Early morning you’re still gonna see this many guys lined up in peak season. It never ends especially the places nearby where you can park the car. To get to the good spots you have to get a bicycle and ride a few miles cause no one wants to walk that far with gear
God it’s depressing the crippling pressure these fish face when going through the canal. Takes all the fun out of fishing for me personally. We have to respect the ecosystem and the fisheries more than this. This video sickens me.
I've heard all of the nightmares about people being threatened with violence because "You're in my spot" even though they just walked up. It's just like fishing a jetty, it's a magnet for every googan and asshole on the planet. Fished it once and wouldn't bother again. I'll take the beach, salt pond or boat.
I fish it..!..I know people just need to relax and talk to each other more.. we all love the sport of fishing..and we all have story to tell.. sometimes I don't even fish.. just seat back and enjoy! Them crossing lines.
I have spent 3 seasons in upstate NY for the Salmon Run in Pulaski the week leading into Columbus Day, and as a Mass Resident, the Canal is worse during summer striper runs.
Something about mary scene waiting to happen...shoulder to sholder guy behind a guy trying to cast over him no way man I'd rather go somewhere else and not catch as much and be away from that nonsense
@aismilee4793 thanks but no thanks I like going where I go I like surfcasting I hold my own out there I know everyone raves about the canal and it definitely is great fishing huge bass being pulled out of there and it's tough fishing with the current and all but if you think about it it's almost like cheating in a little bit of a weird way almost like fish in a barrel again nothing against the canal it's just I prefer to fish without people being inches away from me
It's for the people with no boat like me... I can catch big fish from shore and not everyone catch fish here.. also fish don't go by everyday or time for people to catch.

Looks like those fishing derby's I used to go to as a kid. And the canal is so long. You figure they would give each other a bit more elbow room.
Exact reason I gave up on the canal and bought the Old Town Big Water 132. Nuts to butts fishing ain't fun fishing at all.
