candy and levy are both so talented. sctv was way ahead of its time. only the best comedians were part of that special show. wish they would play reruns.
I was there at the Dingus day celebrations in Buffalo NY when Yosh had his tragic accident. He went into a clarinet solo on "Safety Dance" and this group of polish grandmothers rushed the stage and completely ravaged poor Yosh. By the time they were able to bring out the fire hoses to fend them off, there was very little left.
You know, I subscribe to both "Polka Monthly" and "According to Accordions" and have never heard of this incident. So either there's a coverup by the mainstream Polka press (cite your sources, please) or, and it hurts me in my pierogies to say it, you're just a dirty, frikkin' liar! Shut your damn mouth! Let's just say I'm "aware" of the Polka Mafia and leave it at that. You can't mess with our $1B cash cow and not expect push back. SHUT YOUR UGLY BRAIN HOLE!
That Lutonia has the best pyrogies in the world. Just ask Mrs. Krozuvetskaya. Good holopschi too! Blueberry cordial so much better than the coffee, too.
The Schmenges' other shows? "De Heppy Vanderers" and also, "A Leutonian Christmas": "Uncle Stosh arrives Christmas morning, bringing de Christmas egg. De Christmas egg symbolizes de Christmas breakfast. Denn all de men go into de living room and exchange socks"
RIP Yosh...Did you know that the artificial Christmas tree was invented in Lutonia? Its true, trees went extinct in Lutonia and they had to come up with something to put gifts under at Christmas time.
There was love here, rarely if ever to be found on TV now. Dave was hip back then, and we watched his show all the time back then. And how bout those Shmenges, eh?
Agreed. Mark Russell is very witty and an equal opportunity offender. I was always amazed at how he stood out there all by himself and performed such a complex act.
It's apparent we're on the same page. The only political performer I can think of offhand whom I like is Mark Russell. He's not only screamingly funny but he's an equal-opportunity satirist. EVERYONE gets nailed.
I think we all got the hint a long time ago. If you work in the the entertainment industry you are not only likely to be a hardcore lefty but we the audience will have to made aware of it as if to enlighten. I guess it's fortunate that I have very little time for TV or movies anymore for it seems most of the buisness had become a crude, overly politicised disaster.
Improv genius. Eugene Levy is SO underrated.
By who?
Schitts Creek was wildly popular and made him known among younger viewers not familiar with SCTV.
Two of the funniest men ever. I don't know how any of them are keeping a straight face.
candy and levy are both so talented. sctv was way ahead of its time. only the best comedians were part of that special show. wish they would play reruns.
Can watch on you tube. SCTV has a channel
They are (John & Eugene) awesome. Both deserve for the Oscar. I miss you John Candy. Regards from your fan from Poland. Michael.
Hey, Poland! Say hi to Lutonia from Canada!😁
"I needed some time to find myself, but I did, I did, find myself and I was right where I thought I was."
Love the Plattsburgh reference! "Wanted to do something for the kids!"
Thank you for the cabbage rolls and coffee.
I can imagine the young Sacha Baron Cohen glued to the T.V. set watching this...
That lying communist ?
Some great improv here people. Funny all the way around even Dave gets in on the fun.
Improv? That was rehearsed.
John: you don’t want to deal with scandals
David 30 years later in a middle of a scandals....should’ve listened to John David 😂😂
Aww John... I just want to give him a hug
Latonia...the dark side of the Balkans. Hahaha!

Brilliant!
brilliant , even Dave has a blast
These two characters should have been made into a full length film.
I believe there is a movie with them, but I can't think of the name of it. It was great.
1:33 is hilarious! Levy was the best. Huge talent.
I want one of those Strikes Spares and Shemges bowling shirts.
I had 7 of them made for me. I ordered bowling shirts as close as possible to the same colours and then had each one engraved exactly like this one.

"That's a lots of polka."
SCTV was my Sesame Street.
Awesome!! Great work, guys!
RIP Yosh...Did you know that the artificial Christmas tree was invented in Lutonia? Its true, trees went extinct in Lutonia and they had to come up with something to put gifts under at Christmas time.
That is very fascinating fact about Lutonia and loss of all its trees!
I miss John...
Absolute Genius!!!
It's crazy to think John has been dead for 26 years... and Eugene has starred in every American Pie (I think).
They were both great.
1:51 "Too enormous to mention" 🤣
"Have you guys had those things on your faces checked?"
There was love here, rarely if ever to be found on TV now. Dave was hip back then, and we watched his show all the time back then. And how bout those Shmenges, eh?
Amazing!
The best!
Thanks for the video!
Letterman, in his less political days was actually quite enjoyable and this is really fun to watch with some masters having a goofy time.
Brilliant!
I am liking this much ,very more
Ah man those were the days !
good old days : )
I wonder if Dave ever wears his Shmenges bowling shirt? lol
I love polka music
I miss John candy

I got a great DVD of The Schmenges (The Last Polka) from movielead
Brilliant, used to love SCTV. Mmm mmmm good.
Yash is having his cabbage rolls and coffee up there in Heaven, ya
Levy is brilliant
That's a lotta polka
Eugene Levy is a fucking comedy genius.
I would kill for that shirt.
@donatospoony Not sure about DVD but I have a copy on VHS. I'd look around online. Probably be able to find it somewhere.
Cabbage Rolls and Coffee. Funny movie.
The Great Schmenges warts and all!
Did you see him and John Candy in ARMED AND DANGEROUS? Or in CLUB PARADISE?
Great example. I logged some serious hours listening to his LP's before he went off the rails.
omg, hilarious
I think their version of Pet Sounds was even better than their White album.
From the ladies auxiliary.
My Favs***
Were the Schmenges jackin the Lemon Twins at this time ?
Please don't say that. This is a scandal ridden culture already, I'm still trying to deal with Jeffrey Toobin.
Classic
@kullprit -- Levy was actually very good in that movie he did with Steve Martin and Queen Latifah.
Hilarious
I got a great DVD of this from movielead
Couldn't agree more...maybe he caught it from George Carlin. :(
Hahaha!
yes, and they're soooo good mmm mmm
Pee Wee Herman Got the Gig

Did they know the MacKenzie brothers?
Dave Thomas lived near Eugene Levy back in high school.
Proto-Borats.
Nah they are the successors of Latka.
I wish I could believe it was just for ratings. :(
Who said racisms can't be funny.
There is a light side of The Balkans?
Dont make them like this anymore
Borat!

Jesus, what a pill you were 6 years ago. Still watching Fox and feeling angry?
I wish that was true.
Makes Letterman unfunny
Letterman sucks as usual, but the Shmenges are great...
Brilliant, used to love SCTV. Mmm mmmm good.
