Huge respect for criticizing the flimsy door handles! Very rarely an automotive journalism is so objective and honest, showing the genuine bad quality when they see it! Well done Thomas and Autogefühl - class leading reviews. I watched the Mercedes intro earlier. I think your thorough 'stationary review' is the first (exclusive access?) review out - and appreciated. The light-control placed on the driver-side door was a surprise and is my favorite new convenience feature. The LiDAR and autonomous driving feature information was a surprise, as well as the ability of buyers to purchase "level 3" autonomous cruising optional equipment as a preinstall ahead of pending regulatory approval (I love Escalade's Super Cruise). The strategic relationship with Nvidia (chips, code, reduced speed of obsolescence and reduced human introduced variance) and future proofing - needed on such an expensive, long-lived investment and extension of self. Autogefühl is always the adults in the room. Jonathan's (sp?) camera work is always the best - another master class.
@Scuffed Paul Denino you are right. I really won't buy $200 jeans and S class segment. I have A6 2018 at the moment but still want to know more about any new cars.
I own the w140, w221 and w222, I have always been a lover on the S Class, and I think growing up with other peers that enjoys these series of legacies, we all agreed that the w223 will not spark any of our interests, not even if it comes with a $200pair of free jeans as floor mats. No thank you. I am happy in my w221 or w222 as a daily thrill.
@Scuffed Paul Denino Isn't that what social media is for? For broke ass people to pretend they are rich? You certainly seem to have grasped the concept.
They didn't go crazy on the exterior as you would expect in this segment but for the first time it seems that it's not the S the dictates the design language, we've seen similar design taillights and headlights on the lesser models but the interior looks dope...apart from one thing: the display with the speedo looks like an afterthought. I mean do you really need it when you have that massive heads up display? Just my thoughts...as always, love the detailed review Thomas! 👏👏
Thomas is the best on this part of the world. Plus, he îs well connected. Not all of us are agree with his leather to be banned idea, but this is another story.
Great video, very informative and Thomas being super charismatic and awesome! I love the relaxing and beautiful shots of the car too. You guys are doing a fantastic job, and I would like to thank you once again for the content
Honestly I am disappointed. The screen behind the steering wheel looks like an after market solution. I know that the technology is high, but it looks cheap to me. Thomas, excellent review!
I mean mainly in interior. For example NO clocks or in general not that special design. It’s getting closer to Tesla. Plus exterior is really close to E class not that big a difference...
emilc35 In real life the much larger size of the S-Class doesn not make it comparable to an E-Class. Lets hope the AMG models and Maybach version look even better
Mercedes Benz has lost me. I really liked our 2010 E-Class Coupe, but after 2013 they moved in a strange direction. Don´t like the outer styling of the last MBs. Great cars for sure, interior also nice, but design is no longer great for me. Especially the "ipad" behind the steering wheel looks as if someone forgot to think about a nice integration into the cockpit. This looks strange. Have a look at the latest RR Ghost, that is great design!
I think so too. They get the proportions wrong, the designs are, at best, confused, no solid design lines or cues which to build future designs on, the ratio of metal to glass on the flanks is wrong (cabin looks claustrophobic), relentless cost cutting but trying to look more 'bling' at the same time, etc... I think Mercedes Benz unfairly benefits from a past reputation (built on the backs of automotive legends such as the Mercs of the 70s, 80s, and early 90s). They still sell cars on that reputation but now the slogans are not backed by the actual reality. Having said that, we now live in an era in history where the actual reality does not matter and anyone can believe, say and do whatever they like, however divorced from reality that might be. Car makers are no different. If only they put the money they spend on marketing gurus and BS into the design and manufacture of their vehicles...
@@cuttight I really liked the 90s and early 2000 till 2010 Mercedes Benz. They looked distinct from other brands, had their very own look. After that, and especially today I sometime confuse them with other brands.

@@humanbraininrobotbod They did exactly that when they merged with Chrysler in the 90s. Who do you think showed them how to do aggressive cost cutting and de-contenting, and how to build them cheap?
I think 7 series outclassed them all with this facelift . That face when Tom says "That's good for people inside this vehicle... Mmaaybe not so good for the people outside this vehicle... Mmmeeeh, that's the catch, yeah." lol
I might be in the minority, but I feel that Mercedes has absolutely trashed the front grill, I feel like it reminds me of a mix between an anteater and a beaver.
To be honest, this way of exhaust option is the best for me, pipes are still visible, and the tips look amazing due to their integration within the bumper. Well done Mercedes 🤘🏻
What a mess around the dashboard. Head up display is like a wide opened ladies bag. Front grill is a bad joke. Whatever weed designers are smoking must be strong.
Exatly this! And you are expected to look over this gaping hole the whole time! Other luxury brands concern themselves to put the nicest leather stiching in front of the drivers view but MB just puts a big hole which will always be in drivers view. How relaxing!
Thank u very much for making wonderful video review of new Mercedes S class as im wondering as per ur experience its seats are very soft cushion or firm?
I like the exterioir design really much. But it's so sad that they are designing cockpits just for chinese market preferences. I am curious about the future sales in Europe and US.
Will only sell to the high end livery companies. Every Uber Black driver will have one of these. Just expensive taxis. I cannot see how anyone in Europe or even North America would buy one of these as a personal vehicle. Both exterior and interior does not appeal to any western sense of design aesthetic.

I feel like an odd one out here, but Mercedes interior looks like a cheap brand. I hate screens in cars, and even more horribly integrated ones. I was barely able to pardon the Mazda CX-30 because at least it's not a touch screen, it's rather small and the rest of the interior makes up for it a bit (considering it's a "budget" car). But really, what's with that screen behind the wheel? An iPad on a stand on a premium car?
this car has a bunch of useless feature, they make you think its futuristic but think deeper they are just making things more complicated, a good old button can do the same thing 100 times better
once again a great first look guys. i find the new s-class a beautiful car no doubt. i don’t mind they use fake exhausts, a lot of laquer and the haptical feedback steering wheel buttons. design wise, it looks better, most of the time. thanks again guys!!

Most S-Class owners are over 60, I'm just curious how they'll figure it all out in the interior and all that touch technology🤔👴🧙♂️
iam 30 and i have one
You ´re right..it’s a nightmare
@@ChefkochBaba it doesn't count the car from your grandfather, Hahahaha. I’m kidding, I know one of the 19 years old who has it but I know the average, meaning the average age of an S-Class driver because I do that kind of job where I have these information. Trust me these people don't know how to send an email
Jole the Nebula I wouldn’t generalize, but they don’t need to send an email. They make a phone call and it gets done. My dad is 75 and can use technology absolutely fine, email and internet with no problem. Also, Bill Gates drives an S-Class, so I think the intended target customer is technologically aware; maybe those that you know of buy this car to prop up their fragile ego.
they will have drivers for it LOL
Love your reviews, very informative en useful!
in your service!
Really? You're considering getting one? Not even mark bezos gates can afford one. These cost 645 trillion rubbles a pop
My favourite s class design is w222
Mercedes cares about the asian markets, chrome, leds and screens everywhere. Do not blame, business is business.
Believe me, Chinese people won't like this S class
So true mb is very popular in asia. More than bmw
I don’t know about other part of Asia but it had so many critics from Chinese car reviewers
@@atlaspop8123 Yes, I dont like it. for D class sedan, I will rather go for 7 series, A8 or panamera.
Frank Alfa i dont believe you, whitey.
Man...the content coming from this channel is just stellar. Thank you team Autogefuhl!
The large central screen is off-centre from the 4 central AC vents. That lack of symmetry would drive me crazy every time I looked at it
Good pick up yep looks horrible
Lol
I love how detailed your reviews are!
Welcome 🤗
The front lights look like something you would found in a game, like they were suppose to be rounded, but still have sharp edges due to the engine, texturing and overall resolution.
Video quality and content is stunning. Thanks a lot Thomas and Jonas😀
Well...they ruined the interior with the tacky screens everywhere. I hope the hipsters are happy....though they don't even buy cars like this....so interested to see how sales will be. Also those new seat and steering controls would drive me insane >__
They totally do. They're the ones stepping out of their chauffeur-driven S class to preach climate change day in day out.
billandyeng lmao wtf? way to completely make up a scenario that doesn’t even make sense.
back screens are optional
Looking at the rear, I am not surprise if someone tell me it is Honda Accord.
Sorry, it didnt make it to a level of Honda. It’s a KIA
@Scuffed Paul Denino I can definitely afford this lmao. It's probably less than 100k
You certainly seem to have grasped the concept.

wow, actually i watched it for 41mins. very good presentation from channel's host
It's great that you reviewed the actual car!
The other channels are disappointing in the official promotional video.
Thomas is the best on this part of the world. Plus, he îs well connected. Not all of us are agree with his leather to be banned idea, but this is another story.
Welp. Looks like Mercedes forgot to style their front end again.
@Eric Plankton - big corolla
Great video, very informative and Thomas being super charismatic and awesome! I love the relaxing and beautiful shots of the car too. You guys are doing a fantastic job, and I would like to thank you once again for the content
🙏🙏🙏
Honestly I am disappointed. The screen behind the steering wheel looks like an after market solution. I know that the technology is high, but it looks cheap to me. Thomas, excellent review!
Such a detailed description . Love watching them 👍🏻. And always #1 in reviewing new cars.
The car absolutely lost character...
Doesn't stand out, sad it is comparable to Korean cars
I don't think so. Plus the current S class is perfect as it is and even that looks much better than the current A8.
They modernised it the way it should it be. Which character has it lost
Imao I absolutely loved the door closing sound analysis.
Hope designers of the new S class are still alive after reading all valuable comments here.
Coolest Germans on RUclips! Thanks so much for the great content in English for an international audience. Love the detail you go into
Mercedes Benz has lost me.
Well said👍👍👍
I also do believe that Merc lost its own path after 2013.
Great insights and attention to detail in this review and I love the subtle humor! A+
✌️thanks
In the interior, MB has done a great job of taking expensive, high quality materials and making them look cheap and tacky. It's so overwrought and encrusted with gee-gaws.
The whole thing looks like it has been designed by a committee and the whole design has the elegance and charisma of a commercial dishwasher.
cuttight It’s like they went back to 1970 and brought back a bunch of GM execs and board members to guide the design.
@@humanbraininrobotbod They did exactly that when they merged with Chrysler in the 90s. Who do you think showed them how to do aggressive cost cutting and de-contenting, and how to build them cheap?
Thank you for your thorough review as always, Thomas. Have a safe and a Thomastastic week wherever you are!
I think 7 series outclassed them all with this facelift . They basically introduced aggressive new look which ressemble the old "shark type" front from 1990s , then in the inside the materials are all top notch and safely to say the best in the segment, but its a productive mix of new tech and the old buttons stuff. WE DONT WANT 2-3-5 tablets and profiles this is not a fuckin social network , its a car that you drive and you dont want to be distracted while driving with all these touch shit screen buttons , its ugly to say the least and NOT WORKING. I own a w221 s500 , and honestly next year i ll go for either w222 or 7series.
The 7 series really. That car could not even match the old modle. This has outclassed any BMW 7 series by an absolute mile. Better build and materials than the BMW. I dont like the Merc dash, but its still the best car in the real world.
Especially the grill that is shaped like a BBW ass
i'm a merc man all the way i own 3 but i got to say the 2018 760il had me drooling and this s class has me confused at best, i am just not sure about it but i am sure the 760il is fkn awesome
This, this is so true.

Best vehicle in its class presented by best reviewer.
I can now submit my application as a car designer at daimler. after seeing this review I have a chance.
I’m in love with the interior and technology it has.
I also do not like the digital touch screen for so many functions. I also wonder how effective these digital screens are in bright sunlight.

I might be in the minority, but I feel that Mercedes has absolutely trashed the front grill, I feel like it reminds me of a mix between an anteater and a beaver.
You have a keen eye for detail. I couldn't quite put my finger on it for some time myself. Thank you :-)
To be honest, this way of exhaust option is the best for me, pipes are still visible, and the tips look amazing due to their integration within the bumper. Well done Mercedes 🤘🏻
More than 30 years later and they come back with those off center air vents? :/

Cheaply designed, cheaper to build (for maximum profit). Welcome to Mercedes Benz 2020.

+1. .. The best of the best; Autogefuhl.
@@cuttight lol! blacks cannot afford this car , and really not ones working for uber , uber drivers barely make 30k a year it's pitiful lol!
@@sailingyachtlifevsyeanonot7621 I said "Uber Black", not blacks. Your misreading of my post makes me want to assume you are from the race obsessed USofA.
By the way, most people can afford it. It's called a business loan / debt, something a lot of consumers, especially in the US are very familiar with as they are up to their eyeballs in it.
@@cuttight taking out a 200k+ business loan with another 40k in interest to drive people around at $15hr lol!!!!!! nobody has this low of a IQ ,, oh wait i'm almost certain i know who would be stupid enough to try this out because the bling bling of the car was just too tempting lel!
@@sailingyachtlifevsyeanonot7621 Nice race baiting but this only works with people from certain countries and I'm certainly not in your 'catchment area'. Your figures are also as wrong as your assumptions. Livery fleet companies buy these almost in bulk in Europe and all over the world. I'm sure they've done their figures before they buy them. @@HOBBYTONY600 Even crazier 🤓
This is called „progress” these days
Dave Jones people still be praising and buying, I guess rich people like ghastly nowadays
Even the 90s S class had a screen. Go cry somewhere else boomer its not like u can afford this car
No, you're right. It's a travesty.
this car has a bunch of useless feature, they make you think its futuristic but think deeper they are just making things more complicated, a good old button can do the same thing 100 times better
once again a great first look guys. i find the new s-class a beautiful car no doubt. i don’t mind they use fake exhausts, a lot of laquer and the haptical feedback steering wheel buttons. design wise, it looks better, most of the time. thanks again guys!!

The fact that the center air vents aren't aligned with the center touchscreen murders my OCD.
I love your detailed presentation. Thanks for existing.
"Current generation of S class is the last best S class". "Cheap Interior looks". "Ugly exterior". "Ugly ipad looking Touchscreen". well... my question is, Does every people had the exact same statement above are REALLY own an S Class???
I don't have to own something to have an opinion on its styling. My favorite is the W221, which I also don't own.
Looks so good ..so clean .. it is beautiful
A-class looks with lots of glass black plastics and less hard buttons. I think Mercedes is actually trying to cheap out on S-class
What a bombshell, Clark Kent is doing Car Reviews now
Me, driving a Toyota Aygo, this looks fancy. I prefer the 7 series
I have so much admiration and respect for educated car reviewers who knows how to dress up according to the car category they review. A lot of so-so car reviewers in RUclips looks DESTITUTE near the car they review.
They really ruined the exterior design of the new on, especially the rear.
