I've read Under the Whispering Door and it is worth the hype! I don't do this often, but totally recommend it! The other book from TJ Klune is The House on the Cerulean Sea - or something like that (?). I'll be reading this soon. Dune is also worth the hype - I read it many years ago and will be rereading it in 2022 to go on with the rest of the series as well!
The Love Hypothesis and The Spanish Love Deception were so so good. I really recommend them! The Song of Achilles literally broke my heart and but also made me believe in love. One of the most beautiful books I’ve ever read.
I loved Letters to the Lost, even when I Thought I wouldn't be able to stand another YA contemporary. I think it is really good, and definitely enjoyed it more that a Curse So Dark and Lonely
I haven't read SoA yet because I didn't like Circe and I'm nervous! For me, the most hyped I've seen are: 7 Husband's of Evelyn Hugo, We Were Liars, Sadie, Good Girls Guide to Murder, Truly Devious, anything Sally Rooney (I haven't read any though), Lost Apothecary, They Both Die at The End, These Violent Delights, etc
A lot of people hated Circe and loved SoA, in my opinion song of Achilles is much more well written and poignant. Circe wasn’t it for me however I don’t think that is a reflection on the writer, only that the story could have been better.
I think you should go for Malibu rising. I've been watching you for years and I feel Malibu rising is a book you'll enjoy because unlike TJR's other books set in the same fictional celebrity world, this book focus more on the importance of family and the relationship between siblings. We know you love books about siblings, particularly sisters. I wouldn't say this book is as deep and perfect as the seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo or Daisy Jones, but it's absolutely amazing.
SoA is the only super hyped book I know I've read, but I read it when it first came out and everyone around me was, like, trashing it. I'm glad I didn't listen to them, it's very romantic and nicely written and I pretty much loved it! (I didn't agree with their crit at all, but to each their own and nothing is going to be universally adored)
I read The Midnight Library earlier this year (around the time it came out). I've read a few Matt Haig books before so I was really excited about TML. I did enjoy it and I'm glad I read it, but it felt a bit flat during some parts. Same with Invisible Life. Read it around the time it came out, LOVED Vicious so much (I still talk about it) but ILAL kind of felt flat and I couldn't really get into the romance very much. I hope you enjoy these books though (and all the others of course!!)
I feel like on tik tok (at least the videos i see) the same 5 books are mentioned Constantly but they're not new releases, so i'm curious what new books are considered hyped up 👀
Not a tiktok fan either so was really interesting to see what has been huge on there! I wasn't a huge fan of Circe either, which I read first, but I adore The Song of Achilles - very immersive book and the main protagonist, Patroclus, is very likable. I think you'll love Lore Olympus - it's such an adorable romance and the characters are really well done!
I loved the Spanish Love Deception! I read it recently, and I wouldn't say it's enemies to lovers. I feel like it was more of a grumpy/sunshine dynamic so don't be put off by it. There are so many cute scenes and funny banter between the characters. I think you'll love it too.
The First half of „malibu rising“ Contains a lot of Flash backs to the 1950s. And the Sibling relationship is a huge part of the Book. So i think you‘d enjoy it.
I haven't read any of these apart from The Midnight Library and Shadow and Bone! I feel like people either love or hate The Midnight Library and I really enjoyed it. I've been trying to read my physical TBR so haven't checked out any recently hyped books really. Interested to read a Historial fiction book about the 1980s, so I think I'm going to pick up Malibu Rising at some point. I haven't heard of The Atlas Society either.
From Blood and Ash series I read this year and absolutely loved them. I'm currently reading the first book of the Flesh and Fire series which is also set in the Blood and Ash world but you do have to read the first three books in the Blood and Ash series and then read A Shadow in the Ember bc it has important facts to better understand the world and the fourth book in the Blood and Ash series comes out March 15th 2022 and I cannot wait to continue reading in that world.
Song of Achilles, Evelyn Hugo, and Under the Whispering Door were Five star read for me. All are queer. All are heartbreaking for different reasons. Love Hypothesis was so cute! I recommend all of these!
I would recommend reading the Four Winds ASAP. It is set during the Great Depression, but more specifically it focuses on the impact of the Dust Bowl on the people of the great plains/ Texas and it is heart wrenching. This is the first Kristin Hannah book I've read and it is also the first book that genuinely made me SOB. I learned about the Dust Bowl in elementary school and knew a little bit from John Steinbeck books but whew this book really educated me and broke my heart at the same time. Such an incredible read. Whenever someone asks for a book recommendation I tell them to read it hahaha
Please Haley get Ace of Spades! It is my second favorite book of the year, I kept going back and forth between which was my favorite Ace of Spades or Anxious People. I read the ebook for Ace of Spades and one of the plot twist made me almost throw my phone across the room.
Lore Olympus is an active webtoon on line webtoon. The book is the compilation of episodes 1-25. I would recommend reading it. ITS SOOOOOOOOO GOOD. The story, the art, the coloring. I could gush about this story forever.
I loved Defy the Night, Once Upon a Broken Heart, and People We Meet on Vacation. I devoured all three of them, the last one on Hailey’s recommendation. Defy the Night was my second fave of the year, and all three were in my top 10.
Girl yes! Im so excited to pick up the Lore Olympus books, I have read maybe the first 50 chapters on WEBTOON but girl that cover is calling to me!! Maybe one day my other favorite WEBTOON Midnight in poppy land will come out as a book too.💕
I just started reading Once Upon A Broken Heart. I am finding it interesting so far. From what I am reading, it looks like it is going to be a sequel series to Caraval. If I am remembering correctly from another video, you haven't finished the Caraval books yet? While it follows a new main character, there are references to Finale, that maybe considered spoilers from the very beginning.
I'm in the middle of Addie LaRue and while I agree that it can be slow, it's whimsical enough that the storyline keeps me engaged. I want to read Midlight Library SO badly but I feel like it would give me really bad existential dread...😬
The Love Hypothesis had really great first half for me but I kinda dislile the second half. Spanish Love Deception was just adorable. I kinda hate how woke they both are, and interestingly they have almost exactly the same storyline about it.
The Love Hypthesis and A Spanish Love Deception... neither one of these are really enemies to lovers. In A Spanish Love Deception, the MC thinks they are for some unknown reason, but it's 100% clear that the love interest does not consider her an enemy at all. Neither of these books are any good, and they were a complete waste of my time. I gave them both two stars because I sadly read them all the way through. NOT worth the hype.
Honestly, the spanish love deception was GREATER than the love hypothesis. TLH was too cliche and cringy and soo unrealistic. I mean unrealistic and cliche is what we love in books, but too much of it is just....NO.
To be honest, I don't really understand Tik Tok as well The only thing I know from it is the sea shanty song The Wellerman Have you thought of reading anything by Patrick Ness, Kiran Millwood Hargrave, Frances Hardinge or Derek Landy?
The Love Hypothesis didn’t feel like an enemies to lovers to me honestly
the love hypothesis is not really enemies to lovers, at leas I experienced it not as enemies to lovers.
I agree. The main characters aren't enemies, but the male love interest isn't liked by people for various reasons, but he's kind to the heroine.
Agreed! It’s grump/sunshine a little bit but not enemies to lovers
These violent delights and all of Sally Rooney's books were also super hyped up
I've read Under the Whispering Door and it is worth the hype!

Some other great options from Brigid Kemmerer are “Letters to the Lost” and the companion book “More Than We Can Tell.” They are both contemporaries.
Yesss I love these so much!!! They are my fav books of all time.
Ooh I luv letters to the lost
I loved Letters to the Lost, even when I Thought I wouldn't be able to stand another YA contemporary. I think it is really good, and definitely enjoyed it more that a Curse So Dark and Lonely
@@matildetome letters to the lost is Kemmerer's best work!
Loves this bookmas! Really like reading 'fake dating' tropes. The love hypothesis sounds fun 🙂

@@meredithwilliams__ thanks! A few people have said they like soa better!
@@bibilbophile I'll be sure to read it in 2022! I got SoA for 50 cents at a booksale so I guess it's okay if I don't like it 🤷♀️
I liked both but I would say they're quite different, so I'm not surprised some people like one over the other.
Malibu Rising was definitely my favourite book of this year. The family dynamics and there are flashbacks to the 50’s through out, I just loved it!
I think you should go for Malibu rising. I've been watching you for years and I feel Malibu rising is a book you'll enjoy because unlike TJR's other books set in the same fictional celebrity world, this book focus more on the importance of family and the relationship between siblings. The Nightclub on Telegraph Hill won the National book award in US for YA

9:46 I'm reading Lore Olympus.. loving it
Honestly I felt like Circe was completely different than the Song of Achilles. I would still give Song of Achilles a try.
Hailey YOU WOULD LOVE LORE OLYMPUS! IF YOU READ AND REVIEW IT I WOULD DIE OF HAPPINESS!
I read The Midnight Library earlier this year (around the time it came out). I've read a few Matt Haig books before so I was really excited about TML. I did enjoy it and I'm glad I read it, but it felt a bit flat during some parts.

I know that Once Upon a Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber 💔 and Kingdom of the Cursed by Kerri Maniscalco 💙💀were two of the most hyped books of 2021 😊😊
I'm going to try the Spanish Love Deception. The synopsis sounds so fun
definitely going to read The Love Hypothesis and The Spanish Love Deception next month.
I feel like on tik tok (at least the videos i see) the same 5 books are mentioned Constantly but they're not new releases, so i'm curious what new books are considered hyped up 👀
The only books I ever see on TikTok are just red white and royal blue and they both die at the end. It’s all I ever see
The books that have been hyped up the most are the third book in The Kingkiller Chronicle series and the sixth book in the Song of Ice and Fire series
I was just waiting for love hypothesis 👀😂
This book I loved - the love hypothesis.
Not a tiktok fan either so was really interesting to see what has been huge on there!

I was genuinely impressed with The Love Hypothesis… I practically read it in one sitting. I also really want to read The Spanish Love Deception
The Spanish Love Deception is one of the best books ever. It is probably a close second with adult romance with the Spanish love deception
So glad I found your channel! I'm binging everything 😂
I loved the Spanish Love Deception! I read it recently, and I wouldn't say it's enemies to lovers. I feel like it was more of a grumpy/sunshine dynamic so don't be put off by it. There are so many cute scenes and funny banter between the characters. I think you'll love it too.

Just got gifted Shadow and bone, the midnight library and the inheritance games. Can't wait to get to them all😍😌
I love Shadow and Bone!!
A video just historical fiction/romance would be so awesome
I couldn’t picture the atlas six when you said it but I do recognise the cover from bookstagram
Malibu Rising is STUNNING. One of my all time favorites. An absolute must-read!

Last Night at the Telegraph Club was so good
Ive read the love hypothesis because of the hype, it really surprised me! I recommend too haha

Dune is a hit or miss with some people I was really hooked into the shadow and bone trilogy
I enjoyed the midnight library because I like the alternate universe type of stories which is also why I liked dark matter

The midnight library is my fav book of 2021. I think you'd like it!
Just wait until you find out about the hype that Ice Planet Barbarians got 🤣
If you want to read more books about the depression, check out A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. One of my all time favorite books!
The level offense I just took when you said that you weren’t the biggest fan of Circe *insert blinking guy gif* lol 😆
Fun fact: the director for the Dune movie is Denis Villeneuve and he is from your brand new province ^^

I’m a few chapters into Evelyn Hugo and I’m struggling. Does it get better? I like Daisy Jones.

I want to read Midlight Library SO badly but I feel like it would give me really bad existential dread...😬
I'm not on (or interested in) TikTok, either, but The Spanish Love Deception has been hyped up by quite a few different BookTubers!
Malibu Rising is a great book! Easily one of my favorite reads of this year! 😊
Fun fact: The Spanish Love Deception won this years Goodreads debut novel award
Lore Olympus is amazing!
Love this idea, maybe you could create a google survey next year though as I’m not on Instagram but would still love to take part!
What?! I put off Addie larue and when I picked it up last week I read it in 2 days! It was amazing ! I can’t wait for the movie adaption
Fox crossing by Melinda Metz
I have heard most of these books except for the graphic novel. 😁
Timothée Chalamet is in the movie. That is very important to me.
A court of silver flames by Sarah j Maas
Finally on time for once :3
The Love Hypothesis had really great first half for me but I kinda dislile the second half. Spanish Love Deception was just adorable. I kinda hate how woke they both are, and interestingly they have almost exactly the same storyline about it.
I missed the hype for so many of these and I ám on TikTok haha 🙈
I am really surprised “A Little Life” isn’t on here.
I love your eyes 🥺
I'm surprised you haven't heard of The Atlas Six. I heard of it, but only on booktube, not booktok
Have you read Finlay Donovan is Killing It?
Great video!
i hated pine which was really hyped and luckenbooth just didnt know what the hell was going on did not finish it this is rare for me

Omg I just realized... You live in Quebec now... If you haven’t yet, you MUST try Chocolats Favoris! Their chocolates are sooooo good 🤤
😁
Song of Achilles was kind of bland for me, well written but ultimately forgettable. The Midnight Library on the other hand is amazing!!
