Thank you all for being here. Not easy being registered politically independent in California. Neither 'side' can see that what they think is 'for our own good' is anything but. I'll bet both sides will be shocked, shocked if their opponent wins.
Monica lamenting the absence of open debate made me realise that we no longer have three hour conversations like those we were having between Jordan Peterson and Sam Neil had before covid hit. Those debates were held in arenas between huge crowds.
Thank you so much for bringing this topic and this wonderful speaker to the public 💓 To be turned against after signing so many petitions and advocating for change, only to be told because I am white I cannot have the same "sympathy" it is frankly disturbing, and destructive. It has negatively affected my self-image. I am doing so much better staying away from groups and allowing my friends to choose me.
I think it's just the power of the dollar; Walsh proved with 'What is a woman?' that these movies make money, and these companies have a REAL commitment to make money, unlike thier FAKE commitment to lefty identity-politics.
Wonderful discussion, though I do have a small bone to pick with Ms. Monica, in regards to marginalized or underrepresented people. Since the west is founded upon a meritocracy, we should never equate race, gender or other as "underrepresented". What we have in the west is a cultural problem, that is bolstered by mainstream media, academia nursery ~ highest levels of the once most "prestigious" universities the world has ever known and on down to about 90% of social media platforms. We must also include FB, IG and the most mighty of them all "G****le". . Those are "underrepresented" have been in the overwhelming vast majority of cases, rewarded for failure and not held to account for anything from a very young age. The parents are the most culpable of all.
You may be misrepresenting Monica, I think. Firstly the west was not founded upon a real meritocracy. Yes that was the ideal but you have to be ignorant of the past to believe that there was a meritocracy until msm and google arrived. Secondly Monica and the rest of the panel represent a better and fairer way of resolving past/present conflict and moving forward more peacefully.
@@fairplayer7435 ... Yes. The West _was_ founded upon meritocracy. Yes. There are certainly instances when less than someone of adequate merit rose to prominent positions of authority over others. . It seems you otherwise, missed my point. I have nothing but respect for the work that Ms. Monica and the rest of the panel do, my "bone" to pick was in regards to presenting any group as "marginalized / underrepresented". To use such language, is to introduce the idea of quotas into the process of how we should make decisions, for those positions of authority over others. . Now, I am not familiar with Ms. Monica's work, much beyond what she said here today. I am pretty sure I have seen her once or maybe twice, so why I represented the "bone" to pick with her as small. I support her work and is fantastic that she is helping to organize legal and other support for those who have been wronged by a system that wants not meritocracy, but rather DEI quotas and the like. . I will thank you for not inferring that I am ignorant or otherwise lack understanding that the standards we seek are and always will be the end goal, but there will NEVER be a point at which they have been fully realized. The West, and more specifically America, was and has always been called the Great Experiment, as no nation has been advancing more toward those ideals. There will always be shortcomings, because every system ever created was and implemented by humans. Every human alive has the following criteria, within their make up: 1) Human error 2) Human ignorance 3) Human malice . The meritocracy system is by light years the best way to approach the solving / addressing of any problem, so the use of "underrepresented / marginalized" should never be entered into the equation. The panel is using existing system to address failings that we see happening and Ms. Monica is seeking the more egregious examples of where she sees those 3 criteria above have seemingly failed, so deserves and has earned my respect and support for it. However, don't get this twisted. My _only_ issue is that, by her own words here, she has some focus upon "marginalized / underrepresented " persons, so is antithetical to the very nature of that which FAIR is seeking to address. . I am willing and will absolutely watch more content with her going forward, as I do not wish to straw-man her position or discount the wonderful work she has and continues to provide.
@@NinjaKittyBonks Thank you for your interessting input. I supppose it remains unclear, what you mean by 'founded' on a meritocracy. Do you mean the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution or perhaps the unrestricted mass migration from old European countries? And how does the fact that during its earliest days saw so much conflict and violence which obviously eliminated many people who would see all that as unmerited? Isn't it better to argue that America was founded on ideals that people struggled (and are still struggling) painfully to attain? You can have the last word.
@@fairplayer7435 .. Thank you for a good faith critique of my comment 🐈bonk . "Founded" upon meritocracy, as in the goal has always been, to elevate those who have proven their abilities to perform the job / vocation that they were given / elected. It is clear, that we have fallen short of that goal, innumerous times, but it is due to the human condition, noted in those 3 conditions, mentioned above. . DEI, for example, is a textbook one for the 3rd of them. When such a measure is used to determine a position above others, it is a direct undermining of meritocracy, as it is the specific elevation of characteristics that have zero to do with the qualifications deemed necessary to fill that roll. Were we to not fall victim to those 3 items, we would still see some number of those same people "represented", though clearly in far fewer numbers. This is not an admirable goal to seek, but rather one that arises from refusing the elevation of those irrelevant characteristics, as they are the antithesis of what promotes a healthy society. . As for immigration, the [mast - t] of it is not something I can adequately speak to on this platform. The biggest failure for those who are in favor of [hi + volume] of it, is to recognize that nations were built upon settlers and not the other. I am on very thin ice to continue on this topic, as my comment will simply not survive an honest discussion of it all. . On the subject of your earliest days reference, I am not quite following you, but will add this, to what I "think" you may mean (do correct me if I am misunderstanding). Those early days, were in simply one people (culture) seeking control or access of territory, in most cases. Conflict is started in the name of many things, but in the end, it is one culture seeking to "spread" itself elsewhere. Those were people who were theoretically elevated by merit to a position, where in nearly ever case, that persons ego or ambition, drove them to commit harm to others, in the name of whatever they thought the citizens would buy. . Your closing line is one of which I am in complete agreement. As mentioned, or at least eluded to in my previous reply, it is the goal by which we seek, but knowing we will never "reach" it in totality, but is the struggle to ever attempt in its acquisition. Because of this, and specifically the 3 human rules, we will forever fall short, because humans are not capable of forgoing any of those rules, as everyone of us has each of them within us. Those who strongly seek positions of great influence / power, are to be watched very, very, VERY closely, as those who are attracted to them, are very often motivated by the 2nd of the rules, but sadly much of the time.... the 3rd. . Peace, FP 🐈bonk . Feel free to reply as needed, otherwise will see you on the forums and in the chat 😸 Test
I think one of the problems is that people too often equate what happened to minorities in Nazi Germany, Rwanda, and the American South with what's happening to white men in the USA. Not the same thing. I'm an old white guy, and It appears to me that we are making so many excuses for non-action that we risk "locking in" white male privilege permanently. Your thoughts?
Being rich isn't for everyone. I have noticed there is a lot of hatred towards those who dont care about being rich and famous. Or when people care about themselves who are "low status," they are demeaned because they are happy to be here, and they aren't using their "privilege" to help minorities. Some people judt want to live their lives and help who they can and for some it is never enough. It is a fanatisism.

She's awesome!
So glad to "meet" Monica
Hi Aaron! Miss u!
Andrew Doyle has written a book called 'The New Puritans' comparing CSJ to the Salem witch trials.
An apt comparison, I think!
The motivation is spiteful revenge. The 13 year old girl analogy is somehow very fitting.

Life is so much better when you realize that race and gender are not real.
I wonder how "Am I a racist" managed to get access to cinemas? So many films were "cancelled" over the past few years.
Even in a few cinemas in Canada, but limited showings. Unfortunately too far from me.
