@scittb sorry. I just saw your post. I ordered them 2 months ago. I received the kit in about a week. I hope you have them installed by now. The kit works very well and makes my landings much easier.
Just got my v3 gear stiffeners yesterday. Got them put on yesterday. Took Draco out to the flying field today. Wow what a difference. I gave them a beating, They held up perfectly. Now I can fly this plane the way it was designed. Thanks. Great how to video also .
Light aircraft fly better, the more you strengthen any area the more weight and stress other areas, kinda like plumbing repairs, the more you do the more you do, hehehehe
I fully understand that for sure . I am an very experience builder and pilot. This plane is different and comes with less than Lackluster gear. This solves it.
Just finished the repair and got back in the air today. Only issue was the end of the brackets didn’t fit flat on the end of my new carbon landing gear. No fault of the “fix”, there was some slight casting flaw with the new replacement landing gear. I solved this by mixing some micro balloons with the epoxy I placed in the not so flat parts to fill the gap. Worked great, but it did end up being a little thicker than original. I had to grind a little bit of the nut on the outside of the pivot location to get the shocks to fit. Overall a good fix. Thanks!
I hope u love them and share the daylights out of it. Email me and let me know how close the shock mount bolts holes are on your set. I am thinking of not even having them drill the next batch.
Hi Brenden, just received my kit for the upgrade. Watched the video for the repair/support for the landing gear. Followed your steps for the upgrade and no issues. Thumbs up and thanks again!!
@@JustPlaneCrazy so far she has been a Dream. Landing on the runway nice. Gear is nice and tough. Had a rough landing in the grass once and no damage. Another day the wind picked up Draco from the plane stand and she floated up and landed on the ground on her mains. No damage. Whew!
Just installed your mod. Oddly my gear came with 2 screws for the upper cover so removed the upper one based off your suggestion. Thanks for the great mod.
Great video.. looks like a great mod, too. It's hilarious to me that RUclips played a HH Draco commercial while I was watching you describe the manufacturing discrepancies on the HH Draco. Awesome. $650 plane and the screws don't line up. Still a pretty bad ass plane, though. Thanks for the video and mods. 👍
Thanks and don’t forget to share with anyone you know. V3 plates will be here any day and I opted to remove those holes. Drilling those would be required.
Tru. It would help people but this thing will be gone soon anyway I am sure. I wish they would let me test stuff before it comes out. I found this gear sucked on the first flight
I got my Draco today and got the kit installed. I did break one of the brass bushings, and the 21 buck replacement ordered. I managed to get part of it back in jimmied it all together. Just used half of the bushing and 3 washers to fill in the other side. It should work till I get the replacement. Great kit and thx a lot. 👍
Many thanks for the strengtheners. They arrived here in England a few days ago and I've now fitted them. Draco flying well, particularly having added a lot of weight to the tail. Now waiting for a set of Kavan wheels to replace the heavy Dubro set.
Literally just done that myself. The Dubro are so heavy. I skipped buying them and went straight to the Kavan having done some research and finding out about the weight issues
Very detailed and well presented - thanks for the information and good product. One comment regarding the alcohol; the recent shipped Draco has a alcohol soluble finish and it will dull the topcoat. Great job!
Great mod. Just finished installing it and building my Draco. The video made it simple. Even with this mod, the Draco is far from robust and I expect stuff to break. I expect the gear to hold up though!
Just to add my comments to everyone else. Thanks for the quick service with the mod plates. Watched your video and fitted perfectly. All ready to go with a now half decent Undercarriage. Thanks for your work and input on making the Draco a more usable model. Agree with all the comments, shame on Horizon for turning out a very poor U/C system when for such a small cost it could have been so much better. Thanks Brendan. Keep up the good work. Your Plane Crazy logo now on my Draco.
Thanks for the fast shipping and the kit went in without a problem other than one thing. I have epoxy all over my hands and face and it looks like I have been eating glazed donuts...LOL Thanks
I hope you patented this fix and kit, so that next year, when all the Draco's come in with it, you can make a buck off each new model. Rotsa ruck, though, with how the Chi's honor patents. Good job on this. Lots of folks need this fix/kit.
@@JustPlaneCrazy Heck, watch the short takeoffs and landings in the plane's demo vids. Not exactly greased landings every time. The plain simple truth is that the leverage and torque the wheels/axles apply to the carbon-fiber gear's ends abuse those areas plenty. This'll continue to be an issue until the plane's gear is redesigned. 'Til then, Plane-Crazy to the rescue.
I sheared off the brass bolt. I couldn’t get the shock holder on the beefed up landing gear so tried to tighten a bit more and snap it was gone- do you have to buy the whole unit to get the pieces? All I can find is the whole Piece so far?

Hi Just Plane Crazy, I am Linden Stewart from Georgetown Guyana In South America, I received my Draco as a gift From some Kind Loving RC Pilots in the USA, I was looking at your video on the Draco front landing gear Repair, My Question is after you have install the plate kits to the landing Gear, dose this means you will have to push the battery back a little bit more to the back as the plates will add more wight to the front making it a little nose heavy changing the CG?
The 5.5 Dubros from Horizon Hobby. They are heavy as sin. Really throws the cg off. I think you will have this issue with anything similar. Since installing these and my kit I still don’t have any issues. So it would be fine
@@JustPlaneCrazy nice. I'm thinking of getting a Draco so researching reviews on the web. Seen where the gear can't take much side loading. Looks like your straps improves that.
Watched your video. Just a suggestion. Why don't you leave out the two holes in the metal plates since the holes in the gear since they are always in the wrong place. That way you can drill through the gear holes and you won't have two sets of holes in the metal plates. It will save you money and make a better job of the whole thing.
Hi, Great mod. I'm in the UK, have emailed re kit. Has anyone fitted a set of dampers rather than just springs? I picked up a set of Kavan 6"/150mm inflatable tyres with bearings, super light in comparison to the Dubro's may help the gear a little

Yeah. I wish certain things were better for sure. I spent over 100$ twice because I ground looped the plane. Broke the gear shocks and plastic. Not anymore
Anyone got any ideas for wing panels that won't plug in all the way? I just got mine and built it up to the point of trying to install the wings. They won't push into the fuselage enough to align the twist lock things. I've pushed as hard as I dare and it's not the because the carbon tube is too long. I can't even get one side on at first. Very frustrating.
@@JustPlaneCrazy Again, it's NOT the tube, as already explained above. It fits in the fuse and wing panels just fine. The problem is I can't get even one wing panel pushed into the fuse far enough to get the red plastic twist lock things in. As hard as I dare to push without breaking things, about a 1/4 inch gap remains. I don't even know if the servo/lights plugs are engaging because I haven't set up the radio yet. The clamping pressure helps to join the halves. The new v3 plates do not have the upper holes. You drill to match

If 90% of the time you will have to drill new holes, why not just leave the plate blank except for the axle hole?
That way there isn't multiple holes.
Version 3 plates are made with just the one axle hole. You drill the others. They have been this way for a few months now.
Any chance you’d post to Oz?
