I love the design of the Nessie. Over the years I have thrown a super fluke and caught countless fish. I recently purchased two 5" Nessie's , green pumpkin and the natural shad. I have thrown both in the Passaic River. Smallies are rolling over the bait, nipping it, following it. They are not slamming it, so I am a little puzzled. I am fishing slow with rod twitches and varying short retrieves to take up the slack. Trying to get the bait to sink a little. I can see it being effective as a top or surface lure as well.
Good job Vin I'm hooked on the Nessie in shad color for the largies. Still crushing it tho. Have to switch up cadence like you said. Sometimes I just reel it in slow and they attack it. Tight lines bud.

Don't be shy with the top water baits, doing very well catching large smallies by walking frogs and spooks. River level here (W.Branch) @ 3.2'.
Yea I’m going to give top water a try again this evening, the first night was nothing.

There’s a few. Hoovers island launch is one. Shady nook is another.

Don't waste your money. The Nessie is garbage. It runs like crap. It twists and turns, runs on it's side. Junk!
Money has been spent and the junk is catching fish lol.
