One thing the X-Pro line can differentiate itself from other bodies is to add more than 7 custom slots. And those guys at Fuji weekly are doing amazing work. Have had their simulations on my X-T4 for a while now
This is what I called as unique modern product. It's just Fujifilm signature product. Fuji has similarity with Mazda (from automotive world), they make a fun-to-use product with so much manual setting (manual transmission for Mazda) combined by offering the latest well-made tech.
Here's an idea: Use couple of small size card (1GB), label each card with film name and ISO number.. Shoot until you run out of space (just like you shoot film) and if you want to change different film simulation you have to change the card as well. This way you will have similar film experience and all the pictures in one card will have similar style. Because this camera have dual card slot, you can use the second slot to store all the RAW files using larger size card. Another rules you could play with: no change the ISO, no auto, no aperture priority, use manual focus only lastly...don't look at the pictures until the next day, just do something else after you go out shooting, enjoy life.
@@unbroken1010 No, you save the settings on the camera into custom profile which Fuji camera has 7 profiles total..So you have to match the profile with the card, just remember change it every time you put different card.
@@unbroken1010 you can actually backup all of your settings in fujifilm camera using fujifilm x acquire software, it’s free from Fuji. Useful if you have multiple bodies or when upgrade.
Hi Omar. I think maybe your Agfa Vista 100 setting should have used Classic Negative as the base film, not Classic Chrome? I could be wrong, but thought I would mention it just in case.
Omar, 2 important points Richie has mentioned: 1- Some simulation are closer to the real film on the Trans-IV sensor, since there are more setting options to set. So everyone make sure to know which sensor your camera has and chose the settings appropriate to it. 2- If you set the clarity to other than 0, there will be a blackout time to process the jpeg image, so have patience if you want to chimp or want to go burst mode. PS: check out his IR B&W recipe.
I learned about Fuji X Weekly from Andrew's channel during first quarantine of March and along with Omar's videos about X-T20(and later other models as well) they are the 2 best things one can spend time to find out how to use a Fujifilm camera. Omar for setup and info about settings and Richie's site for shooting.
Ive been using fuji X weekly eversince i started shooting film a year ago. imo the best way to experience it is to mount an old vintage lens on your fujifilm to get the full effect.
Hi Omar, if you download Fuji’s free software “Fuji x-Raw studio” you can save these settings into that software. So you can shoot in RAW and then when you get home create some film JPEG’s

Aa long as you have the camera to test out, could you compare the Xpro3 EVF to the X-T3/4 EVF? Would be interesting how you find the difference in same resolution but not the same magnification.
Richie recommends to put the EV setting into the name, due to the fact that you can’t save it in your settings. This way you’re able to see it when choosing your film simulation. It’s easier than looking into the app to check the ev settings.

I do not have the app. But given the recipes published on Ritchie's site, Classic Chrome based recipes are about one third of the total. By the way in this Richie (fujixweekly.com/2021/01/12/top-20-most-popular-film-simulation-recipes-of-2020/) indicates that the most looked for on his site recipes are Classic Chrome based.
@@HenriPierreChavaz I mean, the most popular film recreations are using classic chrome. They're not popular because they use classic chrome. Also, I wasn't looking for black and white which would probably be another chunk of that percentage, and I don't have Classic Neg, which is another chunk. So when you remove Monochrome profiles, and those with simulation that didn't kaizen, that 30% grows a lot bigger. And then also some of the colour socks aren't well known, so how many of those big name, colour, kaizen compatible films use Classic Chrome? My hyperbolic point was that if you go looking for colour, and the most renowned film stocks, you're going to be shooting with Classic Chrome white balance shifted, which doesn't offer as much diversity as if he used another base occasionally. I understand that people like Classic Chrome a lot, but not everyone does, so it would be nice if it wasn't the predominate base for the most popular film stocks. Just changing the base doesn't fix the problem always, and some of them feel like Classic Chrome was forced into the recipe when it could have been more faithful to the tone and saturation of the original film stock with Astia or Provia or even Velvia used as a base, but instead we have a bunch of similarly muddy brown tinted classic chrome variants called nostalgically. For that reason, I don't really come away liking any of them. Plus, Classic Chrome is very distinctive in its palet, so for that reason they just felt like Classic Chrome with a poor white balance. Besides what I liked about shooting these films is their strong distinctive colour balance, and Classic Chrome just doesn't get there to justify such a high percentage.

Haha, can't believe you've only just mentioned the dial direction issue! It's a fuji-ism that has bugged me from years- one of the ones that's never been corrected! It harks back to the original X100 - before the Q menu was introduced but was used "the wrong way" for navigating the menus (I recon it was a toss of the coin by the software engineers). As it is typically easier just to use the D pad to navigate the menus on the X100, I don't think many noticed or cared on the X100 but unfortunately it was then passed down to newer cameras, and it's far more noticeable and annoying on the Q menu.
There is no any issue with direction of the dials. The only is issue is user who can't figure out how to use clock. You have to forget X &Y coordinate system and use counter/clock wise logics. That is also how the screws are working unless you using special screws.
@@eagleeyephoto8715 What you going on about? I have no problem with the dial direction... What I'm on about is if you look down on Fuji X cameras the dials on the right hand side all increase values if you spin them anti clockwise. I believe if you use the rear control dial to adjust aperture on one with out a ring it works the same way (I am questioning myself on that as it's a long time since I've used a lens without aperture ring), if you use rear control dial to change size of focus point or magnification... Anti clock wise increases the setting. But use the Q menu, the direction of the rear control dial is reversed, change a setting using the rear dial and you spin it the opposite way (now effectively clockwise) to increase. It's not the absolute direction that irritates me, more the flip of direction.

COOL!
The only flaw is that wb adjustments is not saved per profile
Are you able to rename the Custom settings and shift the WB Colors on the X-T1? I'm able to do it on the X-T2 but not on the X-T1.
Sadly no
That's really great.... But.... unfortunately not available for the Android system :-(
Their website has all of the simulations listed and you can search via sensor type. You don’t really need the app (perhaps there’s additional features in the app).
I've never been so guilted into hitting that like button :)
heh heh.. thanks
Are there apps like this for other cameras? I’d love to emulate this with my EOS R
No...just Fujifilm...you're going to have to switch. ;)
