I stayed at a British hotel in Thailand to see if it’s worth the visit. We had been living in Thailand for 5 months by this point and at the start of our Chiang Mai adventures, we couldn't help but check this place out.
The Samoeng Loop is one of the best things to do in Chiang Mai: a 100km looped road through the mountains with endless sights to see on the roadside.
It’s an easy, smooth road to drive on - with a whole loop taking only 4-5 hours, so it’s a perfect day trip from Chiang Mai.
We stopped at Wat Ban Pong and found a secret White Pagoda up on the hill, but you probably wouldn’t expect to see our main target of the trip…
Tucked away in a typical Thai village is a place where Brits in Thailand would feel very much at home: The Hillsborough Country House Hotel is a museum of Britishness, where you can eat from a classic British food menu and stay in a British themed hotel room.
So as a Brit myself, I thought it was only right to see how it stacks up against my home country. So if you are looking for day trip ideas from Chiang Mai or just a surreal weekend away - look no further than Hillsborough.

Glad to see you're making content again. When you're in another country and you just need the comfort of home. The hotel had a lot of knickknacks. It almost seemed a little to cluttered.
