Robert Westall was a brilliant writer for young adults and grown ups .! He wrote many other books worth reading. He was born in North Shields and passed away in 1993 at a youngish (!) 63 years of age . 🙏🙏
Yes, I can remember being shocked when he died - and it's sad to think of the books we were likely deprived of. I've posted a couple of other Westall adaptations already but as a long-time subscriber you probably know that. I'm also a big fan of the author John Gordon - another writer from the North East, though he moved to East Anglia when still a child. A very different writer to Westall in most respects they do share a particular quality in how they articulate the passions experienced by the young....
Wow, wish I'd known! I recorded the repeat in 1993, but the tape didn't turn over so I only got the first half. I literally had to wait years - twenty-odd of them - before I finally had a chance to hear it in full..!
Nah, Norfolk isn't really different to the rest of England, it just has different PR. Every village in the UK is a little Folk Horror drama waiting to be exposed...

@@ellenmendoza7246 I have a couple of other plays based on the work of this writer - you might like his 'The Stones of Muncaster Cathedral'.
I just love listening to these, so relaxing that sometimes I fall asleep. 😆
Am moving to Norfolk so a bit, well, you know...

Infanticide....
We can only hope the children Loose the Mother
