Sorry for the late upload - but what did you think of this week's episode? It's another crazy one, and next week should be truly awesome... Let me know your thoughts below!
I'm curious what you think of As Nodt voice acting. Not what I expected but man, I love it. It's like smooth melted chocolate filled with fire spiders.
"As a show of respect, I'll let you off with just burns." Seeing him completely obliterate Driscal like that really hits how much he held back against those three.
You know, you're right. Cause at the time, when I saw him sat that to them, I thought he was being extra lol but he was being for real. Like he let them off really easy
Underrated part of the episode: This is the first time *IN THE ENTIRE SERIES* we've heard Byakuya scream. At no point in this anime was there a time or a situation, no matter how dire, did Byakuya just scream and lash out like he did. Not only does it emphasize how powerful As Nodt's Schrift is, it also further develops Byakuya's character that would've otherwise gone unnoticed in the manga (and to a certain point, Rukia as well).
That is a great point, and it makes sense considering He's a ranged warrior, so he uses the bankai from afar, while Sasakibe was a melee fighter. It's similar to how white uses zangetzu as a ranged weapon unlike ichigo.
@@calilaployploy2827 Its strange since Chojiro on the games actually does use Gonryumaru to point at targets so the lightning strikes at them from above x) He also does use the thrust as a finisher.
@@FokiHun That's probably because the BBS team just didn't know how Chojiro used his Bankai. So they probably thought LIGHTNING and made a reasonable assumption it was used with range.
I loved the scene when Zaraki dropped the 3 stern ritter bodies and called them trash when all the other captains are getting their asses handed to them. He's such a bad ass in that scene.
To be fair, Zaraki went up against THE three that would get their asses handed to them. A brute that deafened him, a guy who's entire depends on the opponent being able to hear, then essentially another brute. Zaraki got handed the perfect trio to fight. I was hoping to see the actual fights though.
It will be interesting to see if thats true. Because the fight is completely different to every fight he did for naruto. Royd can't even clash swords with yamamoto in that fight because his sword will erase it so how is he going to animate the fight in his usual way? hes going to have to try something new out of his comfort zone. I think hes definitely going to be used in the 2 kenpachi fight though that is perfect for him. Although zaraki would look weird speeding around like the characters do in his fights.
@@tnuhenaj3752 true, but as we’ve seen Unohana wouldn’t. And he is AMAZING at displaying characters getting overwhelmed which is exactly what this fight is. Now he just gets to play with 2 characters who absolutely relish in it and I think if he does it right he can REALLY bring Zaraki and Yachiru to life in stunning fashion. To clarify I’m only talking about the Kenpachi fight. The Yama one I have faith in. It’s too important to get wrong and they’ve come through every step of the way so far.
The flashback of Old Man Yama and Sasakibe was incredible. I think that the episode overall is incredible in all departments but two scenes in particular really made me jump with joy. Hearing Byakuya’s VA scream in an attempt to stave off that fear was just DAMN, you really gotta love when VA’s love their job. The other scene is pretty much the exact same reason. Yamamoto’s words to Sasakibe right before absolutely incineration Driscoll were divine. That emotion just hit me like a truck. I love this episode. As of now, this has to be my favorite episode. If they continue the way they’re going now, each new episode will only be better than the last.
I think the anime removing Byakuya's speech and chojiro's funeral being cut short works out because you can feel in this episode that yami is truly saying goodbye to chojiro now that he's taken care of the guy basterdizing his bankai
While I agree to extent, I still believe the eulogy scene was more for Byakuya and Renji's character moments, than for Sasakibe's character. It served as a parallel between the relationship of a captain ( Yamamoto and Byakuya ) and a lieutenant ( Sasakibe and Renji). Yamamoto avenging Sasakibe was always going to be impactful.
Man MrTommo, you've really done a lot for Bleach for me. I'm at the point where I am just as excited to see your reaction as I am to watch the actual episode. I've been following you since you've had around 5k subs, and you've really kept my love of Bleach alive. Thank you for all of your awesome and engaging content. As for the episode, I feel like they are getting better and better each week. I am LOVING the additional scenes. Yeah, we didn't get the Driscol v. Chojiro fight, but we got an extended scene with him and Yama from 2000 years ago. I'm most looking forward to seeing more hints and foreshadowing for the *SPOILERS* Still Silver. I do hope that Ryuken and Isshin will have a small scene together that hints at it later on. These episodes have been fantastic so far and I am really excited for the rest of the arc! (edited to fix grammar :) )
I really like that we see Sasakibe using the bankai even if it is just for 1 attack. Him combining the lightning into his sword attack shows that the way Driscoll was using it to just launch lightning bolts 1 at a time was a really ineffective way of using it. Which also makes sense since he doesn't have a zanpakuto or any experience with the bankai at all.
Remember that flashback of Sasakibe was when he was young and his Bankai was brand new. He perfected to a point where he didn't have to use his sword and combine it with the lightning anymore. He could just use it from a distance just like Driscoll was doing it...
Finally seeing "The Fear" in animation is so surreal and exceeded my expectations. Its like I'm reading the chapter for the first time again, but in an enhanced version. The only thing that is missing now is the most anticipated part of the First Invasion: Yamamoto vs Yhwach.
This was phenomenal completely blown away by the extended sasakibe scenes it might have been small but it was still amazing to see him actually use his bankai.
The art and effects are absolutely incredible in the TYBW so far. But it looks like they sacrificed smooth movement for the sake of detailed art direction. This season is amazing so far, next week will be insane
yeah it’s true, i prefer smooth movement when it comes to action moments especially in shonen, but i can’t deny that the art itself has looked great for the most part, so i get it
They didn't "sacrifice" anything, they almost certainly don't have the time or budget for incredibly fluid animation. 4 cours of animation is already a ridiculously big ask in the absolute disaster that is the current anime industry. That's the whole reason why they brought in Taguchi, he's known for being able to make something look "cool" on the cheap.
Not to make any puns...but this episode was straight fire I was smiling the entire time watching it and audibly gasped when I saw Driscoll's face completely burn away
5 episodes in. I still get emotional with a huge grin on my face when the OP starts playing. On top of that, the episodes are so good. They are nailing it ! This is perfect
Music went crazy when Yama started acting up. And As Nodt's voice is so deep and intimidating. Not what I expected from him at all in the anime. His and Opie VAs went off
The episode was the beginning of Yamamoto's last hurrah and it did it in a brutally epic way. Him obliterating Berci for Sasikibe will always be legendary and showcases why he's not to be messed with especially hurting his subordinates.
Seeing Sasakibe wielding and activating his bankai was truly thrilling for me. He is one of the few people with a truly unique Zanpakutō blade, being modeled after a rapier (also referred to as an “espada ropera” funnily enough). Sasakibe’s bankai utilization truly embodies the way in which rapiers were wielded, prioritizing thrusts and jabs with one hand as opposed to slashes using both that are common with daitō. Sasakibe truly felt like the bleach embodiment of a renaissance knight, with an unwavering loyalty and adoration for his sovereign (Yamamoto) to the very end. Truly such a rich character design and dynamic between the two, it touched my heart.
Seeing Yama’s raw power animated like this really shows how strong he is. Do you know how hot something has to be to vaporize a human being instantly, let alone a super powered Sternritter?
@@yavuzy7798 Ah yes, Yhwach's mighty bankai that someone else honed for him for thousands of years and he never even needed to still become God of the universe
I like that they show Sasakibe using his bankai and then showing Driscoll is a very clever way to further emphasize the point that he doesn't know what he's doing aside from yamas comment. That sasakibe draws all the lightning to his blade while Driscoll stands idol hitting yama with one bolt is a nice detail.
The only thing I miss from the original bleach anime is the effect whenever someone had a huge reiatsu. The way screen would get hazy and the sound effect whenever someone like Yama or Kenpachi would arrive was always epic. When kenpachi showed up with 3 sternritter on his back I wish they would've sensed his reiatsu first
well no, the reason early bleach did this was to show the superiority and higher level of a character. you wouldn’t see someone like momo or rukia having an intense rieastu that causes others who are superior to feel it so it makes no sense if they did that for Kenny who isn’t on par with Ywach or Juguram.
@@felipez3115 Good catch. With Aizen's Special War Potential being "Reiatsu", I think Kubo decided to save the "pressure wave" for when *AND ONLY WHEN* Aizen appears out of Muken just to further emphasize Aizen's Reiatsu being on an entirely different level compared to even characters like Yamamoto and Kenpachi.
The fact that they showed Chojiro using his Bankai to strike Yamamoto was surprising. I had thought that the two had an actual battle with Chojiro only landing the one hit. But Yamamoto just stood there and let it happen.
You know, I am so glad I subscribed to your channel Tommo, because I am LOVING experiencing watching the TYBW arc in anime form with you. Loving both the live reaction and spoiler-free reaction (even though I already know it all)! Pretty awesome, dude! Thank you
That VA and the effects put to As Nodt voice were incredible. The shot with Byakuya frozen in place with As enveloping the entire background, it literally sounds like hes speaking from every direction at once, no where to go his voice cant reach. Sick shit
THEY ABSOLUTELY KILLED!! THE FLAMES WAS JUST AS INTENSE AS I FELT IT IN THE MANGA!!! man the ep as a whole is PERFECTION! The 10 years wait was worth it
one thing i noticed in this episode was how beautiful the lighting and colors were. a lot of negative ive seen about the arc so far was how dark everything is, but during the flashback with yamamoto and sasakibe just looking at the sky and the trees and how bright and vibrant they were shows they can do just as good as good a job on the other end of the spectrum
I’ve been waiting to see your reaction, HAD to know how you’d react mainly to the Byakuya scene because of how important it is to you lol. Can’t wait to watch.
As an anime only viewer, I thought this episode was absolutely *riveting*. It's my favorite episode so far! So many intense and epic moments. Can't wait to see what happens next!
They got this episode almost completely right on every level, especially Yama-ji entering the battlefield. It was triumphant, but also sinister because that old man was pissed. It is so plainly obvious that it makes up for the lesser buildup of his slow descent after Chojiro's death. Furthermore, Äs Nödt's "fight" against Byakuya was just amazing, especially when he cut up Byakuya with Senbonzakura to a slow arrangement of the Stërnritter theme. Finally, it really hit me in the gut, watching Ichigo being forced to hear the screams of the Research Department as Jidanbo was massacring them. It honestly hurt so much more to hear them. EDIT: I have now lost all respect for the Question. It's like the Argument Clinic sketch by Monty Python, but stupider. Also, legit surprised that Berenice was a dude. In addition, legitimately surprised they changed the circumstances behind Berenice's death, since he was no longer drowned out by Jerome.
That's still implied by showing the roar happen first, since it's in the manga as well it's not something they needed to waste time on. It's moreso implied that Zaraki is too dumb and fight obsessed to notice his hearing was badly damaged and only caught bits and pieces of "the question"
@@MrGksarathy he said his ears were ringing and again, not every line can make the cut. The question is obviously a power granted by Yhwach. We know that it causes self doubt. Why didn't it work? There's only one reason and it's in the manga. Anyone who cares can investigate, most of us already know lol
The Yamamoto vs O scene so far has to be my favorite. I cannot imagine how many hours those few seconds of animation took. I'm at a loss for words, it was just very, very good
This episode was an emotional rollercoaster. Even though I read the manga and know what's gonna happen, to see it animated and to hear the voices is beautiful.
I always read Äs Nödt like Doug Bradley's Pinhead and the voice they gave him for the anime is not far off from how he was in my head. Fully pleased so far, can't wait to see what the VA will do once we get to his later appearance.
Jidanbo’s lifeless eyes are really spooky tbh, especially since this is the last time we ever see him if they go by the manga. Rin got a similar treatment in the manga(mind-controlled and then never addressed ever again), but that scene was cut from the anime version.
I waited all day for you to upload this! I refreshed your page at least 10 times since the episode premiered! Lol this was by far the best episode yet.
The extended scene at the end is pretty good. Fits in well that it gives the feeling that Zaraki at least lasted a little while. If it was before the credits, it wouldve made it seem like Kenpachi showing up with 3 corpses was pointless.
Really enjoyed this episode. It just keeps getting better and better each week. Going to be hard if and when it goes on hiatus after episode 13 but I do plan to rewatch it in the meantime.
ah man! this video put a smile on my face. i remember reading the manga and was on the edge of my seat with every chapter. i havent watched anime in almost 10 years. so happy to see someone of my age still invested into the series and doing reviews today. subscribed
The shedding of Genryusai's Haori feels very symbolic, here. He once berated Kyoraku, Kenpachi, and Byakuya for losing their Haori because they symbolize their status as Captains in the Gotei 13, the guardians of the Sereitei. In shedding his own cloak, he is no longer Head Captain Yamamoto. Now, he is just Yamamoto, the cold-blooded killer from a thousand years ago. It's like the scene itself is saying "I'm done playing at being this peacekeeping guardian. You made me angry, and now you will all die."
I shedded a tear watching this episode man. All of the chapters are flooding back and wow! The delivered on this episode. Idk if I’m ready for next weeks episode lmao
This episode was crazy... The flashback with Chojiro's Bankai and how he uses it was soo cool! As Nodt... As stoke the whole episode with his Fear. The cliffhanger has me so bloody hyped for next week's episode. Yamamoto's Bankai will be phenomenal...
Yama was portrayed correctly in this episode, a whirlwind of rage as though he was a force of nature. Shiro Sagisu also does not miss at all. If they nail the Yama vs Yhwach fight I will be satisfied with the first 'season'.
If i remember correctly byakuya own words were used against him. He's now being told that a shiki cannot beat a banki and i believe he told that to Renji in the soul society arc when he try to save Rukia
Omg I love the eerie purple color theyre using for when the Sternritter are using the stolen bankai its aesthetically pleasing and is a nice signifier for what it is ugh I hope that when we see Hyourinmaru the ice is still that eerie color And omfg Genryusai coming in and just deleteing him was soooo much more satifying here and the one liner really hit home when turned around and blasted off sucks that we're going to have to pour one out in about an episode or two
Bleach is legit delivering what fans expected. Which is a hell of a statement, if we think for how much we had waiting for this arc to come off. Even with the poem at the end. I had missed that in the first watch. These guys are legit. Ngl, props to who made this arc
I am so filled with joy that you are enjoying the adaptation! I have loved bleach since back in 2013 and have been watching you since the early days of this channel! Never stop your top tier content
They got As Nodt voice perfect and what they did with Yama and his one liner Sternritter O the Overcooked Also Bleach doing post credit scenes now, I'm loving the stylistic appoach
Imo the best episode so far, in term of direction and pacing it was nearly perfect. If next episode is the same as this one WITH incredible animation, it would be absolutely legendary. This one has a lot of highly detailed shot, the cgi are great but we already know for sure (from leaker and other animator) that next week will probably be the best episode of the season (first part of the arc) some crazy name of the industry will be involved 🏆🎉
Äs Nödt's appearance in 4 and 5 absolutely blew me away - he is terrifying! The voice actor is perfect, along with the artwork of course. Unreal. I am so hyped for this season it's insane. The fact there are younger people getting into Bleach now for the first time because of this arc is just amazing to me, but having a new season after so long is like being a teenager again!
Loved this episode, I think it’s the best one they have dropped so far. I thought it was so awesome to see those added scenes with kenpachi and chojiro, it always gets me so excited to see new content.
I was honestly surprised to see the detail they put into just mutilating Driscoll after they'd psuedo-censored Ayon's death earlier on. Same with Kenpachi vs The Question and the Rotted Rukia Face. They held nothing back this episode and it's awesome!
Lmaoooooo I stopped the video to look for the song for the last 25 minutes only to press play for you to say nightmare thats exactly what it was lol. Its under the Diamond dust rebelion sound track I thought it was part of the SS ost because they used it before taking off in the cannon ball.
another great vid tommo! thank you for putting the bleach content wave on your back and delivering countless hours of entertainment to fans all over the world
Great episode! Was so excited for the moment Yama-jii avenged Chojiro. Also, maybe it's because it's animated but I noticed that both division heads had encounters with battle hungry brawler types at the same time
Really glad they didn't put a filter on As' voice. Handled very professionally and the Seiyuu performance shines. Loved seeing Renji being kicked ACROSS the Seireitei.
Loving all of the additions! And with how fast they're moving through the material, there should be a lot of room for quite a bit more expansions later! I really hope that we get to see Shinji have a decent showing in at least _one_ fight at some point for the anime expanding on/extending fights... that is close to the top of my wish list for the adaptation really. And obviously I hope we find out what Robert and BG-9's Schrifts mean and get to see them actively being used a bit. I personally also really kind of wish we could get some additional cool moments from a few more of the Lieutenants/Lieutenant-level Shinigami as well -- especially Hisagi, Ikkaku, Yumichika, Iba, Rangiku, and maybe even Isane. All of them are all either punching bags or don't get to do anything at all so they're ripe picks to give them a bit of extra fighting time!
As nodt same voice actor as kirito from Sao, inosuke from demon slayer, lubbock from akame ga kill, sora from no game no life, xiao from genshin and many more crazy voice actor.
Absolutely, hands down the best episode of Bleach ever made (so far). Its difficult to say that given how it's a fragment of a larger story but man, there were just **SO** many brilliant moments both bombastic and super subtle. Every frame, every line of dialogue was just Bleach absolutely *PERFECTED* !!

The only thing I miss from the original bleach anime is the effect whenever someone had a huge reiatsu. The way screen would get hazy and the sound effect whenever someone like Yama or Kenpachi would arrive was always epic. When kenpachi showed up with 3 sternritter on his back I wish they would've sensed his reiatsu first
Good point
It's obvious to know that Aizen will 100% have this when he appears.
well no, the reason early bleach did this was to show the superiority and higher level of a character. you wouldn’t see someone like momo or rukia having an intense rieastu that causes others who are superior to feel it so it makes no sense if they did that for Kenny who isn’t on par with Ywach or Juguram.
@@felipez3115 No guarantees
Okay but the Rukia melting scene happened so quickly it was comical.
I kinda chuckled at that part. I felt bad
The fact that they showed Chojiro using his Bankai to strike Yamamoto was surprising.
I had thought that the two had an actual battle with Chojiro only landing the one hit.
But Yamamoto just stood there and let it happen.
As nodt'd voice was so perfect it's scary
The 10 years wait was worth it
This exceeded my wildest expectations for this episode. They nailed this soooo hard ...
one thing i noticed in this episode was how beautiful the lighting and colors were. a lot of negative ive seen about the arc so far was how dark everything is, but during the flashback with yamamoto and sasakibe just looking at the sky and the trees and how bright and vibrant they were shows they can do just as good as good a job on the other end of the spectrum
I’ve been waiting to see your reaction, HAD to know how you’d react mainly to the Byakuya scene because of how important it is to you lol. Can’t wait to watch.
Ahhhh you enjoyed it lol thought you’d think it was a bit rush but the excited everything on this episode so well
*Your bankai...WAS NOT THIS WEAK* !!🔥🔥🔥
As an anime only viewer, I thought this episode was absolutely *riveting*. It's my favorite episode so far! So many intense and epic moments. Can't wait to see what happens next!
This episode was so damn good. Hope everyone is enjoying the Bleach greatness being shown
They got this episode almost completely right on every level, especially Yama-ji entering the battlefield.
@@ExtraVictory Not really? In the manga, Zaraki straight up said he couldn't hear what Berenice was saying due to the Roar.
The moment where Yamamoto kills Driscoll hit hard with the flashback and then Yamamoto giving Sasakibe a farewell was all emotion. Peak episode, 10/10
Honestly, I hope they do it right, the fight scene we've all been waiting for
Banger of an episode! I'm so glad you upload so quickly every week. Makes me rly hype for Bleach again. Thanks for your hard work!
I love how fast-paced it’s been. Really shows how quickly the Quincy created absolute chaos.
Love seeing your live reactions because it reassures that my excitement and awe factor is legit😂 these past 5 episodes have been a freakin dream!!
The brevity of Kenpachi's fight was actually handled well and worked well in the anime, to my surprise
Omg I love the eerie purple color theyre using for when the Sternritter are using the stolen bankai its aesthetically pleasing and is a nice signifier for what it is ugh I hope that when we see Hyourinmaru the ice is still that eerie color And omfg Genryusai coming in and just deleteing him was soooo much more satifying here and the one liner really hit home when turned around and blasted off sucks that we're going to have to pour one out in about an episode or two
The VA for "As Nodt" in Bleach today also voiced Kirito from SAO and Sloth from Re Zero. It's Matsuoka Yoshitsugu
Holy shit he did kirito? That’s fucking awesome
Also Soma from Food wars iirc
I literally only watch ur vids don't ever stop bre ur breakdowns literally brought me back
The As Nodt fight with Byakuya and Meninas reveal gave me chills!
I SCREAMED when Äs spoke. His voice fits perfectly. Can’t wait for next week, I’m very happy with how everything has turned out so far.
They got As Nodt voice perfect and what they did with Yama and his one liner
Sternritter O the Overcooked
Also Bleach doing post credit scenes now, I'm loving the stylistic appoach
Imo the best episode so far, in term of direction and pacing it was nearly perfect. If next episode is the same as this one WITH incredible animation, it would be absolutely legendary. This one has a lot of highly detailed shot, the cgi are great but we already know for sure (from leaker and other animator) that next week will probably be the best episode of the season (first part of the arc) some crazy name of the industry will be involved 🏆🎉
Finally hearing as nodt voice was great and seeing who attacked rukia was interesting
Wait 6 days, and witness what Yamamato is really capable of. Zanka No Tachi will annihilate the internet and every device connected to it.
Yamamoto held nothing back obliterated that guy I love it !!!
Loved this episode, I think it’s the best one they have dropped so far. I thought it was so awesome to see those added scenes with kenpachi and chojiro, it always gets me so excited to see new content.
Truly can’t believe how much this is delivering everything we wanted.
that Flashback man, I wasn't prepared to have feels this week but bro... *BRO*
These episodes are getting better as we go! This is insane how good this arc is.
I was honestly surprised to see the detail they put into just mutilating Driscoll after they'd psuedo-censored Ayon's death earlier on. Same with Kenpachi vs The Question and the Rotted Rukia Face. They held nothing back this episode and it's awesome!
Bro Zaraki ripping out the dudes throat was absolutely metal
Dude the effort they took for this episode! The next episode is going to set ablaze the entire anime community!
Lmaoooooo I stopped the video to look for the song for the last 25 minutes only to press play for you to say nightmare thats exactly what it was lol. Its under the Diamond dust rebelion sound track I thought it was part of the SS ost because they used it before taking off in the cannon ball.
another great vid tommo! thank you for putting the bleach content wave on your back and delivering countless hours of entertainment to fans all over the world
“All Shinjis done in this invasion so far is just run” LMAOOOOO
Shindig getting dunked on again!
Great episode! Was so excited for the moment Yama-jii avenged Chojiro. Also, maybe it's because it's animated but I noticed that both division heads had encounters with battle hungry brawler types at the same time
Mr Tommo i was waiting patiently for ur review and wondered what happened. great review as well
This adaption is doing a really great job of showing how amazing kubo’s art is
I’m glad everyone is loving it so far. For me, it feels a bit like we’re watching on a 2x playback speed. 😅
I kept checking your channel for this upload lol. Figured it was just time to put notifications on
Really glad they didn't put a filter on As' voice.
The way Sasakibe moves his sword through the lightning bolts of his bankai, and seeing then bend like guitar strings looks so satisfying.
Fantastic episode my favorite so far. The flash back with the old man and him just decimating the overkill my god...
I’m still in shock with how good this episode was
Yamamoto's showing this episode was insane and I can't wait to see him more
As nodt same voice actor as kirito from Sao, inosuke from demon slayer, lubbock from akame ga kill, sora from no game no life, xiao from genshin and many more crazy voice actor.
This episode just reaffirms why Yama is one of my all time favourite anime characters.
I think when they showed the flies, i felt them crawling up in my body. did anyone else felt that?
The music fits Yamamoto so well
