- Has fashion changed Formula 1? Gone are the days of F1 drivers wearing F1 team kit to the track. Nowadays F1 drivers fashion is an important part of every day of a Grand Prix weekend. Lewis Hamilton’s Fashion is still the stand out but other F1 drivers are starting to stand out.

If someone came to your job and said, we will pay you 100K to walk down the hallway into your office for at least 10 minutes in our designer brand and get photographed, who would be dumb enough to say no? As dumb as I think some of the outfits look, I think, these guys have just made more than some people make in a couple years working 9-5 for 15 minutes "of work," at each track.

@@1bluensx I believe it is contracted between drivers and teams, when and where they must wear the kit. When drivers have agreed upon time when they can wear anything they want - they are free to express themselves. E.g. I think Hamilton is a prolific fashion enthusiast, but he always wears the kit in press conferences and interviews on the paddock (same for other fashion leaning F1 drivers), so I think there is no disrespect between drivers and their teams.

I’ve been interested in the combination of cars, art, and fashion for a long time. For instance I love when certain designers even redo the interior of a car for a collab (for instance, Aimé Leon Dore and Porsche). I’m really surprised someone like Ralph Lauren, who clearly has a huge interest and cars and racing, doesn’t sponsor a racing team or design racing suits and other related clothing (to my knowledge). Even though it’s not my particular style, I do like how creative Lewis and others can be at times. I even liked his recent outfit from the Met Gala a lot. Just like with driving itself, it’s a great way to express yourself.

@6:15 Lewis has basically been a professional fashion model for the last 6 years or more. Part of being a fashion model is wearing really out there stuff, especially at the highest levels.

I’m into more cool fits in the paddock. Whether it’s Dior or racing kit, it’s all an insight into the personality of the driver, and that can only be a good thing. LH has some out there fits but some look sick. Leclerc has some nice fits too but the baggy light wash denim is tragic

Unsavoury folk have robbed teams on the way into and out of the track in the past. Best not to identify as anything to do with F1.

I bought a gray hat on the 1st go round. I wasn't sure if it was going to look right on me. Turns out it did. Therefore, I ordered a teal one this time. Missed out on the discount but, meh, I'm just happy I'm going to have two Kym Illman bucket hats!

Anybody screaming woke forgets how long Beneton was on the grid. In fact, Verstappen‘s father got his start in a Beneton car. One has to imagine that perhaps his adverse reaction to fashion might have something to do with that.

Ha how is wearing a Red Bull kit in Brazil a security risk when literally tens of thousands of people are wearing the same kit?
I'm not interested in fashion, that's not why I follow F1. I don't mind it, it's up to those interested to care. But, I am an old grumpy bloke who hopes the fashion thingy doesn't overshadow the actual sport someday.
It won't. When the lights go out the only thing that matters is the race.
It only overshadows the racing if you care about it more then the racing.
Why would it overshadow? Pretty much the only to see the fashion part is if you actively look for it online. And it's not even part of the event. It's just some picture of the dude going to the event.
@@langbuddha2798 what I mean is, if more new fans are more interested in fashion, then Liberty Media may create more "fashion orientated events". I'm sure that the "old" fans will keep focusing on the sport, but if the total fan base shows more interest in fashion, it may have an impact on the whole F1 Circus .

Lewis may have a stylist but he has more business advisors, and they maximise any opportunity to increase his wealth, simple as that.
Being a top-tier sportsman has only one inevitable outcome, early retirement. You have to maximise your time in the spotlight before it's over.
Maybe, no certainty I move in different circles. I never see any of these outfits out in the real world. Keep up the great work!

I’ll never get over people calling fashion woke. It’s ironic that the people who accuse others of being triggered are the most easily triggered. Kind of how homophobes are more concerned with what gay men do behind closed doors and the gay men themselves 😂 Like let Lewis wear whatever the fuck he wants, if you don’t like it just ignore it. No one is forcing you to watch him. It’s so strange to me that people feel entitled to tell others to dress according to arbitrary societal conventions and think that a weird shirt makes someone a diva or arrogant… very odd.

What happened to lewis’s piercing jewellery collection, which was soo popular? I recently tried some of McLaren brand clothing.....sadly it was not cut correctly or functionally useful the two key components for higher sales volume......will Adrian actually launch a new oyster line of nautical clothing or just where Ferrari or Williams gear ?
While I've purchased mclarens t shirts, hoodie, cap, rain jacket, it was expensive to get the ones with their sponsors on it, I've found it all to be completely comfortable and worthy of said price, if takes washing and drying like a champ if you wash it and dry it correctly, cold water only in washer and 60 minutes on the dryer timer on low heat, no worries of shrinking , and if that was a worry just dry it first by itself on said dryer settings first before washing and it won't shrink or have any issues, I've purchased NBA clothing that I've had to dry first to make sure it didn't shrink before washing, so once I get it I dry it before wearing, then wash it after wearing it just to make sure it didn't happen and it made it more comfortable as doing the drying first. Just a heads up. If yours don't have the sponsors on it you can get it more expensive at a r retail type website that sells every different teams kit and different things like NBA, NFL, F1, soccer or football whichever part of the world you're from names it's categories. I've forgotten the website but I'm sure it's easy to find if mclarens come without sponsors I dunno, I had an issue getting to pick USA at the time so I looked elsewhere before contacting them and they told me how to find it with it missing from the normal pull down menu for some reason or another, I can't remember now this was at least 6 months to a year ago and I've forgotten more important info like fathers day yesterday for instance because I'm partly handicapped and have the placard and license plates for parking before I quit driving all together since it stresses me out how other people drive and it's given me a seizure and I created into a telephone pole at 45mph which was not fun to come back together from having all the airbags that went off and had burned me in different places but protected me from further damage to myself like whiplash or further injuring my back or knees.

(Kidding of course) but he pays per item to a trusted member or friend, so he doesn't necessarily have to watch over it while continuing to work on being able and ready when the car is to battle max consistently, while that is already there now of course, but I'll expect next upgrade will unlock more potential and allow him to do his best to battle and WIN consistently, he gave up being a dj which he loved but like he's said many times it's a night job and he needed to give it up to focus on his day job which is of course F1, which is why he decided to shut down rumors of a red bull change quicker than he needed to, just so the factory doesn't have to worry about their experienced driver having rumors anymore so they can unlock performance in the car and fix its weaker points. Cheers not looking for an argument at all, just wanted to post facts that you might not know.

So much of what they wear is overprices “fast fashion” that the drivers don’t pay for and that QUICKLY is out of style. Most people don’t wear many of these outfits in the “real world.”
