Thank you for the very clear and precise explanation of how the catalytic converter functions and why they are installed on today’s automobiles. You are an excellent teacher. Thanks again for sharing. Artie 👍
Great info👍
Kyle I hope I spelled your name correctly but wanted you to know this was an excellent video. This is the first video I’ve seen explaining exactly how they work. Everybody tells you the converter is bad but nobody explains what going on. Thanks for getting into the inner workings. I’m just a retired aircraft mechanic Diyer but I like to know how things work internally. I enjoy your videos because you explain the hows and whys of a component. Stay safe and well Artie. 😊
That was really helpful. This explanation was very good and I like your calm approach and really going into detail. :) I think CAT's are ofter overlooked and forgotten how important they are. And they play a big part to make the environment as good as it can be with so many cars driving daily. And it's impressive how we have so many smart people who help to figure these things out and build a system that can do that.
two questions: 1) what happens when you run a 3 way cat on a car designed for 2-way, ie a lean running car? 2) can a 3 way cat have only one block instead of a reduction and oxidation block?
Can the Catalytic Converter plug up when the car consume oil
If you stop the car from consume oil can the Catalytic Converter burn it from the heat and get cleaned
What will plug up a Catalytic Converter and can you clean it
my '95 saturn wagon went through a quart of oil every 200km. The car still passed smog testing and the cat never plugged up. Car finally died due to a blown head gasket
