  • Bran castle, the fortress situated on the border between Transylvania and Wallachia, is a Romanian national monument which most ot people know as »The Dracula castle«. Built in 1212 as a wooden castle and rebuilt into a stone fortress in 1377 by the Saxons. It was used as a defense against the invaders from the Ottoman empire. In 1920, after the treaty of Trianon, the castle became the official royal residence of the Queen Marie. Now the Bran castle is a museum and displays the furniture and other different belongings of late Queen Marie.
