I’ll tell you what as a UCONN fan even I get chills. Arike had one of the best tourney runs ever. Knocks off the dynasty of UCONN in OT after being down like 11 then after being down 15 this game she gets off an off balance shot nothing but net. Man you couldn’t write a better story
I am from Milwaukee Wisconsin and remember seeing her playing against my god daughter who by all accounts was really really good. I asked my god daughter who was that and she says she is best girl basketball player in the entire league. I knew then she was going to be great because my god daughter was really good. She then went on to DSHA high school where my younger sister went years before and my niece just graduated last year and Arike had a stellar high school basketball career too. I think in the championship she had the most points ever scored before they went into like double or triple over time. She had like 50 plus points. Just insane. Rather intelligent young lady too. We love you here in Milwaukee Arike.
As a referee, I've known Arike since she was a freshman in junior high. I told her parents she was special. Arike thanks for representing Milwaukee, congrats on everything and you worked for it all.

I watched this game that day I was on my knees when Notre Dame inbound the ball and the ball was passed to Ogunbowale I was like "nothing but butter baby" and the ball went in I jump up on my feet cheering in front of my TV.. That was a good day and the game was entirely wonderful.
Arike is a genuinely good person. Love watching her play. Why was her name not everywhere way back? States n Colleges are not yelling loud enough. So many are awesome at college level but Noone yelling their names.
Refs definitely did too much at the end of this game. No reason to put 0.1 back on the clock and make everyone go through formalities. Must have wanted overtime pay.
As crazy as it is I can understand what may have caused her to miss the lay up. When they passed the ball inside to her she didn’t even have to put the ball on the floor. All she had to do was turn around and lay it up. When she turned around they left her all by herself to make sure no one fouled her. She didn’t expect to be left that open. She expected contact and she put the shot up in that type of way. Expecting to take a lick, she awkwardly put up the basket and missed it.

2 Mississippi State players made clutch plays, but also choked in this sequence. The one girl missed the easy layup, but then made up for it by smartly fouling to avoid ND getting the game winning layup, then the other one tipped the ball to cause the clutch steal, only to follow it up by turning it right back over.
