I especially hate this - I live in the area and was born way after this demolition. I wish they'd kept them as a reminder of the first industrial scale nuclear reactor in Britain. I really wish they'd kept Calder Hall.
@trevenman the secondary loop cools the reactor, but you still need cooling water and a tower to disperse the heat from the gas through a heat exchanger. the reactor temp has to go somewhere!
only the primary cooling loop and the core (and its contents such as the nuclear fuel) is radioactive. The cooling towers are secondary cooling loops. Sometimes they are the third circut in the cooling loop. No radiation ever, unless something has gone seriously wrong. The only thing thats gone wrong at this location is at the plutonium processing plant when pile 1 caught fire in the 50s. It was known as windscale back then.
Chernobyl was an explosion of an active nuclear power plant. This from what i understood, is a powerplant which had been shut down for quiete a while and i'm pretty sure everything toxic was taken care off (
This happens if vertical support is removed, they go down smoothly. If there is resistance it slows down just like here before they hit the ground. But what happend on 9/11? Physics changed?
To me Cooling towers signals a management failure. Why waste heat in a cooling tower when it can be put to good use heating the neighbouring homes and provide plenty hot water. A well planned and executed implementation of this can cause a coal or gas fired power plant to reach an energy utilisation efficiency rate in the 95-98% range.
I do not wish to know what song it is. In fact I do not wish to hear the damn song at all! Why do some people insist on providing "musical accompaniment" to these dramatic videos?!
Thank you, also available in HD if any viewers are interested
That's amazing how those towers just ripple and collapse. Nice video.
cooling tower dust, don't breathe this!
(anyone who has seen "Will it Blend" knows what im talking about)
I just like the way they seem to fold in on themselves
The high-speed shots are nice.
A lot of history was lost with this demolition :(

WHY would someone want to remove all of that beautiful, brutal piece of architecture?
This was very well made! ;)
Cool Video !
Even coal fired plants use this type of tower occasionally. They always make me think of Homer Simpson....

THATS THE LAST TIME LOUSY BURNS SENDS ME TO CLEAAN UP CRAP IN THE TOWERS...Homer J Simpson.. hehehee
thought this was pavarotti's cremation and the furnace couldnt cope (joking)great vid
I like the way they collapsed. Like creased paper towers.
@Fizzydog77
You missed my point, i was not comparing structures i was comparing physics.
so awesome! looks like paper ;)
Demolish the whole Sellafield site.
That would be a great piece of news.
yeah thats cool ! :D
september 29th 2007. the day i turned 20!
There was a VIBRATION!!
i wonder how old that smoke in there is
the cooling towers looks like waffles
LOL

zomg it was controlled demolition!
this music is more intense than the video
i was there coz my dad works at sellafield obviously not in sellafield but my god it was awesome im from shap near penrith were u from?
Nuclear Power Plants: Bringing a New Meaning To "Ima Go Chernobyl on Yoo Ass!"
This will soon be happening to the cooling towers at Tinsley
lol the way io was reading this i was lol..w.e doesnt matter how old ya are..its how smart u are unlike bayern321

@yellowmetalcyborg most likely the sound was synced afterwards.
@Matu1 You cannot compare hollow, brick cylinders to rectangular, super-huge steel skyscrapers. You just cannot.
whats the music called during
GDI advanced powar plant destroyd. Mission accomplished XD
it would be strange if this was you working area.. working there every day, give it a sec: gone.
No, they are just the cooling towers were they cool down water.
This is what like to see
So... did Hommer push the wrong button...?
whoopte-freakin-doo!
yay for paper explosion!!!
It reminds me of WTC Building 7 falling because of the fire.
What are cooling stations made of?
Nice and clead detonation. Hardly any dust cloud.
They looked like a blanket of bricks when they fell!
Good luck framing that wide of a shot with pan & scan.
lol homer pushed the wrong butten and made the cooling towers become tinfoil
:D
Why did they do that?
I thought it was cool how it buckled under its own weight after it started to fall.
Whats the song called?
it's a start.
The slow mo at 2:20 seconds looks like they'r under water
@jeremyc311709 why?
I havent seen it... :|
They look like paper cups lol
This looks familiar for some reason...I just can put my finger on it.
The slow mo at 1:25 seconds looks like they'r under water....DOH
This is real. I know for a fact that these cooling towers were imploded.
Sauber!
Did you see those birds? xD
@flatbranch1 Because some use a different way of creating power.
Split Second in real life?
@LukeNAESA10 Really?? :o didnt knew that!
Guess what I was just picking my nose and I found a booger with blood on it
yeah i noticed it also thats awesome its like funny
i was there it looked goood i live like right oppisite the nuclear plant :)
@mberes DUN DUUUUN!!!
some people evidently don't understand sarcasm
Radioactive Dust, don't breath it.
Everyone just do yourself a favor and skip to 0:50
demolition landmark? OH NO!!! 😦😦😦😦
Such a shame...... thats part of modern history,
Funny, buildings in New York demolish themselves just like this, with only fire. No demolition devices needed!
Reminds me of some other towers that fell the same way.
@jeremyc311709 Why?
D'oh!
That's, um, cool.
Another slight discharge into the atmosphere and of course there was no radiation except for a slight seepage but then that's business as usual.
of course its real
awesome! nuclear power although cleaner is too dangerous. maybe we arent ready for this.
@pppie123 Simpson, huh?
Nothing offensive bro, it's just distracting that's all. We just want to hear birds chirping and people murmerimg right before the big one. :)
Music sounds like its from runescape

Are they made of paper LOL
I suppose a high speed hentai version could be arranged. Watch this space !!!
@thecayflow Nice
I think I have seen this before. In New York maybe? Like around the year 2001...
no i think your on about 9/11 or something. this a nuclear power plant up in cumbria which is in england
It folds like a blanket in 1:20..........
my dad work in theese..
Mola
Do they burn fossil fuels there
bottom left tower at 1:25
@jeremyc311709 LOLOLOL TOTALLY AGREE
YES IT BLENDS!
lol they fold like paper!
Wadsworth Constant Applies

ccol vid
@thecayflow i guest he did

Looks as if they are just sinking into the ground t first.
Oh, ok
