning JavaScript (as well as understanding react and node.js). Also take a structured course online (I’ve listed some resources in the description)
@@PoojaDutt react and node.js are just scratching the surface of JavaScript. there's still so much more to learn its overwhelming.
I'm about to jump into the same rabbit hole 😅. How far have you gotten so far with self-teaching?
Amazing video - what a precise explanation down to layman terms of what coding is and how one could go about learning it !!
Thank you!!
Hey I just started learning python, and want to add django on top of it. My question is if I want to be job ready in 6 months. How many hours per day coding would you recommend?
In the beginning, even 30 min to 1 hour a day is okay! It depends more on the quality rather than quantity of learning
IF YOU DON'T RESPOND, YOU COULD BE BUSY BUT TAKE JUST A MINUTE TO RESPOND!!
What classes that you take do you think are not important or not needed to become a software engineer.
Omg i had kick with your 'whats a moo?' Lmao loved it. Keep making more computer videos.
Thank you
I am working in service based company with only 4.5 LPA and I am 26, can I land on FAANG if I can start over in one year. I can code but not *program* I have to start over like I will start again with Angela Wu or DSA because I have no interest in coding and it will never come but I need more good money like lakhs per month so, it's like without mind and heart, I have to do it anyhow. Please tell the way to get this done in one year.
I genuinely have no idea what 75% of what you talked about means. But the fact that I paused the video several times to do a quick search on certain terms makes me believe that I WILL get there at some point. Thank you and keep putting out the awesome videos!!!
Random question: does anybody have any advice? I'm currently going for an associate's degree on a computer science pathway. However, since I suck at math and have been out of school for years and don't remember crap from high school, should I switch to an IT-focused career path instead of CS with intentions of still being a software developer or maybe cybersecurity?
I am instrumentation engineering students but i am interested to code, i have 0 knowledge in coding , but by seeing these kind videos it giving boost ,thank you sis
Awww glad this made you interested in coding!
I start to be interesting by that since a week ! I Saw a tons of vidéos in english and french and you was so clear and simple. Thank you !!!
what movie portrays coder coding from basement and eating chips?
Super helpful video Pooja!! Great insights and awesome production as always 🙌🏻
Thanks Juan Carlos! 😀
I first started with CS50 and C. I would not recommend this. I then moved on to Java, which I consider my primary language. My team at work also has front end components so had to teach myself JavaScript/TypeScript React. If I was just starting now, I would probably start with Python because it's easy to read.
It's interesting how there's this "war" of JavaScript vs Python starting language with some C sprinkled in between 😅
Really Very underrated, you're teaching way is just amazing. I gave my 100 to learn coding and still I'm stuck into it. BTW greetings from Pakistan. :-)
Thank you so much!!
Frontend vs. Backend has gotten very muddy over the past several years.
Knew some python but started with C++ fresh. Next is algorithms and data structures. What should be next to get job ready as soon as possible? 😊 thank you!
create some personal projects
to build a porfolio
If I have had possibility to start it over, then the Best Decision i would have made is Not to Start it at All!!!!
Fair enough!
Aw thank you so much for making this :) I'm still a senior in high school and I do have a good amount of coding experience but sometimes this field overwhelms me cuz there's so much to learn. (and i love watching ur videos!!)
Aww glad this was helpful! 😊 you got this!
How are you doing now? I am a senior in High school pursuing software
just realized i have a lot to learn ...i blacked out so many times in confusion
It’s okay! I’ve felt that way too - self awareness is the key to moving forward
This seems so hard and so intimidating! Kinda frustrating
🤣You said lets jmp into it and kept talking about it🤣
me focusing background music jongkookkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk😨🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐
youre so fucking gorgeous i cant believe it
Awesome video as always!
Thanks Jason! 😀
Hi Pooja love ur vids! so I just finished a bootcamp in frontend development and I was wondering if you had any tips on getting my first tech job? The job hunt has been discouraging for a while so and any help is appreciated :)
Glad you enjoyed the videos! I would recommend reaching out to software engineering recruiters on LinkedIn. But instead of just asking for their time, you could do the groundwork by applying to a job, sending them the exact job Id so they don’t have to hunt for your app, and also just set up time for them to chat with you 😀
I want to learn coding for a very long time now and my biggest problem is the step from beginner to actually making projects that i would like to make. I am learning java and everything right now is just printing out things to the command line
I hear ya.. it can be tough to start from the very beginning. It definitely helps to take a tutorial online in that case. There are tons of free courses online (check out RUclips, PluralSight, and udemy)
I like the end music and scenery as a nice wrap up 😊 Great vibrations 🎉
Thanks so much!!
me at my 4th yr college, still don't know how to code 🥺
You can do it!!! I went through an entire college degree and barely knew how to code
I want to teach C++, The problem is I never did it in a class and took many years. I started coding when I was say 20/ 21 (1991) but took a few years to become really good at it. I never did courses.
In 99 I eventually did a Java course, however it taught me strategies on how to approach problem solving which was very good.
Shout out to the short anime clip - looks like Kuroko Shirai from A Certain Scientific Railgun (Highly recommend this one)- also great advice. I am watching the Angela Yu videos from Udemy.
I would rive the presentation differently. You start right, program is nothing than 1 and 0, but then slow move up, present numbers, chars, elements of images, then what you can do with them? Read, write, modify... You switched to fast to web programming and most people will remain puzzled.
Hello, my name is Cássimo, I'm in need my dream is to become a computer programmer i want to learn how to code but i don't have a computer i woud be happy and greatful if you could help me.
Excellent advice. At first I was a bit overwhelmed, then realized, I was getting a preview of what's to come.
Hi Pooja, i liked your video. It is structured and logic. Ideas are ordered and easy to follow to get a general view of coding. Thank you !
No problem! Glad you liked it 😀
I'll stick with gentle basic coding in Amos as a hobby (now done via emulation on an old tablet lol) thanks.
So few people these days learn for leisure only (eg like the 80s computer mags had fun entries to type out and learn)
But great video for those who want to get into industry jobs etc!
The only person who gives me hope to code🙌🏽🙌🏽plz never stop uploading.. U r an inspiration to me
Aww thank you! So glad you liked the video! 😀

If just someone had told me coding includes eating chips in an oversized hoodie, I would have chosen that career path long ago.
Can u pls teach how to create 3d games on Android I'll love if you did that
I am want to learn JS and then probably one or two frame work of JS. Can you give me an adivice on where to start ?
Excelente best regards🎉
the question Was frustrating is which or how many languages you have to learn and it keeps sense to me and also others for software engineering and data science 😀 are the best choice for us
oh that was ephoria
You got 1 more subscriber ,i got one more mentor ❤
😀
I think by starting to learn web development as a software developer is the starter
Not only are you smart, you're also articulated & beautiful.. *sighs*
Anyways, great video, very informative. Even with my ADHD, I was able to focus, well for the most part.
Glad it was an easy video to focus to! thanks for the kind words
Best teacher i came across
Aww thank you!
girl the background music drove nuts
Hi, pooja sis... I'm very much poor in understanding, speaking and also in writing English.
Can i get job in software?
Pls help with this 🙏🙏🙏
You can get a job - it just takes practice. Communication is part of being a software engineer so either A) see this as an opportunity to learn English or B) feel free to get a software engineering job in your country of origin
unfortunate I started learning to code web development to be more precisely in 2013 , couldn't land my first job till now I have huge imposter syndrome that made me in depression since than , I don know what to do or how should I continue I really need some help but I dont know who to ask , I dont ask for big salaries actually I can work for free at least to gain some confidence this kills me every day with no hope
You can do it 💪🏽 I felt like that for a very, very long time. The biggest thing you can do for yourself is to not put too much pressure on yourself and try learning one small thing at a time. For example, take a full day to understand functions (read online or take a course), try to understand what OOP is, and then maybe take a step forward to understand data types etc
I think I'm going to study data science next month at uni. Why "I think"? Cause I don't have any idea about what should I study. So I decided to analyze my personality and what am I good at. So... I think data science would be a good option for me.... I can change my career anyway. I'm going to start with those assignments that are in every career I like. Thanks for your videos and for sharing your journey and experience with us.
Totally, you should give it a shot! And thanks! 😀
starts by C if you are good UwU
Good analogies. Good content. Maybe, the best language C#. 🤔 Thanks
Thank you! 😀
Great content. I had one question how does one succeed as an intern. Sure I know how to program, but every company uses a different tech stack, and getting familiar with those technologies also takes time as well. I feel like the more you learn the more you realize that there is so much that you don't know.
i'd say just try to be familiar with the requirements they have on their job posting, if you can make it past the interview you have nothing to really worry about. one thing i learned while interning is that the company doesn't expect a lot from you they more so expect you to use the oppurtunity to learn. even as a new hire there will be a span of time where you spend a lot of your time just learning without crazy expectations.
I am currently an intern at good tech company. But they use a lot of technologies like docker, Kubernetes, aws and I don't have much experience.
Do you have a mentor? If not, find one (-: that is super important as an intern. It helps to ask this person questions and bounce ideas back and forth with this person as well. It also helps to collab with other interns 😀
I actually have a mentor and everyone is quite helpful. But sometimes it just feels overwhelming because there is so much that I don't know yet. Also I was focusing more on getting my fundamentals right because they matter a lot for interviews and to become a good engineer. But now I think I should pay more attention to other technologies as well.
I want to take a jumpstart at IT Industry. I am having difficulty choosing which course to take between "Data Science" or "Full Stack Déveloper"
I may be biased towards a “full stack developer”, but I think either choice is really good! With data science, you get to analyze vast amounts of data and make sense of entropy. It sounds really cool!
@@PoojaDutt Indeed. Thanks for the inspiring video. I have just watched another one hour argument video between them, and it made me decide taking Data Science than being developer. 😁😊😇
Hi👋
I am a newbie and just learning data structures and algorithms and then I'll move to html css javascript.
Is this the right approach to start with coding or first I should go for HTML CSS JAVASCRIPT?
Learning DS and Algos is great, but I would recommend learning one language as well (JavaScript is good) in order to apply these principles
@@PoojaDutt I am currently learning JAVA
But confused as a non CS background student which path to follow can you please guide
Almost everything included here. That's great.
😀
Thanks for the advice! I still plan on getting a degree on Networking in the Information Technology field.
That’s awesome! 😀
are there any personal projects you did that helped boost your resume? and how did you get over the technical interview hump?
I did a few personal projects (using Unity to make a virtual ball rolling game for the Oculus, and a investing app). But if you have a college education or experience from a boot camp, it doesn’t matter as much to have projects. Projects matter more when you’re self taught
works PERFECTLY!
How old are you? I know you're not much older than me (23) yet I feel like you have alot more knowledge & experience in software than I do 😅
26 haha. It’s probably a combination of using Google, and also just the compounded effect of an extra year or two of experience (-: Social media can be a facade
@@PoojaDutt oh honestly that's a reasonable age difference. hopefully in 2-3 years I'll be this proficient also if I stay consistent 💪.
love your content ! :-)
I started learning Python a week ago, is it a good choice?
Python is a great language to learn!
You didnt make mention of html css in your frontend part
I think html and css should be a second step imo! Just because JavaScript or typescript teaches you the fundamentals of functional/OOP principles, whereas html and css don’t have that. But I agree, those two are important to know. The main concepts are really important before diving into several languages though
What is your major and did you start with computer science first and then programming languages and what is your programming path now?
Computer science! Yes I started with CS , but learned programming through my intro courses
