The Church of the Holy Sepulchre is one of the holiest and special sites in Christianity. Located in the Christian Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem, the church is home to two of the holiest sites in Christianity - the site where Jesus was crucified, known as Calvary, and the tomb where Jesus was buried and then resurrected. Today, the tomb is enclosed by a shrine called the Aedicula. The final four Stations of the Cross, or Via Dolorosa, are also located inside the church.
The New Testament tells that Jesus was crucified at Golgotha, “the place of the skull”. This is commonly thought to be an area of stone quarries outside the city’s walls at the time. Around a decade after Jesus’s crucifixion, a third wall was built to enclose the area of his execution and burial within the city. This provides validation for the Holy Sepulchre’s location inside today’s Old City of Jerusalem.
After he had a vision of a cross in the sky in 312 AD, Constantine the Great converted to Christianity and sent his mother, Empress Helena, to Jerusalem in search of Jesus’s tomb. She found a relic of the cross near a tomb, leading her to believe she had found Calvary. In 326 AD, Constantine ordered a church built at the site. All the soil and debris over the centuries was removed from the cave, revealing a rock-cut tomb identified as the burial site of Jesus.
The Church now stands over the two holy sites. The great basilica or Martyrium encloses the traditional site of Calvary in one corner. Across the way the Anastasis (“Resurrection”) encloses the cave tomb of Jesus’s burial. The church was finally consecrated on September 13, 335 AD. The wooden doors of the church’s main entrance are still the original doors from 326 AD. This puts into perspective the ancient grandeur of this holy church.
Inside the church entrance, a stairway leads up to Calvary (Golgotha), the site of Jesus’ crucifixion and the most extravagantly decorated part of the church. The exit from this site is down another stairway that leads to the ambulatory.
Calvary is two chapels, one is Greek Orthodox and the other is Catholic. The Greek Orthodox chapel’s altar is over the rock of Calvary, also the 12th Station of the Cross. You can touch the rock through a special hole in the floor beneath the altar. Be ready to wait in line as this is one of the main reasons people visit the church. You can also see the rock through the protective glass on both sides of the altar. In between the Catholic and Greek altars, a statue of Mary marks the 13th Station of the Cross.
Inside the church’s entrance is the Stone of Anointing, believed to be where Jesus’s body was prepared for burial. The modern mosaic along the wall depicts the anointing of Jesus’s body. Lamps with candles and incense hang along with an ornate stand over the stone.
AEDICULE
The Crucifixion Altar Church of the Holy Sepulchre
The Aedicule is a small chapel housing the Holy Sepulchre. It has two rooms - one holds the Angel’s Stone, believed to be a fragment of the stone that sealed Jesus’s tomb, the other is the tomb of Jesus. After the 14th century, a marble plaque over the tomb now protects it from further damage caused by flocks of pilgrims.
The Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, and Armenian Apostolic all have rightful access to the interior of the tomb, and all three hold Holy Mass there daily. Between May 2016 and March 2017, the Aedicule underwent painstaking restoration and repair after the structure to make the structure safe for visitors again.
Admission to the church is free and visitors of all religions are welcome. We highly recommend modest dress.

It's better to travel to Israel than any other place that you spend money.

Zahi, you are proving a gift to me! I have been a full-time carer for my father these past 12 years. He is 99 years of age and has dementia. As a consequence, I have been able to travel. I have not been overseas since 2006, the year following my mother's death. So greatly, I live vicariously through the lives of others all the while trying to retain my own identity through the gift of creation and writing Music and Words. At this most holy time of year, I appear to be living vicariously through you and your work, the Life of Christ you bring to the world as something actually more than an Israeli tour guide, rather as a humanitarian. I. do not know when I would be able to travel again. But come the day I do, I would love to visit Jerusalem and go to Gethsemane. Whether such a day comes to pass or not, please know you have at least brought it to me. I am grateful! Very grateful! Blessings!

At 6:00 in video, *Zahi* you mentioned what you should do in the future. Do what you love to do, what you feel in your heart and soul. Personally, I, honestly feel, and that of what I love, is how much you mean to everyone here. How many people you reach that has a lot of meaning in these videos, to reach those out in the world that are unable to visit, but are able to visit in spirit through your videos.
You have a beautiful heart and soul and feel that how much your channel has grown with and from Devine love, that the Lord has chosen you to do something not only great, but truly magnificent and wonderful.
All you have done since starting this channel has been so special, and you can do both, if you choose to, but it may be a lot to do, exhausting too, or you can also combine the two. You can maybe use a GoPro with a chest harness or head camera, and record your private tours, and then, it can be special for not only those who take your tour that they can always rewatch and remember their special day. For tours would be unedited too, maybe, but also, those videos can also have an impact for those of us who watch your videos from wherever we’re all are. Of course people would have to agree on the tours and be advised you would record tours etc. would this even out having both, running tours and then making your special videos like you have been making? Just remember to follow your heart and what you love doing. The Holy Spirit is always with you in guidance 🙏
I know I love watching, and yes very occasionally will comment like I’ve mentioned long ago, but always “like” 👍 all that I’ve watched. Sometimes I rewatch certain videos more than a few times, and have saved some of my most cherished videos in a playlist so I can find those videos I really enjoyed and felt very blessed to have watched easily accessible to see again.

The answer to your issue is yours to decide as to which is bringing you the greater joy. I think that people would benefit from your being a tour guide and then you can add some videos from time to time; but I am thankful for this tine during covid that you brought many of the things to our attention who have never been able to see them face to face! Hello, I was there in 2019, a quick in & out. What I wonder is I thought the tomb was inside of a hill or mountain? Was the tomb built in a clear landscape? How long did it take for a church to be built around it? Is it the actual tomb of Jesus even thou, I know it was donated by Joseph of Arimathea to Jesus?

...is there any information about timeline orher than...died Friday noon. At Sunrise Sunday, Mary finds tomb empty. Did he awake at midnight Sat/Sunday. I know there is mention of him appearing to Peter, etc. Was that on Sunday or later in the week. ?
The Bible assumes the readers follow timeline as instituted at creation; "..He called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and morning were the first day" Gen 1:5 So according to scripture a day starts in the evening not at midnight six hours later as instituted during Roman empire. Regarding Good Friday when Jesus died on the cross the Bible says, "That day was Preparation, and the Sabbath drew near" Lk 23:54. It means evening was approaching and therefore another day.

Be an online tour guide - online videos, virtual walks, perhaps author some books with photography - sell on amazon as an independent author, have a blog and monitize everything. Also, perhaps services for gift store etc prize give aways. What you do now, make it your own business. or even, casual/seasonal tour guiding or PT tour guiding. What you do is amazing and I think you certainly need to follow your heart but if you're a but torn, perhaps a 3rd solution, a combination of both.? :)
