Thanks Chris! I really appreciate it man. I have been getting tired of the YT algorithm and needed a break. I’m back to making videos again and hopefully will stay inspired to keep making more 😊👍
Man, I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Those minitrucks with the campers are so awesome. And that whole coastal area/Olympic peninsula is beautiful. I drove out there a few years ago from Western MT where I'm from, and plan to do it again sometime soon. Probably spring.
Mike, you've got some beautiful scenery there in the PNW my friend. Its like you have a lake, river or a trout stream around every corner🎣 Thanks for the ride a long👍👍
Another great video, shame about the siding swelling on the campers, but atleast they stayed dry.... Looking forward to more..... Keep them coming Mike.... 👍
Mike you folks have some of the most incredible scenery in the country. Those are some gorgeous water ways. Thank you for your efforts to pick up after others.
Heck yes. I really enjoy your Kei camping series with your brother. I was out there just last summer and that section of hiway was in pretty good shape. I'm surprised how rough it is now. Guess the winter really chewed it up. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us! Looking forward to more as we start to warm up here in the PNW

Amazing video as always Mike! Thanks for the time and effort you put into these videos for our pleasure i for sure appreciate it. From Mike in Wales 🏴 Uk
Well you aren't far off the highway speed limit, here in Australia 110km/h is maximum 60mph maybe 65mph looked like a great day out, thanks for sharing, all the best to yous and your loved ones
Thank you for sharing y'all's camping trip, Michael! That one section of highway was freaking awful! I thought our potholes were bad! (We've got lots of log trucks in our area too! ) Keep up the good work!
👍👍😎👍👍 MIke, bet it felt good to be out in the sun for a couple of days. As always, thanks to both you and your brother for making these charming and heart warming videos. And thanks for packing out the trash of others that you see along your way. 👍👍
Just found your kei truck camping videos after just recently getting my own kei van (2005 Subaru Sambar van 4WD; Ontario, Canada). I love the camper setups and it's great to see you guys putting them to good use! You're inspiring this city-dweller to try out car camping :)
Really great channel, Mike! I’m always excited when a new video drops between the Kei trucks, welding, sawmill, and Coleman bikes! We are blessed to have you!
Absolutely love these videos of yours. I just got myself a Subaru Domingo up in Vancouver and definitely inspired to take it on some camping trips. The Domingo doesn't have quite the 4WD capability as your trucks (no diff lock or low range) but it's still a popular little van for narrow trails, mud and snow!
Hey Mike, Mick here. Awesome trip you and your brother took, sometimes you have to get away and enjoy the real joys of life. Been busy myself restoring an abused 1959 Massey Ferguson TO35 Gas Special tractor, brings back memories of my youth on the farm. I always enjoys your content and pick up tips, ignore the haters; those who can do exchange ideas, those who can't criticize.
Thanks Ants! I appreciate you checking out my new video 😊 we have some nice places to explore around here 👍 I’m definitely looking forward to more fishing and gathering clams and crabs 🦀 this summer!
Love your videos. Such cool content. So laid back. Makes me want to do more accessorizing on my Hijet kei truck. Lately, I've been 3D printing doodads I drew in FreeCAD. My Hijet is more of a work truck. It's great for crawling down the 45 degree hill into the back yard, hauling out a couple of small trees and driving them to the compost pad at the dump. Way easier than eight weeks of filling the lawn waste bin and rolling it to the curb.
A customer just came by our store with his Suzuki Kei truck and mentioned your builds, so I came to check it out. This is awesome! We're geared for moto camping so a lot of the small and light gear we carry works just as well for car camping and awesome overlanding fun like this!
Hey Mike, you mentioned those musicians, it tweaked my memory. You have a musician friend that wasn't doing well and you had a build for him a ways back (Hobo Dave, I think it was, but my memory is kinda spotty). Hope he's recovered and doing well...
Yes you are right it was Hobo Dave, his knee has healed up fairly well after his surgery but unfortunately his hernia has ripped again, this was his 3rd repair on it. He is out on vacation at the moment in the sun, hopefully he starts feeling better but unfortunately I think he needs Hernia surgery again. Thanks buddy for checking out my new video and asking about Dave. 😊👍
That was an awesome trip for you kids... it makes me miss the road trips out there sweetie and I use to take out there about 20 years ago. A Bongo or Highace truck with a shell on the back would be a sweet rig for a couple doing this.
What great little trucks, lam from Australia and l haven’t seen anything like what you have. I’ll have to do some searching, great vid really enjoying it.
Some of those kei trucks have 4 and 5th gear locked out in the trans. Without a simple mod you can't do highway speeds. Not everybody willing to crack open the trans and cut the shaft that limits the gear selection. But they are fully able to go highway speeds if they aint handicaped.
I've been watching your videos for welding reviews, and came across this video and notice that this vehicle was the same vehicle I saw last weekend heading to Forks, and I wasn't expecting it would be your vehicle on the beach at 2:55 haha, small world we're in. Keep up the good videos much amd your cool projects 🙌
Matt, fiberglass reinforced panel is good material you could use. Most home centers carry these. They typically are used in restaurants and commercial kitchens. They are under $30 per piece of 4x8' sheets on the east coast.
My woods look like your woods! I’m out of Salem Oregon. These trucks are so dang cool, hoping to get one as soon as my daughter gets out of her car seat.
Mike I have a Suzuki carry dd-52 t... What kind of struts did you guys put on front to add the 2 lift... I have top hats added to stock struts.. I need new struts what kind of car do I need to get to get that lift...
Man I'm rarely this early even for the cooking and cycling videos I'm watching now (it's just a phase) but when I pull up youtube there's a video of you that's literally 1 minute old. Is the universe trying to tell me something? 😄
Absolutely love this. Nothing like the beauty of the PNW. I’m very jealous here on the right coast 😂. I wonder if you get lie, awesome gas mileage with those trucks?
My wife and I had a Honda acty Van 550cc and we toured all over New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia. We drove from Sydney to Adelaide (2,800klm return) and back for a 7 day camping holiday once, and from Sydney to Port Fairy Victoria ( 2,300klm) on another.
Just an fyi, if you used FRP panels for the exterior of the camper, the adhesive may be the issue. See if you can source a type design for high heat. It may not soften in the heat of the sun and cause the panel to separate from the underlayment. Just my 2 cents.
The upside to that is that FRP panels are normally white - and - glossy - which reflects a lot of heat and UV. I've seen it in light gray, too. Liquid Nails makes a number of different adhesive caulks for any application, and it's cheaper than epoxy. Using a tile trowel with 1/4" square teeth, a good base of adhesive will be the result. Glued onto 1/4" ply, and you have a very good chance at an exterior that will last for a very long time. Best to apply the FRP to the walls before they are assembled so a heavy flooring roller can be used to press down the panels into the adhesive, like a vinyl floor. Use a trim router to cut off excess overhang. Alternative is E-Glassing.
Mike, off topic for this particular video, but I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on buying a plasma cutter, and wondering what your current recommendations is, Ideally I'd like to be able to use it with a CNC plasma cutter table down the road. I've watched the previous videos, but was curious if something newer has come along that you like better (and may actually be in stock). Thanks!
Thanks for checking out my new video Kirby 😊 both of our trucks are 4 speeds, the 4 speed is better for going with oversized tires then the 5 speed trucks. We are both running 13” rims with 23” tires and stock is 12” with smaller tires. I hear the 5 speed trucks have a harder time pulling 5th gear with larger tires.
Nope, doesn’t always work. Actually,,, often times it makes it worse. I’ve had customers come into my glass shop that have tried that. If the crack is down low then leave it alone and keep it down low. Drilling it often times changes it’s direction of travel.
Hey Mike! I keep meaning to ask, what sort of mpgs are you getting with those tires when you’re not running a camper box? I have a 96 Carry, but very similar drivetrain (4 speed, hi/lo, front/rear difflock). Seems my high mpg has only been around 27. Hit that a few times, then lately it rolled off due to hot temps. But my average is just shy of 25. Seems low by comparison to some of my comrades, but they aren’t running these knobby 13” tires. I’ve done the tuneup route. Air filter looked clean, but it’s on the to do list. Will probably replace the fuel filter too. New plugs, plug wires, disty cap, pcv valve, fixed a fuel leak (which did drop things for a couple of tanks but no big gains). I also just swapped out the tranny and diff fluids. Cheers
Hey, I love your content! I have a couple of questions if you've got the time. How reliable has your Suzuki Carry been? How reliable has your brother's Honda Acty been? What Kei trucks are the best in your opinion? Thank you for your time!
Thanks for checking out my videos 👍 If you go back and check some of my first Kei truck videos you will see me mostly doing work on my truck. It was neglected when it came to the engine, mainly the cooling system. My brothers Honda also needed some long overdue maintenance. Once we got the main stuff fixed up both trucks have been pretty reliable for us. Well as reliable as a 30 year old vehicle can be 😂 I never feel like it’s going to leave me stranded out on trips, sometimes something small will come up with an adjustment or a small repair but they work pretty well for the most part. I would say as long as you’re comfortable working on your own vehicles, changing oil, belts, CV joints then you will be fine. To finish off your last question, both trucks are similar in appearance but have a lot of differences, all and all I would say the Honda has a bit better build quality. With that being said I don’t regret buying my Suzuki. Take care 😊
Those trucks with locked out gears are in trucks sold new in the US for jobs like park maintenance, Zoos stuff like that, they were sold to NOT be used on public roads. Our trucks have been imported from Japan and had been used on public roads just like we use them here in the states, all of these trucks don’t have any gears locked out.
Hope you and your family are doing well btw!!

You guys should think about getting some CB radio's for your trucks
Should totally check out the new GMRS radio band over CB radio. Be sure to get your licensing for either whichever way you go.
