Late comment to the party, but seeing the Enterprise that your dad did which inspired you to start modeling was like a blast from the past for me. Not only did my dad also get me into model building, but your dad's paint and construction of that old-school Enterprise-A looks almost EXACTLY like the one I built 30+ years ago using the exact same paint colors he did (all per the manual!) and with only hand-painting with brushes. The crudeness was unavoidable, and it's really a testament to how far the hobby has come since then, especially with RUclips and the amount of resources people have to draw on for techniques. Back in the days when your dad and I built kits, all we had were the manuals and maybe a modeler's magazine. It's so great to see what people are capable of these days.
This kit has been sitting on my shelf for over a year now. I'm almost too afraid to put it together if i is the right kind of love you see here. beautifully done, Otaku.
Hi Otaku (Mr Otaku?) Impressive work. I used to make plastic models when I was 8 years old. I stole 50 pence (UK) from my step mother to buy a model and some glue and sit on the side of the road building with no tools. I couldn't make them at home for obvious reasons... I am now 60 and am busy buying all I need to get back into the hobby. The models I have collected, but, not built yet include Bandai's perfect grade Millennium falcon, this kit you have just magnificently built, it's matching 1/350 Klingon D7 and a lot of others. I hope to learn from people like you and live long enough to build these magnificent kits. Thank you for the inspiration!

Yes! Glen and company are the best! Before moving from LA a little over a year ago, my friend Louis and I had a weekly ritual where we'd head over to the House of Hobbies after lunch at Islands. The folks at BHoH are great. And great build on the Enterprise.
I was going to watch something spooky before bed because it's October, but I wound up watching your spooky good skills instead. Yes, I hit the subscribe button. I've been watching TrekWorks for many, many years, and I'm surprised that I only just now discovered your channel.
Very nice work man. I enjoyed the whole hour. I used to build these kits as a kid but after I moved away from home as a young adult I had no time for them. When I was a kid _my_ dad came home with an OS-Enterprise (the only Trek the world had yet experienced) because he knew that Star Trek was SO important to me . I had a more than casual exposure to Scale Modeling because of my FANATIC _LOVE_ for Aircraft Scale Modeling (dad was an Air Force SAC Flight Officer ... ) so I was prepared to *DO this* - at a proficiency level that set me apart from my buds who were also fans . I DID the included lighting effects , even tho I was the only one of my friends to take it that far . The results - for the day - were EXCELLENT even _with_ the use of ALL hand-painting , where necessary . Your skill and attention to the modeling process in dealing with the details are amazing. I hope you added a fuse on your power line in to protect all your led work.
The patience and commitment to both construct this and document the process must have been tremendous. The result on both ends is absolutely brilliant. When you showed your dad's model, I was suddenly 30 years younger, building and painting a similar one with my Aunt. Thanks so much for bringing us along for the ride.
Another great build Otaku. As someone who you got in to the hobby, thank you! Started with a simple HG Leo (still one of my fav kits! the simplicity is just nice) and now I have built the MG Wing Zero Custom Ver Ka, working on a MG Deathscythe Hell Custom with Heavy Arms and Epyon on deck, getting ready for my two most difficult builds, the archangel from Gundam Seed, which I am learning to air brush for, and then the MGEX Strike Freedom. Great build you have there, and excellent video production value to your presentation here. You've convinced me I have to get my first Enterprise build from the late '70s (1/537, what may be left of it) out of storage before I attempt to record a 1/350 build. You bring a wonderful story in these two chapters. I picked up a 1/350 refit in the summer of 2021, and have dabbled some on the interiors with scratch-building but have extra pieces to do that with. I expect my build to take much more time than yours especially considering the time already, and I'm still in the gathering stage as I tinker with interior things to add to the build. Love the nod you give to the model shop, because quality shops are getting fewer and further apart and are such a valuable resource for all the little things. Sure, you can get pretty much everything online but there's a whole depth of experience in those hobby stores where, like here, you can get ideas and wisdoms from a random contact, store clerk, or display, that can take a build in incredible directions than you had thought of previously. Thanks
This was a great series on a great build but the end really got me. My Dad made me, if not the exact same kit, than the same model of the refit Enterprise in the same scale. It looked very similar to yours, very basic but nice. It hung from fishing string in my bedroom for years until it fell and was broken. I wish I'd been able to fix it, I'd love to have it. After about a 20 year hiatus, I picked up the hobby again and my first build was the Polar Lights 1/1000 scale refit Enterprise which I did as the 1701-A. Great work on a beautiful model!
Wow. Very impressive, love the Aztecs done in the shimmer colours. That Enterprise nr the end of the video, that your father gave you - I have the exact same one from many many years ago - no airbrushing or high grade masking stuff then. As you said, it was a steady hand, and LOTS of time spent pulling my hair out and retouching areas. Also have the Enterprise D with a crappy glass bulb (rice grain size) that really needs pulling apart (that's gonna be 'interesting'), and LEDs fitted instead. You've given me the incentive to completely redo it. New lighting and shimmer paint aztecs. Should only take about a year 😉🤣🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖
Amazing build and thanks for sharing your journey on how you got into model kit building. Your channel helped me pick up gunpla building and painting again after a 15 year hiatus. I always look forward to your content.
Superb, it takes skill and patients (both of which I do not have) to make a model to this standard. I'd love to be rich enough to pay someone to build it for me. 👌
It was well worth the wait !!!!! She turned out better than Scottie could have imagined. The amount of love shows in your work. Keep at it my man, stay well !!!!!! Till the next one.
Amazing! I just ordered a model and I'll embrace the challenge of being so focus on detail as you are. At the end when you said it took you 4 months showed me I'll be in the right track. Think through every step, test, sleep and no rush. I'll leave you with the words of Admiral McCoy "You treat her like a lady, and she'll always bring you home"
Super fantastic build my friend. I too am building my 1:350 Refit, nearly done. I know how this build can be so to those who never built a 1:350 Enterprise Refit...do your research on the ship and colors and make sure you have all the supplies needed and most importantly take your time and if you make a mistake, walk away and come back with fresh eyes and a rested mind after all it's just plastic and it can be fixed...ask me how I know lol
This was really beautiful. I understand the desire to maintain a positive legacy. It really speaks to me. Passing on something that brought you so much joy shared with your parents in your youth. I started young as far as parenthood goes. I have three beautiful kids and at 30, my oldest will be seven soon. It's surreal. Only in recent years did I really dive headfirst back into stuff I really loved as a kid. Collecting toys and now I like building model kits. I want to preserve it and pass it on to my little ones while I can.
I see you running power cables through what looks like a random set of holes in the top of the engineering section, and I'm thinking, "Bro, what are you doing?" But then I remembered the neck would be going there... :P
When you first started posting pictures of this build on Instagram I knew it was going to be something special and you knocked it out of the park. The details are perfect, the lines are crisp, and everything looks amazing! Also congrats on passing 50k subscribers, that's great to see. Your videos got me into gunpla modeling back in 2020 and it's been such a rewarding and fun hobby that I can't thank you enough for what you do. Looking forward to what the future brings for you, keep up the amazing work!!
Normally I dont post comments but. Early this year I lost my grandmother to cancer. She got me into star trek at quite a young age with the films from the motion picture to nemesis. I'll always be glad to have seen a glimpse of what could one day become fact. Despite everything wrong with our world I hope that one day we can finally see past our differences. Put racism and prejudice in the past where it belongs and live together and strive to better ourselves every day. All it takes is a few good people to guide us to the stars. (Side note. I never expected to type all that at 2am)
The enterprise looks gorgeous and so does the one your father built for you. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I'd love to get into model building but the price is a massive barrier for me.
Just came across this, and an amazing video and commentary. And the Lighting kit is so subtle but so spot on compared to what other people... it's simple amazing.
Thank you so much for the kind compliment. I really like making starship video builds. Unfortunately they don't do well on youtube. But that's still not going to stop me😊👌🏾
I watched both the videos from Beginning to end. I enjoyed it very much. I do both star trek and gunpla models also. I'm still a novice. But I would love to watch you do Enterprise - E
You could always use 2 mm tower (or "lighthouse") LED's to get a kind of spotlight on a certain area easier than the method you were using. They have a variety of colors and you can get them in either clear or diffused. They're great for putting a light spot right where you want it.
Congratulations! I think we’re of a similar age, and your story reminded me a bit of my own. I low see you build Star ships on the channel, so I hope you continue. Amazing job BYW
Just discovered your channel. Amazing work. You are an inspiration on so many levels. Keep up the excellent work. Oh, and for the record, if you had kids this particular model would have taken you a year+.
Hi , new subscriber here from Australia I must say good work on the refit well done indeed , however there have been a lot of upgrades to this ship have a look into a company called Shapeways your virtually getting a lot of the interior all in 3D parts of fine plastic bridge interior included , next is a company called ETSY they sell a lot on this ship including transperinces of the crew quarters from the out side & hard to get decals on some ships , finally Marshall Models he does a corrected version of this ship in 1 / 350 scale also the Reliant in the same scale with both detailed hangar bays , but the big news is he does a 1/650 Sovereign class ship detailed . as a side note the owner has the studio refit you can see it here on you tube under Marshall Models ..it's up to you .
That model turned out amazing that would be so cool to have sitting on a desk in your room at night
The USS Enterprise refit was the starship that got me into Star Trek and became my first model kit. Long live the name Enterprise

Just beautiful!
Awesome build, well done
Gorgeous. Nicely done.
That's a beauty! I have this kit in the box, lit the 1000 scale version. Going to build one more 1000 scale before I tackle my 350. Great video
That's impressive!
But that's still not going to stop me😊👌🏾
Wow amazing work, both the build and video 👍👍, the refit Enterprise is the holy grail of all sci fi ships in my opinion.
I watched both the videos from Beginning to end. I enjoyed it very much. I do both star trek and gunpla models also. I'm still a novice. But I would love to watch you do Enterprise - E

The final result is amazing :)
Great build! Very inspiring.
amazing work, the love, energy and attention to detail really shows through in the end. What a great series! Well done! Can't wait to see what's next.
Beautiful job!!! I’m building and lighting a Polar Lights 1/1000 refit and hope it mite kind of look like yours! Lol 👍🙋♂️🖖🏻
Tremendous effort and most inspirational, thanks man 🙏 it looks amazing!!!!
Thank for watching
Great job!
Your work is stunning!
Thank you so much!
Loved the music too!
Excellent job!
Such an epic project, great work!
Thank you so much dude!
You’ve inspired me now I want to do that model just like you did
You could always use 2 mm tower (or "lighthouse") LED's to get a kind of spotlight on a certain area easier than the method you were using. They have a variety of colors and you can get them in either clear or diffused. They're great for putting a light spot right where you want it.
Holy shit man the finished model looks absolutely gorgeous. Amazing job. You are a big inspiration for myself and im sure for many others.
🙏🏽🦊💙
Congratulations! I think we’re of a similar age, and your story reminded me a bit of my own. I low see you build Star ships on the channel, so I hope you continue. Amazing job BYW
It looks awesome.
Just discovered your channel. Amazing work. You are an inspiration on so many levels. Keep up the excellent work. Oh, and for the record, if you had kids this particular model would have taken you a year+.
Wow bro. Great job!!
Beautiful!😮🎉
