    That's how I've been doining it. Working day job. I'm on year ten own everything in cash except a few payments on truck. Just had welder painted to match. Throwing together right now. The vary last of what I need I will get on tax return. Hopefully uncle Sam leaves me some, lol. Great vid thank u.

    That was a great video brother.
    I really like the advice you gave as a second option for those that are in the position to acquire all the gear needed as they go and and still have an income from their current source. Just as long as they don't let their "side hustle" interfere with their main source of revenue until they're ready to jump in with both feet.
    Myself I'm looking at my options for a suitable compressor to mount up on the truck for carbon arc gouging rather than a tow behind unit to allow for a trailer if the need arises.
    Looking forward to seeing your upcoming videos of the gear you recommend and carry too. Keep them coming 👍

    Good advice... being a contractor you need tons of tooling.. also depending on what you're doing this is an extremely broad question. I started out with a f350 dually and a trailblazer, relatively cheap as far as a business goes...10 years later a full service service truck and line boring serve... a big mortage payment but if you have the work it's a justifiable payment.

I have a 06 dodge mega cab with a flatbed and an assortment of regular hand tools. I've been enjoying your videos, they have been answering most of my questions on the trade but not all has been mentioned and it brings me to a question.
    I'm wondering what are the minimal credentials one must have before starting a welding business?
    I've been welding for 12+ years as my day job and I've held certificates in multiple applications with private companies from structural Flux core to miscellaneous TIG welding and my welds have been under x_ray, pressure and vacuum test many times and pass but I've never takin a welding course out side of high school.
    Is there a specific must have credential or course completion one must have before starting a mobile welding business?

    • @Welderbeast
      @Welderbeast  3 года назад

      When I started my business there were no credentials or requirements. All the jobs I got didn't require a weld cert either.
      The only trades that need lincensed in the states I've worked in were Electricians, Plumbers and HVAC tech's. There are a lot more but those are the closest to the kind of word welding would be near and there is no licensing requirement. You will need a contracting license for any jobs you do that are over the minimum in your state.
      In AR the minimum was $50k and in NC I believe it is $30k. You don't need a license unless you do a project that grosses you over those amounts.

    I've been looking at doing an at home welding business as i don't have the structural or agricultural knowledge and skillset. I chose this because my job as a mechanic, i could get fired for doing side mechanic work. My father, who is a financial advisor for individuals and small businesses and deals with these scenarios pretty much said everything you said (aside from the actual welding specifics) except when it comes time to quit your job. He said get to the point where you know you'll make more money going full time with your business and then make it hurt. Stay with your job for another 3-6 months knowing damn well you are hurting your income to make sure you have that long term business. He said too many times he's seen someone quit their job because they get to the point of making more money from their side hustle only to fail because in 6 months they didnt have paying customers anymore. He said to have that time period go through winter or summer, well after tax season, etc, just to make sure you'll have that customer base year round. or at least make enough during the busy season to sustain yourself for your slow season.
