Sounds nice and looks nice. I think I've got 777 lined up for about $25 with a Shure cartridge. It's in quite nice condition. I've had about 4 TTs over the years and I miss vinyl so I'm going back to it.
I use one of these to digitize my LPs. Only issue with mine is the LP size indicator in the platter broke a few years ago, so I removed it as it would thump on every revolution. I paid $2.75 for mine in nice cosmetic condtion and with the exception of the auto size, fully operational. Already mounted on the arm was an ADC XLM II Improved cartridge with a replacement stylus, but a VLM, which works but as it is a mid range stylus on a high end cartridge, it underperformed. Bought the correct stylus and have been happy with the results ever since.
I share the pain expressed here. I've also got a 777 - its mark of the devil is more subtle - a tiny chunk out of the cover at the front, its harder to hypothesise about the history of the insult. Perhaps a dropped glass, a careless movement, some dumb arsehole shifting it to the sharehouse living room in the 80s, who knows. But yeah, its nice.

Does this model have VTA adjustment?
Yes. There is a counterweight and a guage that works surprisingly accurately while the tone arm is resting.
Please let me know when you'll put it up for sale! (^_^) Nice job, thank you sir.
